This song and especially this version is criminally underrated…
10 Years is so underrated. They deserve more popularity.
I'm still upset that this isn't something you can find anywhere but on UA-cam. It's like it's a forgotten version...

Wow just discovered the rock version. This song is such a shredder. So much emotion.
First time I heard this song, was in high school. I was at some school event, where you stayed in the school all night and there were games and food and it was fun. These two brothers who played guitar sang it. Lol I had a crush on them. They were older. Cute. And they played guitar. I hope they’re doing well, whenever they are. And I hope they’re still playing. I have them to thank for finding this song.

Great version of a great song
The origins of this version of the song are interesting. Jesse was talking on the ShipRocked Podcast about how they were on tour with Mudvayne and their label wanted to turn this song into a single to play at shows. The band wanted the original acoustic version to stay as-is, but the label mixed this rock version for them to play at shows. Naturally, the Mudvayne crowd hated it and 10 Years got beer and change thrown at them onstage. They never played it on that tour again.

man i love this band and this song is great.
During their Division tour 2 years ago, Jesse talked about this song. They were most of the way done with the album and the band was out drinking when the idea for this song hit. They went into the studio ASAP and recorded the version you hear on the album. The next day they came back to do the song again but after hearing both versions they agreed that the first one was superior and omitted this version.
I enjoy both versions but I love the original, there is some so vulnerable and heart felt on that one that i dont get with this, I would have liked to see this as a b side or a deluxe edition of the album, but i feel like they made the right call as to which is more fitting for the album as an entity.
Yes, the original version is haunting. This rock version loses the emotion the lyrics tell.

This "rock version" is far superior. It should have been the original track with an alternate "acustic'' Version.
there's things called ballads and they are meant to express something that someone is going through better, because you can hear the lyrics more, but idk if that's 100% true tho
its louder and and has more going on sure, but i don't think its the better version, I believe the band made the better call as to which made it to the album.
All the added elements in this push aside the intimacy and vulnerability of the version on the album,
I Love 10 years heavy stuff and i love dense intricate mixes but this song is one of the rare occurrences where the stripped down version i think is the better song IMO.
To each their own. I just think that this rock version is BLATANTLY and obviously more 'me' than the acoustic version of a decent song on a 'meh' album that this version would have elevated, if included. Not all agree, but I bet there a ton of others that feel the way I do.
