Nice Work! I am in the middle of doing this to flare a grey sewage pipe but did not have a smooth surface to push it on, so it split and collapsed. Now I found a smooth surface to push it on. I wanna flare it from 110 - 160mm to fit my existing kitchen fume extractor fan on it and keep it in the attic where it makes less noise.
I like the process of flaring the port like this. I thought about adding some upright pieces to 4 sides of the lazy susan to keep the mold from sliding off when you were heating/spinning the port.
Thanks for the great demonstration,is it ok to use 2 pieces of inch and a half pipe instead of one piece of four inch ? i dont have enough space the 4 inch.
So if I say have a port length of 12 inches that would set my tune once I stalled unflared , but then I went to flare l both ends , would that effect the tuning now having flared ends ? Not sure if this little change effects tuning if any or at all . Because to me seems it could effect it because of the preset length determine the frequency ...just. question I had
If you add flares to the 12" pipe, like using epoxy, it will not change the tuning. If you flare the ends of the 12" pipe, its not going to be 12" any more. It might be 9" and that changes the tuning. Rule of thumb is that flares are not counted as far as port length is concerned.
Is that a sheetrock jack in the background? Also I have asked others this question a not got a response.. Can I run 2 Taramps Smart3k's to a common chamber 4 12''s. Two on each amp. If so how there is no phase adj.
I use term-lab and it says to use a 6x10.25 flared port. Do I cut 10.25 and them flare it? Also does the flare have to be the same size on each end? Great video by the way.
flares may look pretty but builders must keep in mind that any flare design will not affect the bass output quality, its simply for cosmetic appearance
Brother love the video, can u please please tell me how many inches extra would i have to add to my length of port for this? Thank ahead of time & thanks for video bro.
AMICUSTOMS Whats better a L port box or Aero port box and does wattage and size of sub matter for each type of box, like is one better for lower wattage system or higher wattage system?
Good process but i do notice its not a even flare for a flat surface. Id suggest a taller center on the mold to keep it from wobbling or a exterior brace to go up higher around the outside to keep it centered at you press the mold
i used an aeroport calculator and it says i need an 8 inch port. does it mean that my port length including the flares from end to end needs to be 8 inches?
I want to build a class 4 box that fits on the rear deck of a 2004 grand marquis. I want the port tuned as low as possible. I love a low end monster. and I want it pass thru the rear seats arm rest so the bass will only enter the cabbin (no trunk rattle). I want to use 4 sundown audio 8". my questions are with the airspace , and a is port possible for the build. well over all is it possible to build and if so any possible combinations that will accomplish the job will be appreciated.

Does the length and diameter of the port affect the sound? Is there a way to calculate how lone the tube needs to be or do you just tune your amp to get the right sound?
I think that using his rule of thumb for the tube and round over radii is just a short cut to ensure you have approximately/at least double the cross section area at the flared end compared to the basic pipes area. Thats just my guess though
I do have a question.. is it absolutely necessary to partially aero flare the opposite end of the pvc for a sub box on the end that goes into the box ? I never knew that is there any gain or loss to doing that
+Sebastian Williamas Aero increases efficiency as it allows the air to exit smoother and faster. Yes it affects the tuning you have to add length due to the flare.
So friend, not even the RE told me the duct's measure to tune the box, like length and diameter, the model of my subwofeer is RE SEX 10D4 V1, the manual says to make a box dutada of 35.4 liters plus the duct, could help me?
Something like that longer ports tune to a lower frequency but you have to have calculated the box volume with its bracing, subwoofer and port installed. Also taking note that the subwoofer or subwoofers can play at the that frequency safely. There are apps called box calculators that do mostly all the above for you.
could u give me some box advice for a dd redline 800 18.. pretty similar to hdc4. long story short I've made 2 boxes.. 1 6.75 cuft after port and sub and 110sqin of port 24in long.. kills lows 171.1db at 44hz. box 2 5.2cuft after displacement 19.5sqin of port per cube, 18in long.. sounds loud as shit but did a 146.9 at 48hz. in a bravada at cab I believe is 44hz so why is my "spl" box down on score... need some help
Hey man quick question. I'm going to build a under seat front facing box for my 08 Silverado for 4 soundqubed 8's. Probably going to lift my seat 3 inches to make room for the biggest box possible, what size aero port do you recommend? And what length?

juggernautxtr AZ? Not sure who that is but the blue box in this video has same pipe I use in the video. And he plays it everyday and that was going on 3 years ago. So I think the pipe is fine, but I could be wrong lol.
+Spoogethat volume was fine for me on asus n56jr laptop aside: some skateboard grip tape on that lower spindle would keep it from slipping ...or even electrical tape in a cross stitch pattern or even some medical gauge tape would work.

What’s better aeroport or side port ? It’s for a 8 inch massive hippo
What do you think about having the port towards the driver side? Is it supposed to be twice as loud? Or
If you flare both ends, how do you get it in the box? One end has to be smaller than the other
Yes onensode is slight smaller than the mounting port diameter
Awesome video came across this channel late in my life.
Also what speakers were you making this the blue ones in the end of video looks nice was brief

Incorrect but thanks for the feedback the flare is even, and the mold works fine I have made dozens of flares with this same mold no issues.
@@AMICUSTOMS the tube standing on the table looks uneven and tilted

Wow, yours is bigger than mine..
your heat gun that is. Holy massive heat gun! What's it's rating?
I think that you should try a thicker PVC pipe for more resonance.
You cut out the circles with a jigsaw? How the heck you get them so perfect?
Also where did you get the pipe? I can't find those ANYWHERE!!, I've called like 10 places, searched online, etc
I wonder if I can do that with jb weld or something like that instead of that expensive looking stuff he used?
What he used is cheaper
That’s awesome! Thanks for the tip
Hi, Which gives better performance in SPL, aeroport or long vents? thanks..
when building a bandpass subwoofer box is it better to have ports or slots & should it be larger on the outside or does that matter?

Lower mach percentage....smoother air flow, no port noise (assuming you have the proper diameter)

any hints or tips or follow ups from this video boss?
andrew, whats your thoughts on aero vs slot ports. i got 2 hdc3 15s and ampere 3800 and i wanna get the most clean low bass with ability to hairtrick.
My view is under 10 cubes box should run aero, over 10 cube do slot port. That is what I have done and tested and seems to be the cut off.

While it's not absolutely necessary, it reduces port turbulence/chuffing noise.
