    This is great content. Could you please explain the purpose of a testable DE and when to use it?

      You can use it for a test audience - with email ids of your dev / qa folks so that it doesnt go out to a live audience

    1. If someone unsubscribe for some particular newsletter but didn't opted for unsubscribe all, would we be getting that in our record automatically under publication list or do we need to do it manually?
    2. Does the system automatically categorize and recognize the unsubscribed people from the list? If yes, then how would one end up resending email to that particular person does dashboard need some modification at our end and categorize those people manually to other unsubscribe list?
    I am little messed up with this, pls suggest or pls tag me to that time stamp so that I ca rewatch that part. Thanks!
    Also, one request if you add time stamp in description with each category it will be easy for us to revisit that part again without scrolling the whole video.

    I have 2 questions - sorry if it was answered earlier. 1. Can i create a random segment under a filtered segment? 2. How do i create mutually exclusive segments.

      1. Yes you can create a random DE from a filtered DE - you should see the Split icon on the right side in Email Studio > Data Extensions. However you cannot create a filtered DE from a random DE
      2. Random DE segments will be mutually exclusive as the records will be divided as per the % distribution specified. For filtered, it depends on the condition you provide for the filters - if there are records that match conditions for more than one filter then you won't be able to get mutually exclusive DE segments.

    If we have created three group of segments with Random, Can a single subscriber will be available in all the three group or two group ?

    So a DE is not direclt conected to a publication list - DE with a Email Send is pointing to a publicaiton list.

    Hi, When the subscriber provides/updates the details for profile and preference attributes, where will be the inputs updated ( i mean where and which list will capture this details) and how this info is used for further sending/ segmenting the subscribers preferences

      Profile and preference attributes are properties for a subscriber in email studio - you can add new attributes for each as needed - these attributes will be common across all Subscribers and are stored under Profile and Preference Management - help.salesforce.com/articleView?id=sf.mc_es_profile_pref_attributes.htm&type=5. These can be used when you segment using Data Filters and Filter Activity (Lists > Groups) - not for DEs. You can then choose to send emails to the filtered groups.

      @@sfmctrailblazers Thank you for the reply. Incase if i want to see the details user has updated as part of profile and pref attributes, where can i see the details for a specific subscriber. are these the hidden details for the subscriber on the all subscribers list.

      @@venson80 the fields are part of any subscriber list - including All Subscribers. So if you check All Subscribers you should see the values for each of the subscribers.

    Hey Shibu, can you explain how the contact management in MobileConnect work? Right now I'm using CloudPage to collect SMS preference and save into a master subscriber DE. However, customers can reply STOP, which will change their status to unsubscribe or inactive in the MobileConnect table -- not sure how this is captured and where it is stored, but is there a way to keep the SMS preference in DE and SMS staus in Mobile studio consistent? Thanks!

      I havent had a chance to work on MobileConnect yet - but I believe the status of the contact in the MobileConnect Demographics table determines whether they can be contacted or not. If active then u can, if inactive then not. So when they reply STOP if the MobileConnect table is updated to inactive then they wont be sent SMS even if on the DE the status may be different. If the status in the DE is different for unsubscribed mobile contacts, then u can export the inactive mobile contacts and update their status to the DE through an import to keep them in sync.
