Shares are parts of total worth of a company. Means for example if a company is worth 100K and it have total 100 shares, means each share is worth 1K or 1 thousand. This includes all the assets (including cash), debts and liabilities of a company. Now if company deicides to pay each share holder 100 rs cash. They will have to pay from the cash in bank. Means their asset is decreasing. So on payment date as company paid 100 rs to each share holder, it means now company's overall worth 90,000 as they have paid 10000 from cash in bank, it also means the share price will go down by 100 rs on that specific day. However, later on when company earns more money and cash in bank increases or other assets etc increase, worth of company also increases , so with that the value of share also increases. This is most basic explanation, hope it helps.

Aur psx nay har share ki base price 10 rs aet ki hoi. So jub b aap sunain keh kisi share ka 40% dividend, toa woh hamaysha 4 rs hoga na keh share ki price ka 40%.
