    Your new splitter also creates more outwash on the front tires, which in turn cleans up the airflow going through the middle of the car. Good upgrade, well done.

    I've always been impressed at how mickey-mouse most car aero devices are in terms of shape and understanding. Square edges on a so-called airfoil is madness. That's like using 90-degree plumbing fixtures for headers. It's nice to see some proper analysis without there being an airplane or an F1 car involved. Now if only you were doing Miata parts...

    this was a useful video, I have a sheet of alumalite but I plan on morphing into a alumalite/expanding foam/carbon creation - hopefully incorporating as many of the tips learned here as practically possible with hand tools. Thank you !!

    I have a front splitter chassis mounted with a front square. I've been looking at other aero car channels, and only you (so far into my rabbit hole of watching others) have brought up the shaping of the front splitter. Since mine is made of marine ply wood, im gonna have to sand it down to mimic an upside-down wing. Good video dude

    Love the channel! I'm not there yet, but definitely want to work with you at some point for MK7.5 GTI aero work. It's frustrating how terrible most of the aero stuff is designed for this platform. All "track inspired" with poor CFD models and no wind tunnel testing.
    These cars desperately need help with cooling (engine/brakes in particular) especially due to such a dense engine bay.

    The front splitter shape is genius! I did something similar with mine but only tapered it into the factory tunnels, wish I would of thought of this!

    How much would the outcome vary if the degree of the tapered front edge changed? For example, a smoothed 45 degree edge vs almost a knife shaped profile

    Has the incorporation of wheel turbo fans been modeled for effect / augmentation of splitter function?

      No. Just rotating tire and moving ground plane.

    8:55 Kyle would have angled the splitter in the opposite direction.I've seen him explain it better in one of his videos.
    The rake of the vehicle was correctly stated and Most research studies show it has this effect, except for Wagons/ SUV.
    If Kyle designed your splitter and canards, it's working great. 👍

    Have you considered altering the exhaust from the wheel arches? With your carbon knowledge I bet you could improve that area significantly. Doing something similar to what the 992 GT3RS to lower the wheel arch over pressure.
    As for the splitter do you find extending the front surface area is needed as apposed to changing the stock profile by scalloping out the undertray to create to negative pressure eliminating leading edge extension and also reducing ground contact. Which as you know unloads the tires.
    Is there a solution without adding on but instead reducing high drag areas?

    • @kingwolfracing7170
      @kingwolfracing7170 4 місяці тому +1

      That is actually a radiused edge a chamfer is usually an edge taken down at some specified degree but a chamfer always has sharp edges where it meets the other faces

    • @ajhartmanaero

      what kingwolfracing said is correct. There is a difference between a radius and a chamfer. My verbiage is correct here but I have misspoke in the past.

    Is there an optimal downforce? I imagine there is a point where we can say - we have too much downforce - right? The downforce ultimately decreases the forward vector by taking the car energy and creating a down vector. So what is the ideal downforce pls? (anyone?)

    • @ajhartmanaero
      @ajhartmanaero  Рік тому +1

      No one really knows cause there are no many factors for one optimal level.

    • @jacevincent2574
      @jacevincent2574 11 місяців тому +1

      Basically, more downforce means you can go through a corner at a higher speed, and there's effectively no limit to this. However, the aero will slow you down in the straights, which is the compromise. The reason you don't see huge massive aero on all racecars is usually just because the rules don't allow it. Also, more downforce does not always mean more drag, but they tend to come together.
