HENNA EXPERT REACTS TO

  • Courtney has experimented a lot with her hair, but in this video, henna expert Khadija reacts to her process of discovering the DIY henna method. At first, Courtney was unhappy with how dark her henna had become from using Lush henna and thought that using chemical hair dye over it was the only option to get the red tone she was really looking for. When that failed and she hated it, she learned that she could have made her own recipe using the DIY henna method. The second half of this reaction shows Courtney sharing the henna recipe she finally used to achieve the color she was looking for in the first place.

I love henna, but I also didn’t like the dark, dark mahogany color at my mid shaft/ ends from so much henna over top of each other. I don’t want to get rid of it, but I do want to lighten it so it’s not so dark. SO, I used the vitamin C /dandruff shampoo treatment with a little bit of lemon juice added. I left that on my hair for 2 hours, then rinsed and covered my hair in coconut oil. I left that in for 8 hours, and rinsed with Dawn dish soap because I didn’t want greasy hair. This worked!y hair is noticeably lighter, less dark red and closer to the color that my hair was years ago when I first did henna. I’m going to repeat this process a couple more times to get even closer. I hope this is helpful for anyone who is thinking about changing their henna but doesn’t want to use bleach or other artificial things.

I'm naturally dirty auburn and I've been all-natural for 7 years. I use to use henna often and fell out of habit as I began to headcover full-time more as a Christian. I've not used henna or anything else on my hair in 3 years. I just put 100% henna on thinking my hair is very dark currently (but still not brown) and that it would be like it was before when I used henna years ago.... but I've never actually ever had 100% virgin hair ever since I was a child. It will be interesting to see how pure henna does on virgin dirty auburn. My hair picks up and keeps color well. I use to use light mountain natural red but saw some henna at our local world market and picked up some. I recently found your channel and website and was very impressed. I've been sharing your videos and website with friends and the next time I get henna I'll be getting it from you. The best part about everything you offer is it's great for multi-ethnic and multi-cultural. Even in my home, we all have different hair types and skin types and needs and I've been wanting to find products that are for all of us. I honestly think you knock that out of the park with everything that you provide.... 1 company that can serve me with my hip-length straight red hair that's fully covered every day, my middle child's 4c thick afro hair is 5 heads worth of hair, and my natural friends, my eldest daughter who's all about skincare and face masks, my love of henna. We have eczema, scalp psoriasis, we have allergies, and inflammatory diseases...we require all our family products to be thoughtfully chosen and then I find HennaSooq..... amazing that you have everything all-natural just how we like it, exactly for us.

I have been following your blogs to remove henna from my hair.
Specifically, I have been using dark brown henna for 4 years to cover grays mostly on my crown and temples.
I wanted to go to medium brown. I used the method, Vitamin C powder and dandruff shampoo.
I left in my hair for 1 hour first time and the rest for about 3 hours. It took 5 applications to see the dark brown lift. I was happy.
I colored with medium brown henna and saw my grays were copper color after I rinsed out. I know in the past my grays would be a different color than brown,
usually green. So I wasn’t worried since this time coloring I did your tip to let the henna sit for 2 hours after mixed before applying.
But when I washed my hair 2 days later, the copper color remained.
Can you help me figure out why this happened? I want my grays to be brown not copper.
i did not use indigo. My henna is pure and organic.

I don’t understand, this girl dyed her hair darker but then lightened it with henna, cassia and amla. Not that you cannot lighten with henna? How she removed the dark just with this? I ask because when she is applying the new recipe her strands of her are already light orange… I also have read amla may darken so i still don’t get why using it here, thanks

If she would allow her henna root color to continue down her head, she would have more of an auburn color. But she had been lightening her ends to create the ombré effect.
If she just mixed a little indigo and left it on for a little bit it would probably have turned out more like how she wanted I’m guessing

I went into a place for a haircut and the stylist who was working on my hair loved the color. (ironically, most do.) she asked me about it i very reluctantly told her i use henna. she had actually never heard of it before. i was a bit shocked, but she was open to receive info so i explained what I know. Another stylist from across the shop then decided to join the conversation by yelling at me for using henna. i’ve had multiple stylist warn me against it after literally maybe 2 minutes before saying they loved color. lol BUT this lady, an employee of this establishment, actually raised her voice because she was listening in on the conversation that the person who was working on my hair was having. I was like well that was different. The stylist who yelled at me works at the shop to this day and the gal who cut my hair no longer does.

Hey Khadijah. Question for you I’ve been buying Henness silk for a while. Been using the red rage for my gray streaks. But I’m thinking and considering going blonde. Is it OK? You think if I were to dye my hair blonde over the Hennah? If that’s safe or if so, how should I go about doing that?

    • @HennaSooq
      @HennaSooq  8 днів тому

@@lyneemallory if it’s just henna then it’s a bit easier to dye over and go blonde but wistill will take a bunch of colorings to really remove the henna. If there was ever any indigo in your hair color then it’ll be quite difficult and might leave a green hue. It’ll just take a lot of patience and time.

It is not that vibrant red. Maybe the color will brighten in the few days. But I am not a fan of the color on her. I like the first color.

No, it tones down with time, not brighten. She wanted to look like a natural redhead.

Khadijah, I thought cassia didn't have dye release properties

Cassia DO have dye release properties but it Will be fixed un your hair only if mix itwith henna. Try this: 1 spoon of henna and 8 spoons of cassia obovata. Thecolor Will be blonde in GREY hair ( not on black hair, blacks Will be black). This is a nice way to have highlights 🤷 the only problema IS that after some months this blonde henna+cassia dye looks a bit Orange, not nordic blonde, and thats IS why I ask khadijah. Maybe she can tell me how yo get read of the Orange subtone.

Another tipo if you want to have highlights IS to use vitamina C mixed with your shampoo. But this I have to say that i havent tried yet, i just Heard about It. The henna+ cassia i have done ir for a long time.

Cassia alone won’t color dark hair like henna does. Cassia will tint grey hair blonde. I use cassia in place of henna because I don’t want to color my hair. If you don’t want to color your hair, use cassia alone.

@@meteoradegrecia5727 cassia won’t color dark hair. I use it weekly and my hair color hasn’t changed.

Seer channah please read my coments where I say It Will only dye your GREYS. I have many Greys and for me It IS like highlights. Cassia+henna (8-1 proporción) DO dye GREYS very well, that is not a question, my question was how to get rid of the orange subtone.

You never talk about henna for old woman, like old, not just 'some white hair' but full head of white hair. I only see young girls and that's not helpful for more adult woman that don't wanna do chemical dye every 15 days. HELP

And her black eyebrows were a dead giveaway she was not a real redhead. We redheads check each other out and judge quickly. No eyelashes visible is the easiest clue, after that just look at the person's brows. Mine match my red (which is failing to look all that red these days unless I am in the sun). She was smart to try and color her brows, but it just didn't take.

I’m naturally an auburn / copper colour and my eyebrows are light brown and so are my eyelashes. My brother is a more bright red and he has the blond eyelashes. It depends

    I did not use Indigo
