- Some 9,000 NATO Troops and Several Tanks Arrive In Sweden
NATO’s newest member, Sweden, has been hosting US Marines and Polish soldiers for exercise Baltic Operations (BALTOPS) 2024. The mainly maritime-focused exercise takes place every year in the Baltic region. This part of the exercise took place on land on the Swedish archipelago of Gotland. Overall, more than 20 NATO Allies, including 50 ships and dozens of aircraft, participated in BALTOPS. This year was particularly notable as it marked Sweden’s first participation as a full NATO member. BALTOPS allows Allies to practise collective deterrence and defence at sea. The Baltic Sea region is crucial to protect because of its trade and energy routes. The exercise is led by US Naval Forces Europe-Africa and the US Sixth Fleet. Command and control is carried out by Naval Striking and Support Forces NATO (STRIKFORNATO).

Let's make it clear to all NATO haters and Russia supporters: Our NATO is an association of free people from democratic states who want to defend their own freedom and their own human rights from stupid foreign dictators (mostly socialist and communist ideologies). Our soldiers are the better fighting troops, precisely because they know what NATO stands for. We Germans in particular have learned to value the alliance very much. We Germans know more than anyone else what war and dictatorship (communism and National Socialism) mean, how they come about and what terrible effects such ideologies are supposed to have on people. We Germans are grateful for our membership in NATO and will make our contribution to it. All dictators out there should be afraid of the power of NATO!
