Mitsubishi definitely punches above its weight. My wife bought an Outlander in 2006 and a friend of mine, who is an aerospace engineer looked it over- he was super impressed with the design, the suspension, the quality of the interior switchgear, and fit and finish. That car went through 5 years of use with us, and my daughter drove it for another 5 years before a wreck took it out of commission. Mitsubishi really has the quality part nailed down and we loved all the extra features it had at a lower price than the competition.
We have owned 6 Mitsubishis now and 5 friends and 2 family members own them as well. We have had a 15 Mirage ES, 16 Outlander Sport GT, 17 Mirage G4 SE, two 19 Eclipse Cross SEL Tourings, and a 21 Mirage SE. all purchased brand new. We now own the one 2019 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross SEL Touring with S-AWC and the 2021 Mitsubishi Mirage SE. My Dad owns a 2020 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross SE with S-AWC and loves it. I personally loved the split rear window on the 2018-2020 and was the reason I liked it so much was that it looked so different. We always buy new every few years and since we switched to Mitsubishi in 2015 we have never went back. They cant be beat for the reliability, features, warranty, and just overall owner satisfaction. They use time tested and proven powertrains vs updating every couple years which I prefer. They do not get the recognition they deserve in the USA and once people own one they love them. Looking at most Professional Car reviews on the Eclipse Cross or say the Mirage would scare people away and that is a total shame because once you drive one or look at the owner’s satisfaction and owner reviews its a whole different story. We love Mitsubishi and have had no issues. I think the updated Eclipse Cross and the all new Outlander will hopefully gain Mitsubishi the attention it truly deserves. My friend had her 2015 Mitsubishi Mirage (got new in Nov 2014) 5 and a half years and had not one issue and traded it on a new 2019 Mitsubishi Mirage G4 SE (got new in early 2020) and then traded it on a 2021 Mitsubishi Mirage G4 SE lol. I really love my 2022 Eclipse Cross. The things that I don't like is that there isn't a power rear lift gate and the doors do not lock automatically. I have to remind myself to lock the doors while driving. The best part is everyone is thinking I'm driving a Lexus🤣🤣
Mitsubishi makes extremely reliable cars, my family has had 4: Montero Sport, Montero limited, and the 06' and 07' eclispe. I gave mine to my nephews and my cousin still has hers but the Monteros died close to 270k miles, good run though.
We went from a 2014 Toyota Rav4 to a 2019 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross (Black Edition) and absolutely love it. Power is great, Fuel economy is slightly better than the Rav4 and it has a quality feel about it. Zero issues after 2 years of ownership. PS we prefer our back end , that brake light that goes across the back window actually blocks headlight glare from vehicles behind you at night . Are your MPG numbers Per US gallon because on long highway trips we regularly get 33 MPG Imperial .
That light bar across the back is actually a reference back to the spoiler of the Mitsubishi Eclipse Coupe. And you can see better with the lower glass. But I do like the look of the 2022 design.
With their new design, Mitsubishi sends the message that it means business. The products have had a good reputation over the years in terms of quality and the EVO was a hot awd sports sedan that was doing well in a rallye. You are right that the Mitsubishis tend to be overlooked now. Yet the Pajero was popular in the 90s. Nice review Andrea and Zack, thank you.

I agree with all you said except it being good the Outlander comes with a Nissan powertrain. Mitsubishi over the years has demonstrated a lot less premature JATCO CVT8 issues than Nissan. I believe it's because their programming and specs are different versus Nissan's CVT8. Mitsus tend to be underpowered vs Nissan which translates to less strain on the CVT.

I really like the Night life segment of your video. Makes me wonder why no one else does this in their reviews. Nice work! The interior is extremely dated especially when compared to the Hyundai/Kia competition. Also, the 13.5 gallon gas tank is way too small. Mitsubishi should have went at least 15 gallons for decent range.
Great video as always . I’m just not sure if the new owners will destroy them slowly now that they’re part owners...hope not. Nissan products were very good, but now.....terrible....😔
In regards to Mitsu CVT transmission. I bought a brand new 2010 Mitsu Lancer SE and drove it for 8 years with 140,000 KM. No problem with the CVT transmission at all.
In middle east this car and its rivals are A LOT cheaper. The pre-facelift top trim model is roughly $22k and the base fwd model is under $20k. And this is _before_ discounts that Mitsu often gives on the price.
They have the premium model in this video. You don't get the led headlights, sunroof and leather interior or awd. All models come with safety features standard. Hybrid model is just been released. Most vehicles these days are cvt. Cvt got its bad name from the older days. Cvt has really advanced now and most are better than manuals. They also have tiptronic option to use manual gear changes on cvt.
I bought one just over six months ago, driven 18 000 km, and regret it. Fuel consumption given as 2ltr/100km, reality is rarely less than 7. On autobahns (120 - 130kmh) you can expect 9 - 10 ltr/100k. Range is therefore inadequate, especially in France where there are often long distances between junctions and fuel stations. Several times I tanked with only just over 1ltr in the tank. The navi is next to useless in that as soon as the sun gets near the horizon the screen goes into night mode and is unreadable. I tried finding a route to the nearest filli8ng station ... it took me to a green field and then to a station that sold only diesel for trucks. Use a smart phone with Google Maps or Michelin. The range in the batteries is only about 30 km... I don't bother to charge up any more, especially as electricity is a more expensive fuel than petrol in Germany. Tank contents indication is inaccurate. Example: Distance to cheap fuel, 150km. Indicated range in tank, 200+. 10km before the fuel station the fuel contents shows 0 The rear hatch is a problem in underground car parks with a low ceiling because of the angle below the rear window. The light in the luggage area is useless. It needs to be repositioned so that it shines down on the luggage area when the back is open. Plus points: it is comfortable and quiet except when the engine is working hard. Lights are excellent. Four-wheel drive in snow is superb.
If mitsubishi made these vehicles with a timing chain instead of a timing belt (and preferably lose the CVT) I'd go out and buy one tomorrow. But unfortunately most are stuck with looking at Toyotas for reliability. If I'm paying 25-30k+ I don't want to have to spend another 3-4k to have a timing belt job done every 60-80k... I've never heard anything good of these CVT transmissions either, and while I know emissions have alot to do with the implementation of it, I'd much rather stick to an automatic transmission. Hell id prefer a manual but...
They are missing out by not making light off road versions of there vehicles, they already have decent ground clearance, an additional inch of clearance, thicker sidewall tires along with there awd system and it would attract customers that shop subarus.
9.3l per 100k = 30.3 mpg imperial(Highway) and 9.6l per 100k is 29.4 mpg(city) fuel efficiency stated on Mitsubishi website 2/08/2024. They must have tweaked the engine.
It's a very good looking car. Power output is fine for the class. It's just the nasty cvt that kills it for me. If it had a dct or even conventional tra transmission it would be so so much better
I got a Mitsubishi commercial before this! Perfect

Well now the CVT is a Jatco unit. They are notorious for breaking...
Run away as fast as you can...
@@BabyShark-cg3sz jatco hasn’t had a widespread cvt issue since 2013. Try to keep up ma’am.
@Harold Beauchamp umm sure buddy. Get a Mazda CX5 and never look back ....
I like this car
Thanks so much for your rundown of the Mitsubishi Eclipse..
Our pleasure!
Good review, not a big seller here in Australia but it's a viable option in the segment
Thanks so much!
Bought a 2016 orange sort in 16 still have it and its been a great vehicle
Love your show, even no interest in the car. Amazing duo. 👌🏻
Thanks for watching!
Thank you so much!
the colt was my first new car loved it we have rvr now
totally appreciate your auto journalism
Thank you for the night photos, but your music is way too loud!
The style is much better looking, thanks for sharing with us. The engine is way too small, even with Turbo not enough power.
Thanks for watching!
If Mitsubishi wants to compete, they need to drop their prices to actually make people buy them.
In middle east this car and its rivals are A LOT cheaper.
The pre-facelift top trim model is roughly $22k and the base fwd model is under $20k. And this is _before_ discounts that Mitsu often gives on the price.
I like the 2022 Mitsubishi models; nice changes to the Ellipse, and to the Outlander.
Mitsubishi all day! ❤️
Love this suv, very nice , but does the newer ones have a timing belt or timing chain ⛓ 🤔
@gerrycarney6456 it has timing chain
I don't get the fascination with sunroof. I have had and still have a car with one, but never open if after trying a few times.
I just like a sunroof, I feel it really opens up the vehicle.
Wouldn't it be the Honda HR-V and Toyota C-HR and possibly the Ford EcoSport. Rav4, CR-V and Escape compete more with the Outlander, don't they?
How is the NVH on this car? I saw in another video that this car doesn't have any under-body covering.
i had a 1974 dolt colt great car
Wow, that's so great, thanks for sharing.
Interesting fact...that Nissan Alliance also includes Samsung Motors.
Nice and simple review.
Thank you!
I have the es..,2022.i want to up grade.what model do you recomend
Good Video from an “Unthought of Brand”
Thank for watching, glad you enjoyed it.
Beautiful car
Would love to see you review a 2021 Chevrolet Blazer RS...haven’t seen one on your channel.
They need a sport version, Ralliart or Evo.
Not much dealerships are parts expensive or fixing them? What’s the warranty?
There's a 10 year warranty on Mitsubishi products.
10km before the fuel station the fuel contents shows 0
The rear hatch is a problem in underground car parks with a low ceiling because of the angle below the rear window. The light in the luggage area is useless. It needs to be repositioned so that it shines down on the luggage area when the back is open.
Plus points: it is comfortable and quiet except when the engine is working hard. Lights are excellent. Four-wheel drive in snow is superb.
when doing comparisions most reviewers do not mentions Mitsubishi ................... had a dodge colt great car
An afterthought the Mitsubishis are made in Japan. Australia hasn't made cars for 8 years now. Sad loss actually.
They need to work on fuel mileage which hopefully comes with more hybrid vehicles, and I agree on the 1.5 turbo in the RVR.
I believe that if the wheels were wider the vehicle will look nice and solid
I always want a sunroof because I get the money back when I sell the vehicle. Same with 4x4.
Great point!
nice video motormouth :)
Thank you! - Andrea
its actually quite nice looking
Great looking car
Nice looking Suv but i'm not a huge fan of the steering wheel design, especially the blank switches on there.
Arka koltuklar kayıyormu hareketlimi
If mitsubishi made these vehicles with a timing chain instead of a timing belt (and preferably lose the CVT) I'd go out and buy one tomorrow. But unfortunately most are stuck with looking at Toyotas for reliability. If I'm paying 25-30k+ I don't want to have to spend another 3-4k to have a timing belt job done every 60-80k...
I've never heard anything good of these CVT transmissions either, and while I know emissions have alot to do with the implementation of it, I'd much rather stick to an automatic transmission. Hell id prefer a manual but...
The 1.5L engine has a timing CHAIN, not belt. I would not worry about engine reliability.
They are missing out by not making light off road versions of there vehicles, they already have decent ground clearance, an additional inch of clearance, thicker sidewall tires along with there awd system and it would attract customers that shop subarus.
Anyway for Mitsu to send you guys the PHEV version that JPN/AUS markets get?
I have lived in Canada for last 6 years and I rarely see a Mitsubishi
Strange variants for consideration: why not corolla cross, honda h-rv?
Splendid review
Thank you!
Its not overlooked .. people don't wants it.
Mitsubishi isn't listening to people.
YOU WELCOME
love your smile, Andrea!
9.3l per 100k = 30.3 mpg imperial(Highway) and 9.6l per 100k is 29.4 mpg(city) fuel efficiency stated on Mitsubishi website 2/08/2024. They must have tweaked the engine.
Dint like the foglight any way to change
It's a very good looking car. Power output is fine for the class. It's just the nasty cvt that kills it for me. If it had a dct or even conventional tra transmission it would be so so much better
