Very cool! Have you added a dust collector hood?
Thats a fine job of creating !
hi, where did you find such an ideal drum for the project ?.. i'm inspired to make my own but having trouble finding a drum. it seems photocopiers havs an alluminium drum that might be usable..
@nickpeeeeeee It's just a guess but I would venture to say 3/4 horse power 120v because its so small. They come commonly in 1/4 1/2 and 3/4 in that size range. It's the ratio of pulley wheels you really need to know in conjunction with the size of sanding wheel. Look up Pulley ratio calculator on Google, sorry if this info comes too late.
do you have plans for ur sander???
Very nice
Great Machine and Workmanship!! Would you change anything if you were to build it again! I am about to build one. :)
Nice work.
So you set the thickness via the tilt of the feed-table?
what power is your motor ?
10 👍
good
I hope you put a cover on this. Its almost a bad idea to show it being used without a cover.
I didn't read all the comments, maybe this has been thoroughly beaten into the ground! :-)
Did you hear about the Harvard student who recently flunked his IQ test by getting
his hair caught in a lathe?
my sander project is well under way but the small motor i have [ spec unknown ] is far too weak,.. i can hold the pulley wheel still with one hand so not nearly strong enough for the project. does anyone know the ideal horse power / kw and RPM for a drum sander ????
very nice good workmanship, just finnish with mine

nice, but danger.. be careful or you will lose some of your skin
4 safety Sally's out of 22 comments, come on guys ,don't you believe he's going to add a hood and dust collection? Come on, he was excited to show it off.get a life.
Edad Martin he's made an awesome machine, I am not one to start blabbering about safety, life's to short to tell other about the immediate danger they pose to themselves, stand back and leave em to it......but, gotta say, my ass was twitching watching this! wasn't sure if it was one of those vids where they fuck up and get chewed to death by there own contraptions lol

According to all these comments, that machine surely must have killed you by now. I like the machine and figure you're quite alive and well. Cheers.
can you tell the drum's angular speed ?
Peligrosisimo
I built one almost the same Like a twin.
You really need a dust hood with a vac to control dust . the dust is Bad for your health
Also the if you don't remove the dust build up it throws the thickness of the wood off .
Simply bend 1/8 plywood around two round end pieces in the middle a block of wood with a hole sized to sung the vac hose in place. Its really simple to do .
All the best to you
