GivePower: Power for Reteti Elephant Sanctuary

- In the heart of Kenya’s Namunyak Wildlife Conservancy is the Reteti Elephant Orphanage - a sanctuary for abandoned and orphaned elephants. Reteti is the first community-owned elephant sanctuary in Africa and it is at the forefront of a conservation movement that is helping to reduce human and wildlife conflict in the region.
Reteti is located in an extremely remote area which is ideal for elephant rescue and rehabilitation efforts but lacks access to electricity. Supporting the orphanage’s conservation efforts, GivePower installed solar power to help provide critical communications for the rangers as well as much needed refrigeration for food and medicine. The solar also benefits the women and men who live onsite and provide 24/7 care for the elephants.
Reteti is an exceptionally special place. From saving elephants, to helping the local economy and empowering women, Reteti is truly making a positive impact in their community. The GivePower team is honored to support the vital work that they do. We hope you enjoy the video we created about Givepower's work at Reteti and the magnificent "eles" who live there.

May god full strength and ability
To take care of the elephants.
My greatest respect to the whole community! What an effort for these gentle giants. It makes me humble and proud of you, dealing constantly with the consequences of brutal human interference or even poachging. 🙏❤
With the most commendable and exemplary wildlife management and husbandry, the Management should plan to retain some wildlife for the Sanctuary....
May God Almighty Jehovah bless you all 🙏
good luck, hope the project in Colombia goes well also.
Just visited it, it's very remote but worth the track. Also visited
the elephant rock art which is close by.
I will visit this year 2024

what is meant by community owned. how effectiveis it?
what do you mean how effective? the video shows them saving the elephant species, that's why africa will always retain the highest numbers
release them by the age of 3? they are still babies then. 😦also release them where? do they have a herd that they can be with in the wild?
