  • Ollie has been a part of my family for 6 years and due to starting my hospital rotations as part of my university degree it is time for Ollie to find a home that can give him all the attention and love he deserves. This is a very sad sale, and I will only consider the very best of homes. I am in no rush as Ollie’s welfare is my #1 priority
Ollie is a 13-year-old, unraced thoroughbred.
We started eventing at 60cm and are now eventing 1*. Due to university commitments over the last few years, I have focused on keeping riding fun and therefore haven’t pushed us to maintain 1* level when I didn’t have the time to train for it. I did have aims for 2* eventing but it was difficult to maintain consistent lessons and clinics with my studies.
Ollie loves other horses; he makes friends easily and he is a pleasure to own because he enjoys hanging out with you whether it be in the paddock or going for a ride. I won’t sell him to a home without a horse companion as I don’t think he would be as happy.
Ollie is a careful jumper and always keeps me out of trouble when I make mistakes.
We have jumped 110cm show jumping courses and he has the scope to go higher if that is what his new rider is interested in. He has won ribbons in showjumping competitions at heights 80c, to 110cm, although this hasn’t been my focus as I love eventing.
He has trained 2* cross country fences and has the scope to compete at 2* level with a confident rider who is training and having lesson regularly. Ollie has no problem with ditches, banks or water.
Ollie is training elementary movements, counter canter, shoulder in, rein back and has clean flying changes. Ollie more often than not places after the dressage phase with scores in the high 60s and on many occasions in the low to mid 70s. I haven’t had dressage lessons for a couple years so these scores are more reflective of my riding rather than Ollie’s potential. Ollie is ridden in a snaffle bit in all phases.
Ollie has gone trail riding including to the beach. He is happy to travel and as long as there is food and friends at his destination he settles in easily. He is well behaved when stabled overnight and does not kick, bite or wind suck.
Ollie is good to shoe; he loads himself onto the float and stands when clipped. He is the soundest horse I have ever owned. Vet checks are welcome.
Ollie would suit a confident young rider looking to compete in the interschool disciplines including showjumping, dressage, combined training and eventing. He would also suit an adult rider wanting an allrounder. While Ollie is a pleasure to ride, he would not suit a beginner or nervous riders as he is a performance horse.
    Price: $35 000
