If you are a Lebron in your 21st year, you want to beat the Nuggets while you are as fresh as possible. You do NOT want to beat OKC in 6 and THEN have to play Denver anyways.

@@jerryren4076 Anthony Davis matches up well against OKC but I don’t think that means the Lakers in general will dominate this hypothetical matchup like so many are making it sound like. I mean who’s guarding Shai? I think there are a lot of people putting too much stock in a season series where 2/3 of the games were played in LA with the Thunder having the rest disadvantage. I have seen the Thunder play a more consistent form of basketball all year than what the Lakers have done, and that led to 57 wins. I don’t really expect that change but that’s just my opinion tho

The only team that Denver doesn't want to face is Minnesota and it's a potential second round matchup if Minnesota can take care of Phoenix whom they haven't had any success against in the regular season. Why are we still parroting this narrative that the 76ers are the biggest threat to the Celtics? In the past 7 years the Celtics are 12-4 against the 76ers in playoff games. They have beaten the 76ers 3 times in their last 3 series matchups. Whether Embiid is healthy or not, they are not a threat. I would be more "worried" to play the Miami Heat than ANY other team in the east. Celtics are getting banner 18 regardless who we play.

If the Lakers lose to the Pelicans then everyone will know they tanked. Nobody will respect them and they will once again demonstrate that LBJ is NOT the goat. If GSW sees this then they will be more motivated with the idea that the Lakers are looking past them as if they are not a threat. Curry and team as well as other All Stars will see the Lakers as the laughing stock of the league for tanking and it will never be lived down in future discussions in these circles (especially if they lose to GSW or SK).

Routine underachieving in the playoffs. I'm a Celtics fan, but so far, they just haven't proven to be reliable. Their ceiling is insanely high, and for stretches of game they hit it. But too many times do they also hit a floor that shouldn't be as low as it is for a team this talented.
I do think this year is a whole different beast though, and this roster will get it done. But I don't blame the league and fans to be doubting them.

Lakers ARE NOT going to tank. You know why? Because they thought that at every single game last year (although it was a sweep) they've could won.
We, the fans, can definitely argue about this. But given the nature of that series, pro players GOT TO HAVE that mentality, otherwise, they'll lose anyways.
If you look at that series, it never felt like Denver was going to lose that series. Lebron had to go all out just to get a 15 point lead, and then he was gassed. Also, Denver is a bad matchup for AD, D'Lo, and Austin Reaves.
