And where was the culture derived from?

@@worldsgreatestpodcastthe culture was derived from our experiences here in America where we had to stand and fight and struggle for everything we have and achieved. We did not have the option of going somewhere else so we had to develop a culture of resistence which is ever present in every aspect of our culture from the way we practice religion, dress and our music.

*Carlos Cuervo Marquez. Ethnologist, Botanist, MilitaryGeneral, Historian. “The Negro type is seen in the most ancient Mexican sculptures. The Negros figure frequently in the most remote traditions of some American Pueblos. It is to this race doubtlessly belongs the mostancient skeletons, distinct from the Red American race, which havebeen found in various places from Bolivia to Mexico. It is likely that we repeat that America was a Negro Continent -

Indigenous pop: native american music from jazz to hip hop creates a forum for the interdisciplinary discussion of popular music performed and created by American Indian musicians. In addition to examining the influence of popular musical forms from blues, jazz, country western, rock, folk, punk, reggae, and hip hop on Indigenous expressive forms, our contributors similarly note the ways that the various genres have been shaped by what some have called the “Red Roots” of American-originated musical stylesMost reservation agents and boarding school superintendents associated what they called “Indian music” with “savagery,” Indigenous Pop: Native American Music from Jazz to Hip Hop

It's Black Americans not African Americans, most Black Americans don't like to be called African Americans, and we're Americans because we were born and raise in American, so therefore we're from America, and only 3% of enslaved Africans came here in America, and also those 3% enslaved Africans were sold by other tribes because of tribal beefs or whatever, for those who classify themselves as those 3% enslaved Africans you were sold and not stolen, I see some of our people and others need to study history and hidden history as well.

Happy that the young folk are tackling this topic, yet this was cringy to watch..was it due to y'all's immaturity or just not knowing about true Black American culture..nothing wrong with knowing your heritage, but your ethnicity is most relevant today...race is a social construct but ethnicity is real..and Black American Ethnicity/Lineage is not only based on skin color, hair texture and nose size.. you young folks need to learn this whether born in USA or outside of the country.. Africa is beautifully diverse always has been..and so are Black Americans...there is no diaspora war - just some straightening that needs to be done..

The hair weave was invented in 1951 by an African American woman named Christina Jenkins. She received a patent for the hair weaving technique she created and eventually formed a company with her husband, Duke. The Jenkins’ company kicked off immediately; people were fascinated by the invention and Christina was invited by other countries so she can teach them the hair weaving method.

It’s cringe to keep saying “we as in Africans know where we came from” the black Americans sitting there should have corrected you said they know where they came from too America. Because they’ve been here for over 400 years created a whole new culture, if the same logic was given to Caribbean such as a blk Jamaicans or Haitians they will be insulted. Imagine legend making or Asian or Dominican, Brazilian, etc. that they don’t know where they came from.

All modern music is based around black American musical creations even Afrobeat without the s was created by fela was inspired by black American genres such as jazz and rhythm and blues he created Afrobeats after coming to Los Angeles, California and meeting the Black Panther party. That’s where the term Afro came from which black Americans were called Afro Americans at the time the more you know.

Africa is a continent, not a country like China or Italy, that should be addressed first. So being an Italian or Chinese American, has a different meaning compared to African American, to keep all things equal you'll have to compare European or Asian Americans to African Americans.

I don't think people realize African-American don't you have one country they're from they can be from the East Central or West Africa. Our culture would arise from aspects from Natchez West Africa Central and East Africa and a little bit of southern Africa. That met British culture mixed together with some French and the certain experiences that black Americans came through that meeting unique. Also most black Americans been here before most white Americans so simply say we're just American because most of the culture that America has actually music and Innovations came from Black Americans. The dialect you speak is black American the slaying the way you dress is Black American So when you say we don't have nothing back in the sub problem is the same problem in the Caribbean is that the opportunities that we are afforded aren't the best in the country that you are from but we made the most of the opportunities so other people from diaspora can come to United States. So please learn more about black American history or look at how black Americans affected the whole diaspora not saying any other group of black Americans always put up a strong effort to help other black people throughout the diaspora

We're from America, this is our country, and we need to stop saying we came from Africa, because they're going to keep saying that our culture came from them and it didn't and only 3% of enslaved Africans came to America, and majority of Black Americans was already here in America with lands, resources, culture inventions, and etc. We have to watch our words and listen to other people words.

Just to assit you guys. Most African Americans are West African. You are either Nigerian, Ghanian, from Guinea, Senegal, Cameroon, Guinea Besssau etc. A small percentage is from central Africa from the Bantu grouping but the overwheelming majority of you guys are West African. So Burna boy must go and read a book. There is no confusion as you guys sit there all of you have very strong West African features even more than some modern day West African kids. If any of you came to any part of Africa and did not say a single word, almost every African would tell you that all of you are West African just by looking at you. Your phenotypic features are uniquely West African. None of you guys look like East Africans, Northern Africans or Central and Southern Africans.
