Webb Pierce ~ Here I Am Drunk Again

- Опубліковано 7 лют 2025
- A great album cut from Webb's Memory #1 Album
I said I'd never do it again
I swore my ways I would mend
But you cheated dear and that's a sin
Here I am I'm drunk again.
I'm drunk because that you are gone
At the bar I'm standing all alone
Drowning my sorrow deep within
Here I am I'm drunk again.
-- Instrumental --
Now I don't like this life of mine
Drinkin whiskey beer and wine
Dear I know this is the end
Here I am I'm drunk again.
I'm drunk because that you are gone
At the bar I'm standing all alone
Drowning my sorrow deep within
Here I am I'm drunk again.
Recorded ~ December 9 1964 Columbia Recording Studio, 804 16th Ave. South, Nashville, TN - Webb Pierce (Producer: Owen Bradley)

LOL LOL 😁😂😆
Good song wow! Just discovered Webb Pierce 20 minutes ago! What an artist wow
Damn,,, I'm jealous,,, I'd like to do that discovery thing all over again !!
Webb was one of a kind,, definitely flawed but one of a kind !!
Wow,,,,,,,,,,, I just realized that in a couple months it'll be TEN years since I posted this video....
I have been listening for at least from elven years old till now I am 73 he use run a round rast Texas 😊
I found his music on that movie hills have eyes 👀's 😅
Wow. This randomly came across my feed. Webb was my Granny’s favorite singer. She has tons of pictures of them together all across the country. I miss her so much 😢
That's neat !
Are you saying she has pictures WITH Webb ??
If so I'd love to see them !!
Webb was my cousin; he grew up with my dad down in Louisiana; i got to meet him maybe 3 times in my life...; love his music; i remember my dad would sing with him; and spit beer all over the place; lol when they got together; good times........good music; i miss them both big time.
That's awesome,, I know Webb would definitely have a beer or three with ya !!
Or without ya !!! lol
No artificial, manufactured twang here. You know this is Webb without being told it's Webb. God bless old school!
This is real country musice they dont make it anyore but people stil feel it to the heart
me too.. .. good ole drink n music.. love the 1960 s real west days. Rodeo s. Clovis . california. keep it goin 😉
this music is good stuff!
Chris Stapleton ain’t too bad for modern country. Whitey Morgan and the 78’s are pretty good too if you like honky tonk country.
Thanks for all you do! Old folks like myself appreciate you. Love all music gospel to Metallica. Hehe. To me lynerd skynrd , Marshall tucker, Charlie Daniel, nitty gritty dirt all barely got played on rock stations no country stations played. Time changed hardly played rock bands now classified as country. Like u say 90s now consider classics. Hehe all different tastes. 😊😮❤❤
I'm diggin' this old school country music. Sam Hunt's "Hard to Forget" brought this artist to my attention. 🎶
Cool,, glad you enjoyed it !
Wonderful talent
Yeah, this is one of his best from that era !!
Ben doğmadan ölmüşsun buna inanamıyorum üstad şarkıların bir efsane ve benim için önemli...
My sister is a DJ at our local radio station KNNB Ms.K n loves playing old country music ❤
It's funny the older the whiskey the better it is , I think this applies to country music. Nothing finer ! 🎸🔊👍🍺🍻🫗
drunk again and listening to this music and loving it
Absolutely pure gold todays so called country ain't country
my dad's name was Earl. we loved this song. i still do
@@maggielong1784 great to hear from you maggie, gl, and happy trails
@@dennislemay8274 you got that right ! It's pseudo country or facsimile thereof. LOL

Best version of this song ever
don't get no damn better than this
Webb Pierce is a legend, one of the best to ever do it.
Always just listened to Webbs 50’s tracks & never dug into his later stuff. Holy shit. Mind blown. This just put me in another dimension (too blazed right now)
Thank you John here I am drunk again I love his music
Lol,, I'm sure Webb would happily have a drink or ten with you if he could !!
@@2packs4sure I know damn well that's right
Thanks for this lovely post by the fantastic Webb
Glad you enjoyed it.
Actually, this song had nothing to do with Webb, he just recorded it. My father, Jack Kay, played the fiddle and was one of The Wondering Boys. My Dad wrote this song and it was about "him".
Yea, I know, that's not what all the Google searches will show you, but I have the original notebook page where my Dad wrote the song and another hand written page where my Dad sold the rights to the song for $100. (of course he was drunk when it did it)
There is a whole other story behind this, and one other song my Dad wrote....the truth died with my Dad, and then Webb, when he passed.
Lillian Kay Smith Nice to meet you, I had never looked into who wrote the song and there are no writers credits anywhere on Webb's Memory #1 album but i did a little digging...........It looks like your daddy and Autry Inman got writers credit on the song on all recordings up to when Moe Bandy cut it.~
~There where quite a few recordings of it, Webb's, Clyde Beavers for Decca, Lattie Moore for Quitz records , Ray Hudsun for DIXIE records,.. probably more, and all those say Jack Kay ~ Autry Inman, they also all say Cedarwood Publishing which was Webb's outfit~
~.On Moe's 1976 Columbia single of the song the writers credits read C. Beavers ~ D. Warden ....The only D. Warden i remember is Porter Wagoner's steel player Don Warden and Clyde Beavers had recorded the song for Decca years before but even on his single Jack Kay ~ Autry Inman have the writers credit.~
~Why it changed suddenly in the mid 70's with Moe's version i don't know.~
~Got to be a story there. It was fun hearing from you and, Thanks, it's a rainy day here in Houston and i love a good sleuth .
2packs4sure AWESOME to hear from you, AND to see where there are places Dad was given credit....I had not seen that before. My brother and I spend time randomly researching Daddy, as new items pop on the net on a regular basis.
THANK YOU for sharing. I have been following you on UA-cam and will continue to do so.
BTW....Webb's son, has a Facebook Page that has a TON of Webb's music and old photos. Michael Webb Pierce Jr.
Audrey has a FB page as well, but looks like she created it, and that was about it...not a log of posts.
I look forward to following your ventures.
Thanks again!!
Lillian
Lillian Kay Smith Well, technically he is not given credit on the internet per se. On the internet i found where Don Warden got sole credit and where Clyde Beavers got sole credit..... where they both got credit.... the internet is a mess anyhow. ~~~
~
~ Type in Here I Am Drunk Again on EBAY and you'll see the old 45 rpm's i was talking about. So he WAS credited back in the day when those singles were cut. He and Autry.... ~
~Did your daddy sell the rights in the 70's because that would explain a lot.Maybe Don Warden and Clyde Beavers bought it and then pitched it to Moe Bandy. Take care,John
2packs4sure I would never have thought to look on EBAY.
Daddy sold the rights some time in the late 50's, early 60's. Momma couldn't remember for sure, and there is not a date of the paper. Autry and Dad were really good friends, so the connection would make sense.
Thanks again!!
Lillian (Kay) Smith
Lillian Kay Smith I'm sure you've heard this one.. Webb was famous for coming into a song early or late, breaking meter, wandering off key, and singing "sharp"So one night, i'm sure in the early 50's, Teddy Wilburn is listening to your daddy tune his fiddle in the dressing room and Teddy says, Jack, you're tuning your fiddle sharp, and your daddy says, well Webb sings sharp!
What an honest song.
Good afternoon John how you doing I can't begin to tell you how I enjoy your music here on UA-cam thank you for all you do
Thanks Peggy !
I appreciate it !!
I love this song since I first heard it a few days ago, I think it's my favorite for now. I guess the way you find "other" songs you might like is to listen to whole albums. When you find more songs you like that were not big hits you can't believe they were never played on any of the so called "classic" country stations/shows/internet radio/satilite radio, etc. To me it sounds like it should have been as big of a hit as "Slowly" or "More and more".
I'm the same way, it seems like I prefer unknown album cuts and B sides over the "hits" 90% of the time.
Thank you for this post. Webb just knows, man.
Webb definitely DID know plenty about this subject, unlike Faron Young, Hank Williams, and others Webb was a great guy, a lot of fun, and could still sing when he was smashed so you never heard the stories like some others but Webb LOVED to booze.
Mel Tillis said Webb was at his best as a runnin' buddy when he was drinking, sober he was less fun.
OH My!! long time ago .Thank you for giving me a chance to listen
drunk again to this music, and luvin it
I just read history, thank you, I'm sure at one time in our lives we felt this way, doesn't mean your a drunk, it's up to anybody to decide
Always enjoyed his singing
my dad would sing this all the time ,,,even sober
Thanks for this Webb Pierce Song Doug Never heard it before Keith The Ct Ranger Cheers
So sorry to hear that as all the best and great country singers of the century have gone to The Lord R.I.P.
Had The Pleasure of seeing Faron Twice Once in Lansing MI And again in Chattanooga TN was super both times personally i like pretty much all Faron Young music my favorite is probally Wine Me Up. And your correct Faron was one of the few artist who sounded as good in person as on record,as much as i like Webb Cant say that about him.
Still listening in 2024
I ordered two of his t-shirts had one on at the restaurant so many comments on that they were all good hell I got even offer me $100 for one this man was a legend in his time
Wow, that's cool !
I didn't realize Moe Bandy did this as a cover song. Can't believe I heard Moe's before I heard Webb's original, and I'm a big Webb Pierce fan.
I heard Moe's version long before I heard Webb's version and like you had always thought it was just Moe's song and that he was the first until I got Webb's Memory Number One album in the mid eighties and as it turns out there are a couple more earlier versions done by a guy named Lattie Moore and another one whose name I can't remember at the moment...
They are both very raw but fun..
I just checked and there's the Lattie Moore version, one by Jimmy Dry and the other by Clyde Beavers,, all rough and raw...
don't get no better than this anybody don't like this don't have no business listen to country music.
You got that right!
I know you never went to the long branch saloon? in OKC
Only recently discovered this version, didn’t even know it was a country ballad originally. Just knew the version by Johnny & the Barflies. So glad I found this one and the one by Lattie Moore
Hey,, I'm glad you found it !!
Bought to pass out on the stairs listening to this song lol
Oh America I love you so so much ♥️🙏🏽
Me too !!
and love to where ever your from!
Very fine indeed! I had only known Moe Bandy's version of this 'un until hearing this. The tempo is very much like Bandy's recording but with a subtly different rhythmic feel.
Your right Webb did help Mel very much in Mell,s early years They helped each other, As for Faron I love his music almost as much as Webb,s
Thanks
I said that after my first hangover 😂😂 😂
What a track
Damn this music always makes me want a cold beer what the hell
Lol, AND the fact that it's a thousand degrees in the shade

Hey John how you doing my friend , I hope you're still free from this damn virus weather sure is getting hot up here in Dallas but yeah just listen to your good music don't get no better ,than Webb
Hey Peggy !!
I'm doing great and even better since that little cool front came thru Houston and dropped the humidity from 206% to 21% !!! :)
drunk again and loving this music
When I hear the "whisky, beer, and wine" line, I think of Ralfy's advice from a quote that is not his own- an old Scot's saying about mixing the three and goes something like this:
the grain and the grape
will put you in a state
but the grain and the grain
will leave you alain

Yes someone shoud wright Webb,s life story,as for the drinking i,m sure Webb did his part but he had a lot of company Hanr SR George Jones Mell Tillis Faron Young just to name a few, altho it seems most are considered Legends or heroes while Webb seemes to be considered a bad drunk
Thanks for uploading
Great tune, if I'm going to sink,
I might as well go to the bottom.
Even with my beer goggles firmly ensconced upon my face I can see this is a great song!🍻
Set em up bar keep and keep em coming cuz tonight I'm drowning out my sorrows.

Mel Tillis ~ These Lonely Hands Of Mine
Webb may have Drank, Maybe a lot but did you ever hear of Webb missing a show due to being Drunk? It's always amazed me how when so called Country historians write about Webb's Drinking its all negative, but George Jones ,Hank Williams SR7JR,Waylon ect are somehow Legeneds or Idols toe looked up 2,I love all these artist music, just dont understand why they are written about in such differern ways,
Faron was AWESOME !
Faron was a singer, he had great range and perfect pitch and control. Webb was a stylist.
Faron was just as good or better live than most country acts were in the studio.
As usual i'm real fussy about my music and i really don't care for anything Faron did before 1966.
For the most part everything befor 66' was too POP, too smooth.
Starting with 1966's UNMITIGATED GALL thru 1972's IT HURTS SO GOOD, that's the good stuff for me.
By 73' Faron lost some range and punch.
That's so amazing that your father wrote this. Some of the best songs were written drunk they say and that was the era Music was good, the world was simpler and people wrote about real things. What other song were you refering too when you said the truth died with Webb & your father? And 2packs4sure - I agree with you on Faron Young I have everything he recorded. It's like Anita Carter and Ernest Tubb, They sounded the best in the 1960's better studio quality and the harshness was gone, What do you think about Kitty Wells? I have everything she recorded from 1949 - 2000 and personally I believe her best years were between 1960 & 1972 meanwhile her "Hits" were 1952 -1960. Webb Pierce was An Excellent Studio singer... All of his live performances were almost always really bad at least on film anyway - I watched one of him in the 70's and it was amazing though but he was wearing sun glasses all the way through it lol
+Mitch Barker Webb was hit and miss live. I've heard some great ones and a lot of weak ones and he couldn't lip sync at all.
I listened to some cuts of a live armed forces show from the early 60's where he was AMAZING and another one from the same era were i think he was smashed and he stank.
I L O V E Kitty, my favorite Kitty is 59' - 69' basically the same as you.
You know, the years were it's nearly impossible to find pristine copies of the songs just like it is for Webb in those years.
By the way, if you have a CLEAN copy of Kitty's album cut True and Lasting Kind from her Dec / 1968 album CREAM OF COUNTRY HITS Decca DL-75067 please post it.
My post has a big pop in it. ua-cam.com/video/MzXln7GMd30/v-deo.html I love that thing for some reason.

Good morning, John, can you tell me if Webb had Christmas music out I came across some Bing Crosby Christmas song wow I almost forgot what a beautiful voice he had
The only Christmas song Webb ever cut was Blue Christmas ua-cam.com/video/fuXLqGuqP6c/v-deo.html
He did a song called Christmas At Home but it wasn't exactly a "Christmas" song. ua-cam.com/video/Yfl3eKx8jVc/v-deo.html

You are right and wrong. Faron was a nasty drunk and a sweetheart when sober.
Webb was a tough businessman, but a GREAT drunk.
A nice drunk, a fun drunk.
That's from Mel Tillis.
Webb was not some out of control boozer. He liked to drink.
There are no stories of Webb falling off the stage or missing dates that i've ever heard.
Tillis does have some hard feelings for Webb, and some great memories, but whether he knows it or not Webb helped him become the multi millionaire he is !!
2packs4sure liked that story.my hubby & him got along great.
2packs, great song. What is the significance of the MO map? Also, where can I get a Webb t-shirt like this one? Thank you, my friend!
I don't know.
That discussion took place here on you tube YEARS ago on one of my Webb videos and we never did get a solid answer.
That shirt was available back in 2012 when i posted this but i don't think it is anymore.
2packs, who is the performer with Webb at the 1:20 mark? TIA
Stop,, you're killing me......
I USED to know that name but it's long gone.
My brain had to make room for me to learn how to use my Kindle HD tablet and even more space despising Hillary Clinton,,, so it's maxed out.
I remember grabbing that picture off of the mystery man's website back around 2012 and that's all i remember.
He was some small time country artist from back in the day and had quite a few pics. of him with some of the biggies like Webb............
sorry, Bro...I did see Max Powell on a poster (who "hepped" Webb with a little harmony by the pool on Memory #1...)
hey two packs lol send that one please to me karaoke ....wilf ???
I'm sorry but I don't know what "send that one please to me karaoke ....wilf ???" means............
That's some straighjt up country right there. None of this hick hop horseshit that the radio plays.
You got that right !! :)
Hick Hop,,,, I'd never heard that term and the fact that it even exists is depressing..
Why has Webb got a map of Georgia on his coat? He's supposed to be from West Monroe, La.
I've never heard the B track on that record.
It was an album cut and never a single so there is no B side.
I wish it was a single cause i'd like to have it on my jukebox..
