Why TENNESSEE Football Could GO CRAZY in 2024 (Volunteers Preview)
Вставка
- Опубліковано 7 сер 2024
- Tennessee football has exploded under Josh Heupel and 2024 looks to be another year with a ton of hype. Today, I want to preview the 2024 Tennessee Vols, talk about the roster, the schedule and expectations, enjoy!
What team should I cover next? What did I get right/wrong?
Duke
Don’t really think they were in the playoff scene in 2021. They got smoked in Athens and then lost to SC. They haven’t won the east in a while. They’re better than they were but they’re not championship level yet imho
@@douggarrett5288not an excuse but there was ties from the Michigan sign stealing thing. Only game SC wore wrist bands as well. Check it out. Also it was 22 season.
With a better defense they could have been in playoff easy.
@TbagGumps 💯 In 2021 we had backup kickers taking reps at linebacker and one guy named Matthew Butler on the D-line ready to compete at an SEC level. The fact we won 11 games the following year is an absolute miracle. 2023 was said to show Milton wasn't as good as Hooker and the receivers took a step back. That may be true, however, in my opinion, it showed just how much better Alex Golesh could call the Heuple offense better than Halzle. A lot goes into that, but I think we missed the Golesh play calling a lot more than anyone is talking about. 2024 is by far the best team Heuple has ever assembled to this point. If Joey H can take a step, this team could be very good. We have SEC caliber lines, and most of our skill positions are much improved as well. Go Vols!
@@christopherwelch192 i was saying that from florida game on last year. Everyone kept saying, "its Hypes offense". My response is cant always see defensive formations from sideline. Halzle will hopefully gets better this year. Also play calling looked limited to 1/2 the field bc of QB play.
Tennessee 10-2 and make playoffs
That’s hopeful but possible, means they have to run the table outside of Bama and Georgia. The odds they beat both or even one of them aren’t great. And I see a few other games that can go either way. It will come down to how consistent Nico is more than likely, as a first year starter to expect there to be some dips in there.
😅😅😅
Gonna go unbeaten and run through the playoffs
they aren’t beating them gators boss sorry bout it
@@wheresurdadrnthe gators suck nobody likes them
I'm finally in, and I'm currently walking on to the team.
Practices are crazy, are there anyone that believed in me and told me that I can do it thank you very much I appreciate it.
Good luck, dude. Hope you get some game time.
@xliquidflames Thank you very much, that means a lot to me.
🙏🏾
@@GrapeTeaNews Thanks for the prayer.
Fundamentals young man. Patience and hard work. You are a Volunteer and we are damn proud to have you represent!
You're overlooking Cooper Mays as the second most important offensive player on the team.
Mays is the most important imo, he has the most snaps out of any O-lineman on the team and is responsible for setting up our up- tempo offense (which is something any center going from a standard offense would struggle with)
Jesus he’s still there?
@@Bubbles---after seeing how the o-line immediately turned around with out there, yeah, he's way up there in importance.
@crawdadwatson coop is coop, his backup is the important guy we need to be identifying and getting reps in the games as much as possible. I think we will have a great D, so we need to get some young guys a lot of reps when we can.
10-2 Go Vols! See ya in the playoffs! 🏈🍊⬜️🟧⬜️🟧⬜️🟧⬜️🟧⬜️🟧⬜️🟧⬜️⬜️🟧⬜️🟧⬜️🟧⬜️🟧⬜️🟧⬜️🟧⬜️🟧⬜️
Joe Milton and a inconsistent WR room really held us back last year. I’m hoping they can put it together next year with Nico. There is a lot of games on our schedule that could go either way. We’ll just have to see
Respect to the rational Tennessee man, theres unknowns here. So I like to go worst case and best case, best case is most likely 10-2. Worst case 8-4, I would probably go in the middle with 9-3. Nico plays well overall but has some ups and downs and although they have made some moves to sure up the defense. I think they still live ants die by the offense.
@@williamwhitfield6225 the defensive line and linebackers will be really good. It’s still the secondary that is unknown.
@@chadr7522 I think the DL is going to be elite, or at least the starters will. I don’t know about the inside backers but if they’ve got a good an interior front eating up double teams they’ll be fine. The outside backers are good, but they run a 3-4 right? So they’re part of the front 90% of the time. That unit should dominate everyone outside of UGA and Bama. But depth is always a concern and that’s really Tennessee’s issue defensively besides the completely new secondary. Which I would be afraid of as a Tennessee fan, it seems like a very similar situation LSU was in last year with a whole bunch of guys from the portal who have never played together. I don’t know man on paper I feel like they should only lose to Bama and UGA and that would have them in the playoffs. I just don’t trust Tennessee like that yet and as good as Nico may be what percentage of his potential do we expect him to reach? It’s a tough one to call for me but 9-3 sounds right, but I would not be shocked if they went 10-2.
2021 we had Matthew Butler.. Now, we have a team of Matthew Butler! Let's play some football! Go Vols!
Yessir I think we have one of the best defensive lines in the nation!! Gonna be a fun year
Thank you, Scott! You always show love to my Tennessee Vols! I’m also happy for you and a good friend of mine who is also a Missouri native/fan… for the successful season last year!
God, I can't wait!!! I enjoy watching the Braves, but, football needs to hurry up and get here!
Thank you for all of your entertaining content! Your my favorite content creator
As a Tennessee fan. That is an acceptable prediction. But since I’m biased, rightly so, I think we’ll win it all!
dude tn sports is killing it right now. tn in every sport is superb. just won baseball title. eleite 8 in b ball. good at football. titans may be a top team this season. and the preds just added 2 stupid good players.
@@deathgrinderb3284 Yes!!!! I’m very well pleased!!!!!
Like the predictions but if Tennessee goes 10-2 they will for sure be in.
I’m a diehard vols fan and I appreciate you doing a video on my vols I just subbed your channel as well your tigers going be good this year going go watch some of your videos thanks bro and gbo 🍊🍊🙏🏼🙏🏼💯
12-0 I promise I’m not biased
i don't think we'll beat georgia but oklahoma is very VERY possible.
2 of the recruits you didn't mention are boo Carter and Marcus gore I graduated with them so it's really cool to see guys that I went to school with on my favorite college team boo transfered to Bradley for his senior year and helped us go to the state championship so thay was really cool I never did really talk to them much though but I thought that was cool
Look out for Tyre West and Jonathan Josephs in the front 7 along with Pearce (Von Miller 2.0). They removed a lot of dead weight in the secondary and should be much improved.
The defense is now a strength. I don't foresee a lot of 52-49 games moving forward. I wouldn't be shocked to see a 48-13 average score this season.
With Nico and MacIntyre leading the way, Tennessee may dominate the next 4 years.
Joshua Josephs is a guy who could have a big Pearce like step. Also don’t forget that we have Omarr Norman-Lott playing beside Omari Thomas.
Solid breakdown. TN defensive line is extremely deep with lots of upperclassmen
I said it's great to be a tennessee vol 🎉
Isn't Cam Seldon #2 Rb?
Yeah but he’s not 100% rn
I respect your prediction. I just find it hard to believe that a 10-2 Tennessee team would miss the playoffs, because in 2022, they BARELY missed the 4 team playoff with the same record and both losses were on the road.
Unfortunately the invitational committee hates Tennessee
Tennessee didn't deserve the playoffs.
Need to beat one of Bama or UGA IMO and I’m a TN fan. Also need to beat Oklahoma on the road which I think we will. TN has the best DL in the SEC and Oklahoma’s OL is average at best. They won’t get much of a test before us either and I think TN dominated the LOS on offense and defense. Score may not reflect how dominant TN is in that game if Heupel is a little conservative with Nico with it being his first SEC road game. Then again if Nico hits some passes and makes a play or two with his feet and gets comfortable then it could be a boat race as I think Oklahoma will struggle to establish a ground game and I don’t care how well Arnold throws and how great his WR’s are because if he doesn’t have time to throw it and is constantly picking himself up then he will commit turnovers. He’s already shown that in the bowl game and from reading between the lines of their spring practice it sounded like he could’ve done better taking care of the football. If TN starts 4-0 then takes care of business with Arky and Florida then TN gets Bama at home and by that point Bama probably has a loss and is looking more and more beatable.
The 2 corners you mentioned will be battling for a starting spot and ricky Gibson is your #1
Life time TN fan here, if we can go 9 wins with a chance at 10 in a bowl game I’m happy. Our defense is a toss up in the pass game; but I think Keenan P. Will have a big year and surprise a bunch of people. If our WR’s can stay engaged when inevitably some of the talented guys don’t get snaps, then I think it’s possible. Excited to watch them go, and Sampson is great, but unsure of how our backups will do
Hey Scott, good call.
I'm a lifelong Vols die-hard.
When I played K-1st-2nd grade football, we were all gonna be the next Streeter or Cockrell...OLD LIFE LONG DIEHARD. I would always have my mom mail me the News-Sentinel sports section to whatever corner of the earth that the Army had me stationed, including combat zones, so I could keep up with even off season news.
I think OU will be too big of a test, too soon....and Georgia is Georgia.
10-2....on the outside looking
11-2....after pasting an opponent in the bowl game.
GO VOLS!!!
the 2015 tax slayer bowl pic got me lol
2:40......you can see the outline of his bird lololol
Biggest factors I see with the offense this year is 1: Nicos quicker than Miltons ability to react and scramble on top of better progression reads. 2: receivers all around. with bru back, a heavier and improved Squirrel, Keyton gone(love him for the Florida catch, but dude was an asset a lot in the clutch) will most likely go to Matthews. Should be a much improved pass game with Mays at the anchor which should open up #3: Sampson rushing for 1000+. If these factors happen, i would most likely lay cash on 10-2 and the 9-12 seed
We where straight up robbed in Tuscaloosa last year. If you watched that game you know what I'm talking about. Non calls hurt as much as bad calls and the spot of the ball maybe just as important. Nevertheless they got that and sure we obviously couldn't overcome that ( home field) advantage! We where not good enough that day. We will see yall again:)
I haven't forgotten.
Cry abt it. Y’all are just sorry
I think that’s a fair assessment
Played against Khalifa in HS, dawg fr
I thought you're spot on except for the Oklahoma game because Tennessee has the Heupel factor and you failed to mention that and that's an huge momentum factor that's gonna put Tennessee over the top of Oklahoma. ❤
Oklahoma = Kentucky
Kentucky probably has a better roster top to bottom
DLine will be top in SEC if not the country.
Pretty accurate I think it'll be hard to keep a 10-2 sec team out of the playoff though. If it were a 10-2 ACC or big 12 team that's a different story
I think Tennessee’s offense is going to be flying high with that young quarterback they have but it’s gonna come down to their defense. Can they make the stops? Can they get the ball back? I think with that hotshot quarterback, running the show they won’t need to do that a lot. But that’s gonna be the difference and having that two extra wins or something.
the Defense will be better than the Offense
i know this isnt really real life but after looking at this team and playing with them in NCAA 25 they seem pretty good
A lot of hype around Merklinger, Seldon was RB2 until shoulder injury in spring. Lewis should be if he can get healthy as well
Seldon is still Rb2, it will be DeSean Bishop at 3
Seldon is ahead of schedule and should be back in September (early to mid) and Peyton Lewis one of the top RB recruits had a small clean up surgery that held him out of spring but should be good to go for fall camp. They are high on both Lewis and Seldon is 6’1”+ and 225 lbs with track speed and just crazy athletic. Coaches thought of him as a cheat code when they got him but he played in a small division in VA so weak competition, big reason he didn’t get much PT, that and we had 3 RB’s in Small, Wright and Sampson. Lewis really shot up the rankings after the UA all star game. RB will be just fine as either Lewis or Seldon will be ready to backup Sampson if not both by the time SEC play starts.
Go Vols 🍊
Let’s please NOT overhype them. Every damn time that happens, they under deliver
😂😂😂 you’re right brother. Peace from Murfreesboro 🇺🇸👍
They aren’t hyped up that much tbh. We are under the radar a lot and like it bc that’s how it was in 2022. They though we would be really good but not that good
@@wesday2547 I just don’t want it to ramp up here before we get started 😂😂
@@wesday2547 Uh …. Ok
could you cover washington next? they have a super underrated roster right now and just had a couple huge recruiting weekends. they are a very interesting team and i think they would make a great video
Nobody cares about Washington
@@GobigOrange901your wrong, pretty obvious your not a CFB fan. I see your a Vols fan as am I but I’m a fan of the game as well. I don’t think Washington can duplicate last season but would absolutely like to see some preseason takes on last years playoff team that lost a lot of talent from a year ago. GBO🍊🍊
@@GobigOrange901 shut up lil bro 🤣
I think TN actually handles OU and only loses to my Dawgs.
TN is on the verge if they can just figure out defense.
All the Vols football players just witnessed first hand objective reality of what a UT natty win looks like and that was only baseball... one can imagine what a follow up football nat title looks like, hell it might break reality ..data assimilated!
Now let me add some noamata..
This UT baseball team started the season ranked #9
We don’t know how good Nico is
GO VOLS
It all depends on Nico. He could be average this year as he gets used to sec play. If he lives up to the hype of being the best player ever by the media, then they can be pretty good
The only thing is that it’s the top 12 teams that make it in now to the playoffs
Can you do a video on what happened to John Kelly? He was a Tennessee RB that exploded onto the scene in 2017 and haven’t heard hardly anything about him since
That'd be a great video. Dude was supposed to be the next Alvin Kamara.
He just always found himself in a backfield with really good competition, in college he paired up with Kamara/Hurd in the pros (Rams) it was Gurley/Brown and now he's with the Browns where he was up against Chubb/Hunt (until Hunt was released) dude just was never given a chance because no matter where he went he found himself surrounded by extremely good talent, he's bounced around the practice squad for most of his pro career
He's in browns organization mostly practice squad
John Kelly has been playing in the NFL.
Not a bad breakdown you did not really get into the matchups of offensive line versus defensive line or DB from one team versus Tennessee’s receivers or linebackers from one team versus Tennessee’s linebackers, backfield and slot guys but I like the video I think Tennessee can go anywhere from eight and 4 to 11 and one
Im all about your predictions, but Scott don’t do this to me bro. I’ve been hurt by them too many times.
If they do even remotely as well as you said and the comments, then this year will beat out the year I married my wife, or hit my career goal, and the year I became a dad lol
Also, it would be a classic TN move to drop a game against a probably mid Oklahoma team, and then win at Alabama 😂 but I’m all but guaranteeing you that we will be Kentucky. We have that older brother effect, where they can have a good year and we’re having a bad year, yet we’ll still beat them
Good vid but cam seldom is rb n.2 not the other guys he's just hurt rn
If vols go 10-2 we in
Behind Nico will be Gaston, not Jake. Jake will be 3rd.
In your video about bama you said bama beats Tennessee???
11-1 or 10-2 let’s go
Oweweee … Mike Mathews.. boo Carter. Freshman will make impact
Personally, I think you should lose the phrase "he isn't worth mentioning in this video". If you don't want to mention somebody, then just move on to your next sentence.
What about that big time freshman out of Missouri. Bradley out of Platte City
Will be a sophomore this year and I highly doubt he starts. Vols have more depth on DL than any other position.
@@brentpitts7879 Thanks 👍🏿
@@warrendavis1442 no problem and Go Big Orange
Ricky Gibson starts
Ohhh
Boo Carter remember that name
I don’t see any 2 loss SEC teams - against fellow, SEC opponents -missing out on the playoffs, especially if those losses are Georgia and Oklahoma
Ricky Gibson will probably start over mcmurray and turrentine over carter great video!
How do you feel about our CBs this year? Do you think we upgraded in terms of talent wise? Idk why but that position group worries me the most
@@GobigOrange901 we are much more athletic in the secondary.
Jermod McCoy and Ricky Gibson seem to he really legit at corner. We no longer have slow DB's.
@@PallahDaOracle yea jt was really hard to watch McDonald and slaughter constantly get beat on post routes. Hadden was our only solid corner til he got injured. Gabe Juedy wasn’t bad either just wish he woulda came back mainly for depth purposes but i am excited about some of these transfers!
EE-uh-MAH-lay-AH-vah bruh
This brother did zero research. . .
2nd most important offensive player is cooper mays and it isn't close. . .
Seldon is easily the #2 RB. he was just injured for spring. He most likely ends up the Bell Cow. Lewis will be RB3
Staes doesn't sniff Davis' potential as pass catching TE. The best blocking TE is Miles from Alabama
At CB. it will be Gibson who runs a laser 4.3-4.4 and was coveted by UGA. McCoy will be opposite of him. McMurray will be and is CB3
Star will be Jourdan Thomas, and if his injury bug continues expect Boo to take his spot.
Safety is most likely Jakobe Thomas and Andre Turrentine. . . Outside side for both Will Brooks and John Slaughter starting though
On Bradley. . . when Ross stepped on Campus he was already ahead of him on the depth chart. Bradley doesn't love ball enough from what i've read/ been told, and more likely then not won't sniff the field at UT
I think they go 11-1 only losing to Georgia and they beat Alabama again this year
8-4
So name a century when Tennessee wasn’t overhyped -- in August, that is
It’s hard to predict cause only loss I see is Georgia
Sounds about right.... But Vols could beat the Sooners & then lay an egg vs. Hogs ! Hope not but they could get Overconfident starting out 4-0 ! 🤔
11-1 I’m calling it only loss is to Georgia
Tennessee beats Oklahoma
I’m an ORIGINAL UT (University of Texas) fan and after looking at the Vol schedule, I think they have a legit shot.
Original UT? We were a school before you were even a state...
@@xBIGORANGExfr
You all are TU
You wouldn’t be a state without the Volunteers from Tennessee
Sorry all you little ones. Your emotions have the best of you. It doesn’t matter when your “school” was established. University of Texas IS the true UT with orange and white. Your pathetic whining bores me🥱. HOOKE’EM HORNS🤘!!!
No way Tennessee loses against OKU. 11-1 for the season.
you play at oklahoma, plus were more expierienced team. you should mark that game as a loss.
No chance Vols lose to OU, Only questionable game is GA.
We beat OU and are 11-1. If 10-2 the 2nd loss will be FL or Gumps
No way that we lose to Oklahoma
Tennessee will beat Oklahoma… going into Georgia undefeated.. & will probably win.. Nico is a problem. They will go to the Playoffs
Tennessee isn't beating georgia, they will shut down that gimmick offense like they did the last two years.
If Tennessee be beats NC State, I think they will jump all over Oklahoma!!! Go Big Orange 🍊!!!!
lets get some WVU talk 👀👀
I have a Garrett Greene video coming up soon!
They win in Oklahoma and lose to albama
Could be, but if this team is putting up 2022 offensive numbers, it's TN over Bama in Neyland, as this Bama team won't be anything like Bama's 2022 team with Bryce Young offensively. Plus, TN is a far deeper team than in 2022 or last year. OU game will tell us a lot. I think TN is the deeper team and by far better defensively than OU is expected to be this year.. again. 112th ranked secondary is not good from last year, so that must be better I think to beat TN.
Georgia will beat Tennessee but I think it will be closer than people think
Just like the thought the last two years.
Best 11-1 low 9-3 but i see 10-2 as a UT fan myself. we should be deboer and bama at home but you never know. oklahoma, heupel will be out for revenge and beat his alma mater. i said 10-2 bc we won’t b favored vs bama even at home and we’ll lose to uga
Right-little
Wrong -alot
9-3 with a loss to UGA, Bama, and UF
I believe UT beats OU, 11-1
11-1 playoffs
11-1. Write it down
Brandon who???
Austin peay handed TN there butt.
TN looked lost most of that game should have been 85-0
How u call Iowa a bad team with all there starters and top defense ur a goofy
Do Rutgers vid
Tired of people sleeping on Turrentine and Ricky Gibson
Lsu next?
Good breakdown but I don't think UGA beats anyone whose ranked by more than a TD. This UGA team has lost a ton of experience and if TN beats Bama, I think UGA is in trouble at home. I think by the time the TN UGA game rolls around, UGA already has two losses. I think they have to be more dynamic this year and they trailed in 7 first half games last season. Trailed by 14-0 vs SC? One score winners over GT and AU. I just don't think this is even close to the same UGA team it was two years ago. They have depth but this will be the closest in depth TN and UGA have been in a long time and I'd give the D line advantage to TN. In 22, TN gave them their Ball State game plan in a game they really didn't care to win. As we saw what happens when you lose late in the season in the SECCG, you could be out of the playoffs with only that loss, as UGA found out. If UGA last season would have lost to AU and not went to the SECCG, they would have been in the playoffs imo. They would have had weeks to climb back up the playoff rankings. I think TN goes 11-1 with a loss to either UGA or Bama, but beats OU. That 16 OU team was better than OU will be this season and TN is by far this year better than their 16 team.
Buddy UGA has been beating Tennessee senseless for the last 7 years. Remember 2022
Hard to agree with everything you said about UGA but i agree that they aren’t the same as the 21-22 teams. They have a rough stretch of games in November and I think they do drop 2 games this Season. I think the Vols are gonna be a tough out for anybody this year, if the got UGA in Neyland I would pick the Vols preseason, I sure hope your prediction is right GBO 🍊🍊
@@user-qp2uw2im5n I'm merely going on stats here but when a team falters from lofty heights, it always starts with stats slipping. It's fair to pick UGA away but by the time that game rolls around, we are going to know exactly who these two teams are. I see more upside for TN this season than UGA. TN advantage in scheme . D line depth imo, slight TN advantage. And the QB, well it really depends on how efficient our Tempo Spread runs vs UGA typical non-dynamic stuff. The Bama vs UGA SECCG last year was a clear indication that UGA needs more dyanmics to beat the better teams. Going to be watching that UGA vs Clemson early matchup closely. IN 21 when UGA played Clemson, they didn't score a single offensive point against Clemson in that game. Whens the last time a national title winner did that? Never.
@@morganadamo4706 We beat UGA for a decade strait and it took 5 bad coaching hires, 3 AD's and 3 chancellors and 17 years all so UGA could just pull head by a few games in the series. lol Buddy lol. IN 22 we already learned what UGA found out the hard way in 23. And that is do what you have to do to avoid an SECCG and a potential loss, when you are already in the playoffs. We gave UGA the Ball state game plan and had no interest in beating UGA. Why run the risk of losing in the SECCG and no playoffs? You got a first hand lesson on why it's more important to position yourself for the playhoffs than risk a playoff position in a meaningless SECCG. You think we gave you our best game in 22? lol We ran half our plays offensively, no island set, no tempo and we barely spread you on D lol. And no one asked a single question about that game for a 14 point loss at UGA. IF we wanted that game, we would have taken it and you weren't Bama on either side of the ball in 22.. lol You think UGA could have scored 52 on Bama? LOL IN your dreams son lol. And it took sign stealing to beat us in SC. But good news, your schedules are finally harder now, so no more cake schedules lol
@@gwhite7136This will be Kirby’s best team. Tennessee hasn’t closed the gap, it’s probably wider now. It will be another blowout win…..Texas, Ole Miss and Bama are the only games where UGA will have to be almost perfect because they’re all on the road….
Tennessee volunteers will be 12-0
I want pay back
new year same thing i see
I'm glad the Joe Milton error is over at Tennessee. He was pathetic
Omar Norman-Lott: Sacramento-region 🔥. Out west greats boosting goober Tennessee. 😂
The volunqueers !!! Just kidding!! Tennessee is alright but War Damn Eagle!!! We are crootin like madmen for a damn change and the product will be much better. I think UT will be competitive this year and definitely next year. We don't play this year and I will be pulling for them to go far. UT is a sweet place indeed.
Bru McCoy does not create separation. He has good hands and is a fantastic blocker. Nevertheless, he just dies bit get open. He is good at making contested catches, but he dies not get open. I do not believe that a broken leg will help him create separation.
