Any faith above ten percent of total population can't be called a minority that too especially when it is second largest globally dominant ideology. Parsis, Jains and Sikhs are true minorities and their culture needs to be protected against getting extinct. But we hardly hear Jains or Parsis begging for special benefits. While some globally dominant ideologies are all the time asking for special status, benefits at the expense of tax payers money and tax on temple donations in India. It is truly ridiculous.

Many people don't know reservation and caste related benefits are preventing the tribals, sc and sts from officially converting to Christianity. They follow Christianity but have Hindu names and Hindu caste in their official documents to reap the benefits of being a Hindu minoritiy. If they convert to Christianity there is no such caste system and hence their govt benefits will stop.

Tushar Mehta is a senior lawyer and he made a very good presentation on behalf of the Government of India and it is a very good decision in this context. Of the Honorable Supreme Court, because Muslim, as a minority, cannot represent the majority of the population of 20 crore people like Sikh, Jainism or Buddhists who follow other religions. this is reality.

Minority status should not be based on religion if Europeans Africans etc are citizens of India they should be classified as minority all citizens should be equal with regards to benefits and opportunities minority status based on religion is discriminatory and should be abolished. Minority should be defined properly. First of all anyone having more than 5-10% can not be minority. Moreover why it is so hung up on religion only. Why Linguistic minority, cultural minority, caste minority, gender minority are not considered.

Muslims are not minority in India . Status then needs to be given city by city basis ! Hindus are minority in many places and they should have the right to privileges if they come from such places
If a government identifies different communities based on their religious beliefs and formulates laws in a way that specific communities get certain rights while others do not, it is a brazen violation of the secular fabric of the Indian constitution and a direct attack on the right to equality of the citizens of India. When the constitution grants Right to Equality to each and every citizen of India, constituting or acknowledging minority commission, Waqf Board etc is not only senseless but also violates the rights of other religious communities.

True!! But who is listening. The fabric of India was born out of religious divide between only 2 religion. How is Minority defined?
10% of population? 20%? 25%? 33%? 50%?

Minority status is given only on the basis of Perception. And the perception being "Since India is a Hindu Country, non-Hindus are Minority" so Even when there are 50% Muslims, Muslims will still be a Minority.
Now assume a country where there are 33% Hindus, 33% Muslims, 33% Christians.
Now who is Minority?
If the country is India... Non-Hindus will still be the Minority.
1] We need to fix Minority status at 10% of the population or at Max 15% of the population. If any community's population increases beyond that... They should lose their Minority status..
2] Now after fixing minority status at 15%, we should take back all amount that were given to them in funds after they've became 15%.
And remember that we have to make negotiations only on point 2, not on point 1

This is in direct attack on the education of Muslims. CJI is understanding this but cant tell infront of everyone. Why only AMU is being targeted. There are many institutes running in India by Hindu, Christians, Jain, Parsis, Sikh etc. Christians are having huge colleges and schools all over India but no petition filed to make them Institute of national Importance. Muslims University is of National Importance and What about the Muslims in the Country. Muslims dont have single good lawyer to fight such cases. I dont know what will happen. Whatevery properties, Institutions, Business etc Muslims have made out of there own hard earned money the government is targeting. Same as how Bristishers have looted the India which was made Sone ki Chidiya by Mughal Emperors..
He is right how you can say they are minority
In a true democracy no one should be called as minority or majority,Dalits, aadivasi, advanced,. No religion should be a business of the the Constitution, neither that of the representatives of the people while ruling the country.
