I have been trying to find my purpose in life - feeling like I don’t do anything that matters or makes any difference to anyone or anything. And watching you with these babies, and all of the babies you take care of makes me realize that I think I’m meant to do something like this. Even just watching these videos makes my heart full. Might I suggest a Smart LED bulb or two that you can leave on in the room, and set it to a dim red/orange/yellow when you're feeding them overnight. It will help prevent you from waking up too much, and it doesn't use a lot of electricity while still allowing you to see and navigate the room. Especially since most often, you're not filming your night feeding routines. :)

Blue or indigo is more conducive for relaxation and to help with maintaining her circadian rhythm. A orange/yellow glow simulates sunlight or daytime. Ambient evening lighting, such as cooler colors, like blue, simulates evening time (night time). Which would help her stay sleepy.

It's definitely warm light that you want in the evening if your goal is to balance your sleep cycle, not blue light. Blue light's calming properties *have* been studied though, which is maybe what you're talking about. Science is complicated. Certain wavelengths of blue light could calm you down, but your phone screen's blue light or your ceiling light probably won't.

My husband found our second kitty when she was only a few days old, mumma cat had abandoned her under some wooden pallets at his workplace, the moved her and her sibling into a box temporarily so the babies wouldn't get hurt. however, mum returned that night but grabbed her sibling and let her crying, alone and hungry. My husband took her straight to the vet after he finished work that day and was told all the information on how to get this baby cat fed. Getting to watch her grow up from 4 days old into a small kitten, we just couldnt let her go and now she is our very well loved and well spoiled cat and gets along (so to speak) with our adult cat. Getting to watch her grow up into an amazing, cheeky, lovable and adoring cat has made this experience so well worth it.

"How can you wake up every 2 hours to feed the kittens ?" Well, the easy answer is: the same way new parents feed their human baby. Only difference I see is that the human bay cries to wake up mommy or daddy, and at times they also need less feedings. Oh, and one more important difference: kittens start eating solid food at around 5 weeks, whereas with human babies, it's about 6 months.

And that's why she's Kitten Lady!!!
Been following for awhile, my cats are older, 2 seniors, in fact.
Fostered 4 kittens, but they were older, 5 weeks to be exact. They were born in our yard by our neighborhood stray who, in fact, was only a year old herself. We had a cube for her in the winter months and that's where she wisely gave birth. We were able to get the 4 babies when she, for some reason, brought them on our roof and hid then under our solar panels! Two orange tabby males, a calico and a female stripe tabby, 5 weeks. They lived in our back bedroom where they ate, played, litter, and slept for 3 weeks, until I could find a reputable person to find their furrever homes. It was hard to give them up, believe me, but this was the most fulfilling thing! Oh, and we TNR'D mommy, who still comes to eat and sleep here.

I started fostering two years ago because of her and my boyfriend and I now know how to bottle feed. He helps me with am feedings when he leaves for work and we have also socialized a completely feral kitten to a lap cat; I learned every single thing I know form Kitten Lady! She is a wonderful person. I’ve made so many fond memories with more cats then I can count including a mama and 4 babies. I miss one of them so much, the previously feral one that swiped at me many times 😂 but he’s happy in his forever home!

Last spring your videos inspired me to foster kittens. I had never had a cat or kittens before, but I fell in love with my boyfriend's cats and knew I wanted to do more. I religiously watched your videos all spring while I signed up for a local foster organization, getting ready. The day after I came home from college I snatched up a pair of 1.5 week old babies, feeling very prepared from watching your videos. This past summer was the best of my life. My babies were just beautiful and have grown into such gorgeous cats. Sadly, I could not foster again as I had to go back to college, but I am counting the days until semester is over!! Animal care and fostering is my calling, there truly is nothing that makes me happier!

just a thought: how about giving them fluffy blankets to hold onto while feeding them? that way they could use their paws like they do when their mum feeds them? or is it not very practical ?

@@anotherdactyl kittens should be fed flat on their bellies. But maybe you lay down while feeding them. If not then I would reconsider your feeding position and keep whats best for the kitten in mind.

They can be fed upright or on their tummies - I usually loosely wrap them in a fluffy blankie/piece of fabric, and hold them upright, so they can either press against my hand or hold onto the blankie, each kitten is different how they like to hang out... if they're good bottlers, it only takes a minute to feed each one.

I recently fostered two feral babies for my first time fostering and I’m happy to say that they have both been adopted
Sad/annoying part of the story though, the adopter of one of the kittens was told to keep her in one room for the first few weeks, but they completely ignored this and now she’s lost somewhere

I honestly have been able to do what I have done for my rescue kitten because of you. We found her in the middle of the road, alone, no mama cat or siblings anywhere. She still had her umbie and the vet estimated she was about 4-5 days old when we found her. She is now 16 days old today and thriving because of all the education you do on this channel. Hello and big hugs from Florida!!

This is one of the best videos I've ever watched!! The work and love that goes into the first 24 hours is amazing. Each of those babies are so precious and beautiful. And the success during that first day is glowing in each of the kittens.
I rescued a tiny little newborn kitten with the intent of raising him until he was old enough to be re-homed. Well after bottle feeding him and caring for his every need resulted in a very deep bond between the 2 of us. Plus my other 4 kitties had accepted him into our family, so he had his furever home before I even decided on a name for him. DaanTaat and I failed in my fostering attempt but we won in every sense of the word. 😻😻😻😻😻

I am so glad to see this video. My father and I found an abandoned kitten last week in his shop. It took two days to find her. She was trapped between a box and a wall, and her mother left w/ sisters and brothers. When I found her, her eyes and ears were closed. She was probably one week old. In fact she could be from the litter you are caring for by age and looks. I have four adult cats, but I have never cared for a kitten so young. She is thriving but oh those claws. I am so afraid she will claw her eyes out. I tried to feed her the way you show, but she would have nothing to do w/ that.
I have been feeding her holding her front legs down. After watching this 24 hour video, I tried it again, and it is much better. I named her Molly Mae, so now I have five cats. My father will be 92 in a couple of months. He is a cancer and heart patient. This little kitten has added some enjoyment to his life. He puts his hand down by his recliner, and she crawls into it to take a nap. They keep each other warm and take naps together. Thank you for all your information and for caring for these loving creatures.

Oh my goodness! You're a purrista!! When you were shaking up the kitten formula. SO funny! Thank you for your videos! We just rescued a newborn boy whose mama left in a building that was about to be tore down. They left the kitties in a box in the building for a little over a day, but she never returned for the last one. He was starting to overheat, so my husband brought him home. He still has his umbilical cord. Watching your videos has helped me know exactly how to care for him beyond motherly loving him. He's taken very well to being syringe fed. (4 mLs an hour ago) I haven't got him to poop yet, but he was probably very dehydrated and I know he wasn't fed for about twelve hours. He's a strong baby, and I know he will grow up strong now, thanks to you. Thank you again!!
