Great video and Great techniques. Exactly the same ways we were taught in the Corps by DAT guys and Combat Mermaids. Haven’t thought of or heard the term ditty in a couple of decades. I still use ditty’s training folks on all my weapons, especially IA/RA malfunction clearances. I think the reason TT and other instructors get so much flak on weapons handling, manipulations and manual of arms with this series of weapons is we were trained to use them the way it was designed, made and adapted way back in the day. AR’s, AK’s, HK’s etc have similarities and differences in their systems. Use commonality of techniques on their similarities but understand the differences and become knowledgeable and proficient in those to keep you and the gun running, clearing, reloading and operating as efficiently and effectively as possible. Extremely excellent fellas.
In the class back in 2004 they were teaching us that if we were doing a reload with the bolt forward then as you are inserting the mag strip a round off.
Please make a video "vlog" of you guys going through the process of placing a Military Serviceman into a new home or rental property. I feel that finding a willing client who does not mind being on camera would do your channel and business a lot of justice. Take us from the initial contact/sit down, the ensuing conversation, perhaps a drive around looking at properties, etc. Showing the camraderie within that community along with any typical issues regarding placing a serviceman into a new home or apartment/rental, etc., would be very interesting for many. I (and many others) would certainly enjoy watching the process in action. Thank you.
New MP5 owner here. My first MP5 is a Dakota Tactical D34, 12" barrel variant. I've been competing with it and while you can certainly downgrade a mag to reload bolt forwars I have found that while competing things get weird when going fast. It only happened the 1 time but I did accidentally slightly lock back my bolt when reloading with the bolt forward. I assume that I just got sloppy. So because of that I always just lock the bolt back and then reload. AC Unity mags, once properly fitted via shaving the fitment tab, seat 100% of the time bolt forward full 30 rds due to the mag spring having extra space to let the top round move down for the bolt. However even once fitted they are still a little tight in the magwell.
Not much has changed from the late 80’s we were trained 28 rounds in the Mag, Bolt back, Mag out, Mag in, Bolt forward… and we carried the double mag attachment.
Around 1981 I first shot an MP5 at the Ordnance Expo at the LA Police Academy. I was in uniform representing an obscure USMC unit. It was very controllable, but an ergonomic nightmare with few advantages over other available options. Flash forward to 2020, when in a fit of forgetfulness (I’m old) I bought an SP5K and found a whole new problem: any mounted optic interferes with working the charging handle. (Actually, that’s OK as the iron sights work fine, but few folks know how to run those anymore.)
Bolt back load/reload, thats the way! In reload situation, we open first, check the chamberwindow for mailfunction, change the mag and close the System by slap!
I load my magazines all to 30 except for one, I'll load to 28 rounds and load it with the bolt forward as a nightstand bed. It took practice to be able to be 100% certain I was seating the magazines while loading with the bolt forward, but without slamming it in and thereby risking damaging the lips of the magazines. I've found that when I position my hands just right, I can reliably load with the bolt forward every time and without over manhandling things.
It's not perfect but it does work and it is very good at what it does. I heard Chris' mom likes to have her mag downloaded. Thanks for the cool content fellas.
Full mags are the way especially for a mag dump! Sweet guns for sure being real HK and full auto. Nice that Franklin Armory makes a binary trigger pack. I’ve got one in my MP5SD, MP5 and MP5K and they’re fun, but you’re having more fun!
I tried the dual mag clamp before deciding it didn't suit me. I almost liked using it with one mag reversed, so as to keep the extra mag out of my way on the right side of the gun, but now I've decided it wasn't worth the loss of maneuverability for my use case.
The MP5 is still right up there with the best, the B&T APC series is the heir to the throne though.. The main issue I have with the MP5 is the reload though... Now that being said at least the charging handle is on the proper side and the handle does not reciprocate like an AK.. And also since its a compact weapon its easy to work the handle unlike the heavy and cumbersome G3... But its still overall a slower reload and inferior to something like an APC9 or UMP45... What i dont understand is that the MP510mm and .40 cal were able to solve the issue and have a last round hold open, but then they never came out with a 9mm A6 and A7 version that did the same thing.. They just left it... That makes zero sense considering they did it for the 10mm and .40... Also for all the people that say don't rag on the AK or G3 for having awful reloads ... It was early on with assault rifles ... Look at the FAL... Proper side charging handle and last round hold open...
Glad you took the time to educate the people that should not own a MP5, roll back is different and at the 75th we had to be experts at mp5, sg553 and ak47 not just the m4 down load was never an option. If you cant pick up any enemy weapon and use you ended up at HHC to be PCS'd to probably pencil pushers at TRADOC.

With all due respect to your experience, I tactical reload MP5 with bolt forward every single time with 100% certainty. Yes, it is not great for your mag health and yes you need to dry practice hard. But it is absolutely possible. Would be cool to watch your remarks on tac reloads, emergency are kinda obvious. Best
It's faster for sure, but I wouldn't because of the feed lips. Do it if you absolutely have to...but I would rather have those extra rounds. Just my opinion 🤘
Rotating and taking care of your 30 round mags can also show you how the push button mag release can be faster than using the paddle mag. Think about it a little and see. Semper Fi.🇺🇲
My first transferable machine gun was an MP-5, (transferable sear). But almost 50 years before "Project 64", General John T. Thompson's beautiful "Trench Broom" had a bolt hold open. 1918 BAR, M-14, FN-FAL, AR-10/15. I think the bolt hold open was a thing, just saying.
excellent episode....and you did get the full-auto variant this time.....doing the drill was a bonus....if nything....i'd like to know something abot the legalities in using a full-auto MP5 as a civilian for "home -defense" . Is it possible? Or would this just be our "Sunday Gunday gun"?? Is it just hte GOAT gun nerd ironic firearm we get "becasue we can" (not because we need) e.g. a Barrett 50 cal rifle. :)
You got to be quick on your feet like a panther....or the crocodiles are gonna get you..You should do this for AKVs, oh thats right AKVs do not malfunction comrade! But really I am a poor and cannot afford the MP5! As usual great video!
So based on all the reviews on this channel and the community's knowledge, what would you guys recommend if you could get 1 GP AR rifle and 2 handguns, one for EDC and one for range/home defense/open carry with an unlimited budget?
I gotta disagree with the idea of stripping the mag 1st on a malf. I use a lot of flat nosed subs in my mke zenith, and its notorious for deciding to misfeed the very last round in the mag. To me, taking pressure off the bolt by racking it back 1st helps guarantee the mag is more easily stripped free. And this way, my malfunction drills and reloads all follow the same muscle memory (which is the point of going, off, back, on 100% of the time in the first place) I follow this to such an extent that shooting at night, I frequently wont find out till after I police my mags that I've even had a malfunction at all. All I know is dead trigger = back, off, on, forward. Too easy.
That certainly is another way. In doing that, after locking the bolt to the rear and removing the mag, you will still have to go back and cycle the bolt again in order to ensure you clear the round from the chamber, before locking the bolt back a second time, seating the magazine once more and sending the bolt forward. It really just comes down to finding a reloading technique that works best for you, which was the point of the video.
Another awesome video. But one topic was missing im my opinion, taking the information given, in the MP5 platform, we only can do a "tactical" reload reliably on a 28 round loaded magazine right?
For all reloads, immediate and proactive (tactical, as you say), it is intended that you pull the bolt back to the rear in order to get the mag to seat. Of course, people inevitably ask, “Why would you do that on a proactive reload? You’re ejecting a round out in the process.” And my response is “I’m giving up the probability of one for the certainty of 30.” You see, because there is no bolt hold open device to let me know I have run the weapon dry, unless I’m counting to 30, how will I know if I’m actually empty? I would not want to proactively load a new mag when there is no bullet still in the chamber. And of course, as described, the only way to ensure, again “certainty over probability” for the mag to seat the first time, every time is to load with the bolt back.
Love the videos guys. Happy new year . Would really love to know actually the name of silencer in the intro for my MP5 build? Would really appreciate it thanks!
I dont get how everything thats not an AR has a "unique" manual of arms and where the Problem is. If controls arent objectively bad, like a mag lever that gets bumped accidently, Manual of arms is not a problem. Getting to know the controls doesnt take long
That’s pretty much the point of the video. Generally people without experience and adaptability bemoan the MP5 because it’s controls and manual of arms are different and don’t realize that it takes only a short bit of time and deliberate practice to become comfortable, confident and proficient with it.
@@teufelshundtactical And for that short time of Training it really seems to bring something unique and useful to the table. All though i am maybe a bit biased as german. I love the mp5 unfortunately im not easily able to shoot a real one

You’re ejecting a round out in the process.” And my response is “I’m giving up the probability of one for the certainty of 30.”
You see, because there is no bolt hold open device to let me know I have run the weapon dry, unless I’m counting to 30, how will I know if I’m actually empty? I would not want to proactively load a new mag when there is no bullet still in the chamber. And of course, as described, the only way to ensure, again “certainty over probability” for the mag to seat the first time, every time is to load with the bolt back.
@@teufelshundtactical thanks for the information, just a matter of manual of arms training 👌
Can I ask what optic mount/claw you’re using to run the Eotech and alike?
Another great video boys!
Honestly I’m not sure as I wasn’t my gun. There’s just a lot of options out there
Watching this right after Diddy is getting exposed, I’m sad that everyone before me won’t have had the same comedic value I am having 😂
@15:42 "you'll hear a click instead of a bang" Teufelshund has been hugely informative but this statement just killed all interest in owning an MP5
What suppressors were on the MP5A3s at the end?
Dead air wolfman
Love the videos guys. Happy new year . Would really love to know actually the name of silencer in the intro for my MP5 build? Would really appreciate it thanks!
Woot woot 👍🏼🇺🇸🥃
Is this the gun we down load to 28 rounds?
Entweder Höllenhund oder Teufelskerl?
This is some serious pew nerd pr0n thx gents
🍻
The new Chicago typewriter? The Berlin typewriter, perhaps?
Seems like the last reload would be the best one to prolong the life of the magazine…
When they do a quick switch the difference in height is funny af
Mmmmm. The sound of teutonic typewriters...
instead of ditty "tap, rack, bang" as w M4, its "rack, tap, bang"
Warrior aren’t big a bulky they are well portioned! Don’t think big boy can beat James azz! 🤷🏾♂️😂
Man how much does it cost to get MP5SD.
Semi auto, about 5k
Hahah 30 or 28. Def clowned all the haters
Hey HK Boss level 100 man! Can you please send me two HK mp5 22lr 10 round mags please! Lol I cannot find them anywhere. I'm in California! Thank you sir!
Tushy Tactical 😆😆😆😆
UZI doesn't have a bolt hold open either...
I’ll be honest. I don’t like the HK slap. It is not as reliable as simply using your left thumb to release the bolt
No offense guys but US Brass house is crazy expensive. Over $500 for a case of ammo. With prices like that $40 off isn't even getting you to "competitive" pricing.
