Here I am, a 21 year old man and admit that this soundtrack brings me to tears because of how... ALIVE it is. My parents didn’t take me to the theaters to watch it, but I can only imagine how much more “alive” the soundtrack would have been in a loud, surround sound movie theater.
Movies like this make me want a movie theater specifically for throwbacks. Show those old films for those who never got to experience it in a cinema, or for those who have and want to do it again.
I saw it in theatres as a kid. I was 8 at the time and the movie blew me away. I still remember the meteor strike, raptor chase and herd scene like it was yesterday. A beautiful experience
I will always remember how the music swelled at 1:54 when Aladar was in the midst of the dinosaur herd for the first time, when he was underneath the big brachiosaurus, how as a kid this music truly emphasized to me the sheer size and power that these creatures had, definitely influenced my love of dinosaurs haha.
The French Horns in this just make this piece. They are shrill and terrifying one minute, then huge and triumphant the next. The sound just evokes power to me, like it's emulating the call of the Dinosaurs themselves.
You're right. That part marks the end of the road... for Kron. After stubbornly trying to climb up the rocks to get into the Nesting Grounds, he finds himself hitting a dead end. No way to climb the steep rockface to get to the Nesting Grounds, a sheer drop leading to a painful end on the sharp rocks below, and a hungry Carnotaurus coming for him. Plus, he was still wounded from his fight with Aladar, so there's no way he would have been able to keep going. It was a no-win situation that would have ended with him dying if he either tried to keep climbing or tried to face the Carnotaurus.
Grim Reaper i don't think this movie for children(but i saw him in 5 year😀).First PG in Disney with blood, eating of dead bodies(or maybe not dead),genocide a lot of characters.Very childish movie
I remember seeing this in theaters as a kid, and this song started playing when they all are howling at the Carnotaurus, and I remember my skin feeling numb and tears forming in my eyes from pure awe. Still feel the exact same way all these years later. Wonderful forgotten gem.
When rewatching this as an 18 year-old with my mother, we (or at least my mom) were surprised that this is a movie for like 7 year-old kids. There ARE quite a few scary scenes in here, and as a child I found those scary too, but the movie has always been overall awesome, even with the few scary scenes, like the Carnotaurs and the meteor. This is a kids movie that shows the true sides of nature and the world. It's what makes it such a great movie. It's so realistic, both with the animation and the world we're in, but also with the dinosaurs and animals' natures and behaviors, their noises and habits and everything. Especially the fact that quite a lot of characters (both a few main and lots of background ones) die and are seen killed by the Carnotaurs, that the animators don't try to hide it from the kids like most modern kids films do, that makes the movie so realistic and shows kids what nature is really like, but the movie's still appropriate for kids. I'm not sure what I wanted with all that text, but I just REALLY LOVE THIS MOVIE!!! Kids should watch THIS movie instead of that "The Good Dinosaur" or other such modern kids movies. We need more movies like this one.
Rubywing4 I'm adraid but you aren't right. It was first PG MOVIE IN DISNEY HISTORY.Movie has blood, multiple deaths, eating of dead bodies(😬) and of course Carnotaurus. They were like maniacs(i know that it's their nature but come on they are all dinosaurs so you can imagine them as Jason or Michael or someone else) from movies
The darkest scene in the movie is where Bruton and the scout dinosaur are attacked by the Carnotaurs. We see the scout dragged away by his tail. But as Bruton is trying to escape, off to the side you can see the Carnotaur eating the scout. It's a quick shot that if you blink you'll miss it. I noticed it as a kid and pointed it out to my mom and she was like "Oh wow."
@@davidstone281 Ah yes, that was also a scene that I found dark and scary. When I was a kid I did notice the Carnotaur in the background, though I might have only half noticed the flesh torn from the scout's body, not sure. I always found the meteor scene the scariest scene, because... armageddon!
Grear Disney movie. No googley eyes, sing alongs and all that bs. Death, blood, bruises, working together to survive, the meaning of life. All the things that made this movie number one best disney movie
Does anyone else remember the big GASP in the theater when the Carnotaur was falling and started taking Aladar with him?? O_O!!! Hehehe! "NOOO!!!" Heart skipped a beat!
OK, I'm gonna be completely honest... Sharptooth from Land Before Time didn't scare me that much, the Carnotaurs from this movie, did, however, IDK why, I guess maybe its because they look more real or sound more scary, but either way, the Carnotaurs were the scariest villains to me as a kid
smithenator Not to get technical, but those weren't Velos since they were actually extremely small. The raptors they describe in those movies, and in the new World one, they are probably Utahs, since they are closer to that size
I like to think at 1:57, the Carnosaurus was like, "Oh. Um. Did I say that I was gonna eat you? HAHA... I was, uh... kidding! I'm gonna... back away slowly now..."
This brings me back to my childhood… I don’t care what anyone else says, but this age of cinema, late 90s to early 2000s… heck just say the 90s to 2000s were just a joy to be alive, especially at a young age. And I mean not just cinema, but cartoons and video games.
+Bob Cat I remember just hearing just a random song from my childhood movie for the first time, dang it brought memories. But the solo caught my attention so fast everything got quiet next hear the french horn 😲. Instant goosebumps and I said holy sh.....
That music in the beginning , though. I'm still uneasy listening to it to this day. When I first seen this movie as a child, I remember thinking "I don't like where this is going..." This music fits perfectly with the velociraptors, even though they are small, they make up for this by being, sneaky, intelligent, extremely calculative hunters and are not to be reckoned with.
Wow! I've been exploring childhood movie soundtracks and I actually felt like the wind got knocked out of me when I listened to the "stand together". In general this movie just had really memorable soundtracks.
I used to love watching this movie as a kid but when I got into Pokémon I completely forgot it but when I started playing Fossil Fighters and learned about more dinosaurs I remembered and now I want to watch this movie again
If he's not Howard Shore ,Hans Zimmer ,James Horner ,John Williams ,Vangelis Papathanasiou, Harry Gregson-Williams and nowdays 2 Steps from Hell... then who has made those Brilliant Soundtracks that even a 8 years old child remember excactly the right spot of scenes the sounds and the enviroments thanks to these wonderful melodies !!?
So epic. D: I love the part when Baylene steps over Aladar, and this theme plays. It's so incredible to think about the massive size of the animals and the epic proportions of the whole story that I can't even describe it.
When I think of this scene, I think of early humans defending a child from a Sabre Tooth Cat by standing united and rising off the ground by standing on two legs. Thats just me.
Superb, powerful, dramatic, I love DINOSAUR! :D An awesome climax, not a perfect film by any means, but hugely underrated. I love the story and the message about survival, you have to stick together in order to survive :)
***** I agree! I used to watch this movie when I was a kid a lot but now that I re-watch it, I realize that it is very deep. For example, when Aladar and the others were in the cave, you could really feel and see Bruton knowing that he was going to die when he decided to help Aladar. The look in his eyes just hit me and I was mindblown. Other examples are when Aladar stood up for what he thought was right. Also, this film was pretty strong (not in a derogatory way) but for the fact that they show the other Iguanadon being eaten by the Carnotaur with its flesh being torn from its body (even just a bit) was just woah... Every detail that was put into this movie was not a waste. Absolutely one of my favorites ever! ^-^
It is such a masterpiece and Aladar is a fantastic character because of his care and compassion towards the other dinosaurs and the lemurs and he really proves himself to be a worthy leader and adding to your point of Bruton, you really understand his struggle, he wants to prove himself as a hero but he is stuck as Kron's henchman and he witnesses Kron pushing the others too far and I absolutely adore the cave fight sequence because you really see Bruton's true colors as he sacrifices himself, this movie truly pushes the boundries with the emotional journey of each character.
This music makes me think of this huge ass fish I caught once and I just kept fighting and fighting this thing so hard and justI was using all my strength to real in this monster! It was like the biggest battle against nature I've ever experienced. The fish was like 4 and a half feet long! And this music is awesome and dramatic just like my epic catch.
I have introduced this to my Bengals, and displayed all my collection from early 2000s and late 90s. Thank you. The pc game found in Cereal boxes was amazing. It was Chess.
Ahh back as a child when I used to adore dinosaurs. Always watching Walking With Dinosaurs, always reading about dinosaurs and craving to go see their bones at the Natural History Museum. I dont understand the hate for this movie, really. And no, "simple/less original" story does not count in my book, because many stories that people love are also retellings of existing ones. This movie is really enjoyable to me, and the soundtrack still hits !!
Stand Together is the best scene in Dinosaur because it’s the scene where Kron gets killed by the Carnotaur as karma for being a tyrannical dictator of a Herd leader! And what’s more, his voice actor Samuel E. Wright has died from prostate cancer! How good is that! Now that Samuel E. Wright is dead from prostate cancer, his character Kron is officially deader than ever!
this was made 18 years ago and i watched this atleast 30 times when i was 2.3 years old. i don't remember anything from when i was that age. But then i heard this and my memories flooded into my head. This is forever my favourite animated movie.

Facts
Woah, old comment but please do a vid on this movie. I think it’s a great but underrated movie, and the generic name doesn’t help.
The part where they stood upto the carnotaur as a herd inspired me so much when I was young
All the carnotaurs were trying to do is find food, it's not there fault.
I was always crying at that point xD
Tell that to vegans
Me too, its so awesome
No matter how big and powerful the enemy is if we stand together he's nothing.. 👍

This plays whenever biology professors see mobbing in action.
The whole soundtrack in general is is epic

Raptors have always been my favourite dinosaurs. They're like... prehistoric wolves!
And some speculation would suggested that raptors behaved similar to wolves in terms of pack mentality
they kind of remind me more of prehistoric crows and ravens, intelligent social predators\scavengers.

They're not villains they're predators, they only want a meal, nothing else. It's just nature.

In the context of the movie they are villains. Just like the shark in Jaws is a villain.

Pete Anthony is the most awesome conductor in the history of the whole damn world.
Oh how I loved this movie when if frist came out (I was 10) every part of it.
Wright is dead from prostate cancer, his character Kron is officially deader than ever!
this is the best track in the film
I LOVE this film, and the soundtrack :)
I love 1:40 - 1:50. It sends goosebumps to my face.
The closest thing we had to a good Dinosaur movie since the first Jurassic Park
Yeah…no.
@@Mac14329 surely what you meant to say was “Um…yeah”
@@estevesfilmandgaming3115 No. I said “Yeah…no.” And I meant it.
@@Mac14329 Okay, so you’re on crack. This and the first Jurassic Park are the only good dinosaur movies on earth, stop lying to yourself.
i'm soooo scared right now...EPIC
this was made 18 years ago and i watched this atleast 30 times when i was 2.3 years old.

1:51
Insert "Turn up the volume" meme
Love this film! Love this music!
THANK YOU x MILLION :)
that horn is incredable
I somewhat hear the "Signs" score in this piece. James Newton Howard definitely has a dramatic/aggressive style - awesome.
Back when I still had my walkman I used to hear that soundtrack up and down all the time :)
1:31 when your playing skyrim and your overrun and close to death and you just use "FUS RO DAH" to blast them all away.
My childhood i love this soundtrack
