I think one of the comparisons to be done is against the Canon 18-80, with the differing features on each, would be interesting

How does this lens compare to the Canon 17-55 in terms of image quality? Is the difference in image quality worth the price?

I wonder how this lens compare with the new Sony 18-110 f.4 and is it in the same category?

different category. Sony's is NOT a cine lens

DCinematic I've had a few people from some of these channels disagree with you. What would you call that lens? from my understanding so far it seems to me to be like a Hybrid Cine/stills Lens. Not sure but that's what it looks like to me. A little confusing but i can see the purpose.

a real cine lens use T-stop instead of f-stop. Not only that, sony's lens is a fly-by-wire focusing lens. Whilst 18-110 is a parfocal lens, its sister lens 28-135 isn't. Most still lenses breathe when focusing, though the 18-110 doesn't breathe that much. These Sony lenses' design is video-oriented, but not cinematic-oriented. apologise for my english, i'm not a native speaker.

DCinematic There's lots of elements and features that make cine lens. F-stops can be equated to T-stops, and as I understand that I think this is why I called it hybrid. Also in Manual mode the Sony 18-110 is a normal focusing len, not fly-by-wire focusing and you're right it's parfocal as most cine lenses are. It has all of functions and features as a cine lens and more in some ways. So my question remains what would you call this lens? for me, it's hard to put a finger on it but I see its purpose as an overall Hybrid lens kinda like the FS7 itself.
p.s I'm not saying optically it's as good as the Fujinon I'm just wondering if they should compare it with each other and I'm thinking more and more yes, But I do understand and respect your view on this and thanks for your valued input. Continued success DCinematic.

Then why couldn't Sony just give those lenses a Cine lens title? This is simply because they are not designed to be cine lenses. Sony's true cine lens are the CineAlta primes. Sorry about mistaking the 18-110 as a fly-by-wire focusing lens, but it's sister 28-135 is though. I don't think there is a specific name for its class, calling it a hybrid lens is reasonable, but cine lens is just not the right term.

You won't be able to use in body stabilization on Sony cameras because there is no electric contacts so the camera won't know what focal length you are using.

Well you can set it to 55mm and it will do some stabilisation, But it's not going to change with you.

Nobody "wants" to do it, but people will still do it.
