Here's something you might not know, but it makes perfect sense for Blood Orange Bishaten's pinecones to have the fire element since in real life, pinecone need the raging heat of a wildfire to open and release their seeds.
Actually, i believe that Astalos is not only based on Thor, but also on a creature known as a cockatrice. If you look at its crest, it does resemble a chicken.
only a handful of people view Frankenstein as a monster but after playing dnd for a couple of year I can clearly see that the monster in question is in fact a construct made of human flesh, A FLESH GOLEM. No animated through necromancy but with the power of lighting
If we ever got a variant of Garangolm. I want him to get a bossfight like Raging Brachydios. Instead of getting angry in the last part, he just dies. Only to twitch, shock himself, and rise up again.
I kinda hope they use some more niche monster inspirations like maybe a mothman neopteran/temnoceran. Also before Garangolm was announced I thought we were gonna get a Frankenstein inspired final boss but now I'm thinking chimera.
I actually didn't think about Shogun Ceanataur being a Grim Reaper-motif monster until you mentioned it in this video. Also, I think it's interesting how the monster designers gave the Garangolm a more proper Ape-like face this time, since most of the primate monsters in the franchise either had baboon-like faces or that they put non-primate faces on the bodies of primates, in the case if Bishaten,Congalala, and Kechawacha. Gogomoa from frontier has a vaguegly ape-like face but it looks more like a sloth to me.
@@SarazenX i just looked it up and it's way more bird like. A Daitengu has a bigger nose and that's what Blood Orange Bishaten has. And from what i heard Daitengu are a higher ranked Tengu.
Personally I wish they brought back shakalakas to represent the goblins as they basically are goblins I stead of another rapter, us we would get to fight the goblin king, Plus I want Lagiacrus to represent nessie but something tells me they are hanging on to Lagiacrus for the next game by the main team
My goodness. CAPCOM did an excellent job with the design of Garangolm. I'm a sucker for heavily armoured, tanky monsters. The design is just so epic! Which monsters are your favourite?
I'm happy they add another fang beast to the game and garangolm definitely would be a new rival to rajang. I do hope we get a turf war between these two, a test of strength between these two apes. But I'm also curious on who the final boss will be cause we know it's not the flag ship 🤔
I want to say Astalos is representative of Frankenstein himself, having a lot of quirky movements and twitches makes it come off as unhinged, or "mad", mad scientist. Plus the lightning that is common throughout versions of the Frankenstein story that creates his monster.
I do agree with all your statements, there are just some minor things I’d like to add Garangolm: The Frankenstein itself is practically a golem, so it is both as you said Shogun Ceanataur: That grim reaper theory does make some sense, although, I do think they’re based on the Heikegani (samurai reborn as crabs) Those are the only two I felt like I should point, out, but I do have a theory. The monsters of SunBreak could be based on one Western Yokai (western monster) and one Eastern Yokai. Malzeno seems to have some subtle Nodeppo inspiration with their vampire inspiration, Lunagaron is obviously a werewolf but they may be partially based on an Inugami or an Okuri Inu as well, and Gorangolm… This is a stretch but maybe they’re loosely based on a Nurikabe? A giant stone wall Yokai?
Astalos is surprisingly fitting for Sun break. It's weird but Astalos was designed to be like an English punk rebelling against the Monarchy, hints the mohalk and it's rivalry with the KING Of The Skies. Although visually despite how cool he looks i can't quite see him fitting in but i ain't complaining. I will complain about Gammoth tho Gammoth is also slightly based if the Cyclops too, with it's eye patterned shoulder furr and it's less obvious head armour. I want her Wyvern ride man
Lunagaron is inspired by other things besides the modern werewolf. he's a true wolf; an honest-to-Gog wolf monster. and he reminds me of the Beast of Gévaudan, the *early* werewolf. Astalos may not be the only reference to Norse mythology. Garangolm is seen in the trailer sleeping on what looks like a viking hut. the only Scandinavian monster that lives in forests and is covered in moss is the troll. this makes Garangolm 3 monsters in 1.
I'm guessing that if Gravios is added in Sunbreak (Which is a huge probability with Basarios in Rise), it would most likely take the inspiration of Gargoyles. Some say Nergigante should be the gargoyle inspired monster for SB if it were to be added, but I think Gravios fits the most imo. Also, if your belief of Astalos as Thor is correct, then I think both Akantor and Ukanlos would be a perfect addition as DLCs. Both representing two figures of Norse Mythology: Akantor as Surtr, the fire giant of Muspelheim; and Ukanlos as the frost giant of Jotunheim. Man, writing this down makes me even more excited for Sunbreak to come out! XD
2:21 both shogun ceanatour and lunagaron will have bleed, as you can see, in this part of the gameplay where lunagaron gives the bleed status to the charge blade user. in that footage if you have just its audio it's very easy to even hear the bleed tick when they evade, after it's applied, but it's easy enough to see the effect visually. i really hope garngolm's duel blades are fire/water to fit the monster more. i was so sad when Namielle didn't get water/thunder duel blades, even the gamma armor had both high water and thunder attack. astalos is a great design, it's a dragonfly wyvern so having some insect aspects to its design. the color change for BOB may also be related to some tengu lore/art where the older tengu have that red or orange coloring.
My thoughs on tthe three lords designs: Malzeno Sick as hell defentally in my top 5 Elder Dragons, it's majestic yet creepy yet beatiful yet cool. Also symbiosis with Flying Butterfly Leeches? YEAH Overall vote 10/10 Lunagaron At first I thought it was very bland and unistresting except for its weird colors, but it grew on me a lot and I think it's great now (its colors are still kinda weird though). Also before the latest trailer I was incredibly worried for its (at the time speculated) two legged form because I thought they would have said "screw the animalistic approach let's make a furry in a suit"... But the way they actually made it looks amazing. The way its back is arched and the way it moves makes it look like some sort of Koala or Sloth but Wolf-fast and agile, wich makes it look sick Also it has an ice armor, it's like 10% Zamtrios so bonus points Overall score: 8 or 9/10, I'm leaning towards more the 9 (defentally 10 if it had its colors more watered down) Garangolm Oh boy... Where do I start with this stony pile of garbage. First off, it's an Ape, Apes look like garbage even in real life, and even for Apes low standards... It looks like garbage anyway. Also its half neon green and half pitch black, theese two colors don't blend at all, it looks painted, it doesn't even look its covered in moss (wich should be the point, it's basically a Orangutan Sloth Golem kind of thing) because the green is way too saturated for looking like grass... But the real problem is that if you remove that ugly looking moss it gets genuinely better. I tried in Photoshop to change to color in orange (like Dragon Quest's golems where Garangolm clearly takes inspirations for the head, it's litteraly the same shape)... And I actually like it that way. It looks made of rocks Uragaan or Gravios style... And honestly now I want to see the concept of Uragaan moved to a Mammalian-like creature. Also I hate its arms in the elemental mode. They look like goddamn gloves (so in the end they still made the man in fursuit... Intresting) and also YOU CAN'T ADDA RANDOM RED STRIPE AND NOW IT USES LAVA COME ON! If it's a volcanic rock... Make it look like it's one... Making it orange would have fixed the problem (again) Also for the one covered with *more* moss... It litteraly looks like the vanilla arms, it's ok I guess. Its face has the same silouette of DQ's golems so that's neat. Overall score 3/10 4 if I'm generous. Bonus (the hyenas) Overall score 11/10 and O won't elaborate on that. Overall I'm very satisfied.
Wait what if there is another monster much powerfull than Malzeno who were just awaiting to be revealed in later trailers for Sunbreak. My theory is that if that happens it would be probably based on the devil which I recall was the one who made Dracula a vampire. We all know Capcom tends to hide it's final bosses from the trailers as probably a surprise for players that plays the game.
Actually Astalos and Seregios, have always been the rivals of the rathalos(=of the royalty). In addition, the theme of rebellion is very predominant in these 2 monsters and both their armor looks like a knight, so yea : Rebel, royalty, knight... It's definitly fitting with Sunbreak
