Something tells me it won't keep this benefit. I feel like if the KAR is as strong as it is now (compared to other bolt/lever action marksmans), where it rivals snipers, just like how some SMGs act like AR hybrids & vice versa, then I can see nerfs inbound. They did it to the BP50 SMG conversion kit, I'm sure they're going to keep the KAR in check with other snipers as well if they really want it to be in that playing field. Which will mean adding in instant idle sway factor to aiming.
When you add a full sniper scope like the SPX you don't reload with a stripper clip anymore, instead you put in one bullet at a time. Allowing you to reload cancel before getting the full 5 bullets.

i love how little they learnt from the longbow best part they increase the hp for a longer ttk but keep adding more one shot weapons that dont care about it- and i am still salty they nerfed slugs into the ground

TBH ppl saying this gun is NOT currently OP cuz of its "FiVe RoUnD ClIp" or its "SlOw fIrE RaTe" seem to not be able to see the forest for the trees. The sprint to fire time and ADS times (229ms(?) via true game data) can beat even a couple of the base SMGs let alone its own class or BRs, ARs, LMGs etc. It's a one shot in ANY RANGE so as long as you hit literally anywhere from "upper" torso and up... even the mfn arms and hands (within 50m b a l a n c e d?) strongest franchise aim assist both rotational and aiming, (doesn't matter what the rate of fire is when the game just guides you to the target.) NO weapon sway until AFTER your shot. which is hard to miss unless you have flipped vision or sumn and it just resets when you re-ADS. not to mention there are ways to reduce flinch so there is that as well. Most of all: it excels in any range; close, mid, long. In a game that has a higher ttk than any other IW CoD before it*, this gun in even the most mediocre hands (such as my own) is a menace and very OP. *strange how for nearly twenty years the community has complained about IW TTKs being too fast and how higher TTK CoDs and FPSs require more "precision" or "skill" cuz its about maintaining aim and not just reaction time and blah blah blah but then every lobby I play in is infested by this gun w a red dot sight lol TL;DR the gun is very damn cheap and is a borderline exploit of the very foundations of this game.
Call me old school, but I think what will complete this weapon (and a few others) is a weapon vault that adds in wooden stocks/furniture for the classic look. Other weapons that can benefit from such a weapon vault include the Kastov rifles, the Bryson 800, and Lockwood 680.
Same. Before I started using it, I looked at the available camo's, trying to find a brown/wood paint. Couldn't find one. The closest solid colour I did find, was clay. Clay was too yellow. There's a solid camo available though that looks brown enough though, think it was from the Cronen Squall. Can unlock it in Zombies mode. What they also could add instead of the brown/wood coloured camo, is indeed a wooden stock. Similar to the M14 or SO-14 and the double barrel shotgun. While they aren't always useful due to low ads-speed and mobility impairment, it adds the classic look to the weapon.
One of the biggest things that kinda burns me about the Kar is the fact that all other bolt/lever action in the marksman category have really shit one shot range compared to the kar. For example, while the Kar can get a one shot from the elbow up even over 50+ meters, the fact that the SPR has insanely less of a damage range even with the longest barrel and high grain rounds (I think it was only 17 meters, if I remember right) just makes me slide over to the "Kar is OP camp." I haven't done any in-depth testing with the other bolt/lever action marksman, but maybe this might be a good topic to research/do a vid for you Ace since you were able to do a similar comparison with the AR's and SMG's of MWII weapons.
The overall TTK in MWIII is higher than MWII, so those fast ADS MWII bolt-action rifles with less flinch and controller aim assist deserved their nerfs in MWIII imo. You still got decent one shot to the head with that fast ADS though. The Kar98K got the fixed fire rate and high flinch to compensate for the fast ADS and long damage range, and I think that it could just need to limit the damage multiplyer beyond the maximum damage range to headshot only because of the aim assist.

Honestly it’s getting really tiring that with every new season, overpowered weapons are released in order to incentivize people to purchase bundles and then when a few weeks go by those same guns are nerfed. It’s an old done to death formula already. Why not balance guns from the get go? Money that’s why.
the gun.. is balanced? its a new and free weapon, of course people are going to use it, the longbow is better in almost every way but its not new and kar98 has a place in many players memories from previous games. XRK is a whole lot more of a menace

It's good for sure, but the firing delay feels so weird to me. I hate that I can see the bolt slide back, and there's still like a .5 second delay before I can shoot again. I've died so many times staring at people spamming the shoot button and nothing happens lol
Yeah I agree. It’s funny when you get into a gun fight with someone else using it and you both have that delay and are just jumping and looking like idiots. Lol.
For the quickscope build, you can actually ADS faster if you change out the stock for the no stock, and since slings get blocked, there are 2 Optics that actually help ADS, namely KR Minitac-40 Riser and KR V4 1X Riser, using this, you get 238ms ADS time.
The riser sight doesnt have a laser, so you can use the sight and an ads laser. Im not a big fan of the sight tho it just feels weird... id rather just use iron sights @shawn4507

This is so ridiculously more powerful than the MW2 bolt action marksman rifles, it's ridiculous. The SPR and SA-B are a one tap to the upper torso (no arms) out to shotgun range. They're headshot only after that.

I found with the bayonet, you can get a charge like lunge when engaging with muzzle down. I do miss that old charge and do love this new weapon for this season.
unironically I love the bayonet attachment. When you're stuck in a room and you miss your shot or don't have time to reload, it has a pretty solid lunch and quick attack that can save you
The marksman rifle category of weapons in this game are a mess. All other categories are generally balanced, but marksman rifles are flat out rickety in terms of guns that can't kill anything vs. crossmap one shots

I was super excited to be getting the kar98k back in mw3. It actually brought be back into the game to play it. Then i saw it was a synthetic stock only and i quoted the godfather. I really hope they release a wood stock for it sometime in the future.
The one thing that makes all quickscoping guns too powerful is how ADS and sprintout time boosting attachment have pretty much zero downsides. Marksman gloves are more than enough to counter flinch. Allowing the ADS speed to be that fast in pure insanity in terms of balence, the Tyr can't ADS that fast.
The age-old problem of bolt-action marksmans: too fast to make them actual snipers (Longbow as sniper was a genuine mistake, let's not kid ourselves here) but also too sniper-esque compared to their semi-auto brethren. Also them having AA is a whole other issue.
Funny thing is the longbow was originally supposed to be a marksman rifle especially considering it had marksman/AR level aim assist before it got nerfed.
@@shadowtitan8545 Yeah, I heard somewhere along the line that they couldn't finish the XRK Stalker on time so they delayed it to S1 and put in its stead the Longbow. Honestly though, I think they should take a good look at revamping the entire bolt-action marksman category because it's been troublesome since their introduction in MW2019.

But at this point just make marksman all semi auto and snipers bolt action with lower AA or combine them together. Battle rifles and assault rifles as well is also an issue, and then treyarch has tactical rifles. Its genuinely so confusing and playing on mnk whenever there is a 1 shot marksman with regular AA rather than sniper AA is insanely frustrating.
@@kaeroseon Agree, the original iteration of marksman rifles introduced in Ghosts was spot-on: semi-auto fast-firing precision rifles with the choice for iron-sight. Then came MW2019 & IW had to muddy the waters even further by introducing single-shot options (bolt-action & lever-action) into the lineup to make the distinction that true snipers are specifically slow-firing; and it's been nothing but a headache since. Battle rifles should have been exactly what they are mostly known for IRL: hard-hitting automatic rifles with the defining trademark characteristic being *extreme recoil* . But since they can't make them too uncontrollable lest they lose against laserbeams, it became the 2nd AR category and it's honestly a huge shame. Tac rifles were 3arc's unorthodox counterpart to IW's marksman and it has been really weird for every iteration that it appeared, I think for BO6 they finally decided to pivot back to Marksman and finally shelved that idea for good now.

I respect you Ace but I just can't agree that this is balanced. RoF and mag size limitations keep it a bit in check but those ads speeds, mobility stats and aim assist benefits are insane. I'm already sick of seeing this in every lobby.
Not to mention lower arm OHKs in range, and only losing arms out of the pretty high max damage range. I'm very against having bolt action MRs because they're the healthiest for the game when they're unusably bad, but even putting that aside, I don't think anyone can reasonably call this gun balanced. It needs nerfs in like 3 separate areas.

I'm one of those "slow but precise" players (if the in-game stats are accurate, I have a 31% headshot rate), but the KAR98 is a hitmarker machine in my hands. If I can't kill my opponent with the first shot, I'm almost certainly dead. MORS was OP, KAR is not.
The M4, M16, and RPK also kept their real names. Why those three specifically dodged it when all the others had their names changed, I really don't know.
Some of it is not wanting to pay for rights, but a lot of it is probably due to California laws that prohibit "advertising firearms" and using fake names is a way around that.
Gotta love multimillion dollar corporations not shelling out some cash for licensing and using stupid names for their weapons like "lachmann" instead of just fucking hk33 or mp5
Anyone remember how much the Community loved the Ballista back in BO2? It had a slower ADS speed potential, a Slower Fire and it had Worse Idle sway. In what world is a Bolt action rifle that is better than the Ballista not Overpowered. Love the Video, but it's so obvious that this gun has a significant nerf coming.
MWIII leans a little too much into ultra modern tactical tier one operator aesthetics. I would appreciate some older aesthetics thrown in there. I mean, like the only wood you see on a gun in this game is the wooden stock for the Uzi.
The damage is insane, the accuracy is hit scan, the quick scoping capabilities are absurd and add the pay to win capabilities of the stupid death animation that you can buy from the store, this weapon becomes very hard to challenge. It's definitely overpowered, but what else is new. Activision does this every season.

@@legendaryleon6270 Probably because they're using at least 1 flinch reducing attachment or perk. I just use the strap that cuts it down by 50% and it becomes very manageable.
The No Stock is causing a zoom bug with all Optics. I've tested the Forge Tac Delta (5x) with and without the No Stock and the optic/zoom are super small with No Stock. I hope they fix it soon.
As a fan of small map mosh pit, I dislike the Kar98K and its camo challenges. Heck, I unlocked One Trick on this well before finishing Interstellar. And, I just found out that the season 4 prestige calling card challenges will require more Kar98 use at level 750.
To me this is pretty well balanced. The slow rate of fire and flinch offset all the pros about it, anything other than a 1 shot kill would make it as useful as a banana. I like it, it’s fun to use too which is the main thing for me, stats aside. I’d welcome some more historical weapons.
The only change Id make with your builds ace is to swap the underbarrel attatchment with another speed enhancing grip. The problem I have with the handstop you used is that it heavily hurts your ads walking stability making it way harder to place shots when strafing. Combine the nerf to ads walking stability and its flinch and its really hard to hit shots.
If you think the no-stock quick scope build is overpowered, counter with hip-fire shotguns builds. If you're getting dominated by Kar98's from a far, counter with autosnipers with overpressured bullets, these will throw their aim off. Sorry, by autosnipers I meant rapid fire marksman rifles with scopes, like the KVD Enforcer, Mtz Interceptor, etc.

This weapon right here is a staple of the CoD franchise. A weapon/lethal/tactical/killstreak/mechanic that is annoying to both parties, to the person using it and to the person on the receiving end. Let's accept it, if people think it is OP, it's because it is OP against the first person you cross. The user can't do much if more enemies appear, but if you were already killed by it, you don't care, you just were killed without time to react.

last good gun that had one shot range is the sb50 from mwll. it was fun using that gun.

We have 5 shot weapon with 250ms ads and one shot weapon with 250ms ads in the same game 😅
The sz holotherm from MW2 is severely underrated, it zooms and has thermal without any downsides. For dmr's and snipers it is unrivaled in MP
marksman rifle better than sniper rifles but thats okay because its a k98 and we are blinded by nostalgia

It's more fun when things are broken for a few weeks. You don't have to buy anything to get the guns, and they're relatively quick to level...

It's good for sure, but the firing delay feels so weird to me. I hate that I can see the bolt slide back, and there's still like a .5 second delay before I can shoot again. I've died so many times staring at people spamming the shoot button and nothing happens lol

For the quickscope build, you can actually ADS faster if you change out the stock for the no stock, and since slings get blocked, there are 2 Optics that actually help ADS, namely KR Minitac-40 Riser and KR V4 1X Riser, using this, you get 238ms ADS time.

The riser sight doesnt have a laser, so you can use the sight and an ads laser. Im not a big fan of the sight tho it just feels weird... id rather just use iron sights @shawn4507
Don't forget the trade-off with additional massive flinch going with the No Stock option.

This is so ridiculously more powerful than the MW2 bolt action marksman rifles, it's ridiculous. The SPR and SA-B are a one tap to the upper torso (no arms) out to shotgun range. They're headshot only after that.

I found with the bayonet, you can get a charge like lunge when engaging with muzzle down. I do miss that old charge and do love this new weapon for this season.
Kar98 is literally the best shotgun in the game
unironically I love the bayonet attachment. When you're stuck in a room and you miss your shot or don't have time to reload, it has a pretty solid lunch and quick attack that can save you

The marksman rifle category of weapons in this game are a mess. All other categories are generally balanced, but marksman rifles are flat out rickety in terms of guns that can't kill anything vs. crossmap one shots

I was super excited to be getting the kar98k back in mw3. It actually brought be back into the game to play it. Then i saw it was a synthetic stock only and i quoted the godfather. I really hope they release a wood stock for it sometime in the future.
The one thing that makes all quickscoping guns too powerful is how ADS and sprintout time boosting attachment have pretty much zero downsides. Marksman gloves are more than enough to counter flinch. Allowing the ADS speed to be that fast in pure insanity in terms of balence, the Tyr can't ADS that fast.
It's 1 addition every update that makes me want to rip my hair out lol

The age-old problem of bolt-action marksmans: too fast to make them actual snipers (Longbow as sniper was a genuine mistake, let's not kid ourselves here) but also too sniper-esque compared to their semi-auto brethren. Also them having AA is a whole other issue.
Funny thing is the longbow was originally supposed to be a marksman rifle especially considering it had marksman/AR level aim assist before it got nerfed.
@@shadowtitan8545 Yeah, I heard somewhere along the line that they couldn't finish the XRK Stalker on time so they delayed it to S1 and put in its stead the Longbow. Honestly though, I think they should take a good look at revamping the entire bolt-action marksman category because it's been troublesome since their introduction in MW2019.
@@CamperN00b47 marksman rifles are just anything that is meant to be used with iron sights. But at this point just make marksman all semi auto and snipers bolt action with lower AA or combine them together. Battle rifles and assault rifles as well is also an issue, and then treyarch has tactical rifles. Its genuinely so confusing and playing on mnk whenever there is a 1 shot marksman with regular AA rather than sniper AA is insanely frustrating.
@@kaeroseon Agree, the original iteration of marksman rifles introduced in Ghosts was spot-on: semi-auto fast-firing precision rifles with the choice for iron-sight. Then came MW2019 & IW had to muddy the waters even further by introducing single-shot options (bolt-action & lever-action) into the lineup to make the distinction that true snipers are specifically slow-firing; and it's been nothing but a headache since.
Battle rifles should have been exactly what they are mostly known for IRL: hard-hitting automatic rifles with the defining trademark characteristic being *extreme recoil* . But since they can't make them too uncontrollable lest they lose against laserbeams, it became the 2nd AR category and it's honestly a huge shame.
Tac rifles were 3arc's unorthodox counterpart to IW's marksman and it has been really weird for every iteration that it appeared, I think for BO6 they finally decided to pivot back to Marksman and finally shelved that idea for good now.

I respect you Ace but I just can't agree that this is balanced.
RoF and mag size limitations keep it a bit in check but those ads speeds, mobility stats and aim assist benefits are insane. I'm already sick of seeing this in every lobby.
Not to mention lower arm OHKs in range, and only losing arms out of the pretty high max damage range.
I'm very against having bolt action MRs because they're the healthiest for the game when they're unusably bad, but even putting that aside, I don't think anyone can reasonably call this gun balanced.
It needs nerfs in like 3 separate areas.

Thankfully I haven't been seeing it anywhere near as much in my lobbies, however the KAR98 is running around rampant like the plague. The fact that thing can ADS/Sprint to fire as fast as it does, while having strong aim assist and very manageable flinch is just ridiculous. I'm getting Vietnam flashbacks of the MW19 KAR98 all over again.

I'm one of those "slow but precise" players (if the in-game stats are accurate, I have a 31% headshot rate), but the KAR98 is a hitmarker machine in my hands. If I can't kill my opponent with the first shot, I'm almost certainly dead. MORS was OP, KAR is not.

The KAR98K is, I think, the only gun in the game that's actually named after its real life counterpart.
The M4, M16, and RPK also kept their real names. Why those three specifically dodged it when all the others had their names changed, I really don't know.
@@calamelli209 perhaps those 4 names aren't "owned" like the rest of them are. They seem to be just military designations rather than licensed names.
Some of it is not wanting to pay for rights, but a lot of it is probably due to California laws that prohibit "advertising firearms" and using fake names is a way around that.

Anyone remember how much the Community loved the Ballista back in BO2? It had a slower ADS speed potential, a Slower Fire and it had Worse Idle sway. In what world is a Bolt action rifle that is better than the Ballista not Overpowered.

The damage is insane, the accuracy is hit scan, the quick scoping capabilities are absurd and add the pay to win capabilities of the stupid death animation that you can buy from the store, this weapon becomes very hard to challenge. It's definitely overpowered, but what else is new. Activision does this every season.
The Kar98K got the fixed fire rate and high flinch to compensate for the fast ADS and long damage range, and I think that it could just need to limit the damage multiplyer beyond the maximum damage range to headshot only because of the aim assist.
Kar98 does more damage to the legs than a victus xmr. Can’t believe they haven’t corrected its damage profile yet

Yet here i am, hitting all my shots on an enemy using a kar just for them to oneshot me without any problems, like they didnt even flinch a bit (istg i watched the killcams and it looked like there isnt any flinch at all...)
@@legendaryleon6270 Probably because they're using at least 1 flinch reducing attachment or perk. I just use the strap that cuts it down by 50% and it becomes very manageable.
This is a sniper rifle dressed as marksman rifle. The one-shot damage range is stupid compared to the other marksmans.

The No Stock is causing a zoom bug with all Optics. I've tested the Forge Tac Delta (5x) with and without the No Stock and the optic/zoom are super small with No Stock. I hope they fix it soon.
It in itself isn't really overpowered. But, it in combination with MW's wild aim assist makes it a bit OP and easy to use.
Please make like a warzone focused vid on this gun no one has good info on damage ranges and attachments
As a fan of small map mosh pit, I dislike the Kar98K and its camo challenges. Heck, I unlocked One Trick on this well before finishing Interstellar. And, I just found out that the season 4 prestige calling card challenges will require more Kar98 use at level 750.
This gun is so much fun to use! It definitely feels more balanced than it did in MW19, mostly because it actually has flinch (and a lot of it too).
To me this is pretty well balanced. The slow rate of fire and flinch offset all the pros about it, anything other than a 1 shot kill would make it as useful as a banana. I like it, it’s fun to use too which is the main thing for me, stats aside. I’d welcome some more historical weapons.
Snipers have always been cods ‘easy mode’, but this gun brings the gameplay to toddler level.

The only change Id make with your builds ace is to swap the underbarrel attatchment with another speed enhancing grip. The problem I have with the handstop you used is that it heavily hurts your ads walking stability making it way harder to place shots when strafing. Combine the nerf to ads walking stability and its flinch and its really hard to hit shots.
The amount of work you put in for the community is insane, a blessing to have you around
If you think the no-stock quick scope build is overpowered, counter with hip-fire shotguns builds.
If you're getting dominated by Kar98's from a far, counter with autosnipers with overpressured bullets, these will throw their aim off.
Sorry, by autosnipers I meant rapid fire marksman rifles with scopes, like the KVD Enforcer, Mtz Interceptor, etc.
Is this 1shot gun, that is very fast in ADS and is easier to use with aim assist than any sniper, is it Overpowered? Yes, the answer is yes.
Put it in the sniper catagory for less aa and maybe increase ads by 50ms and call it good

This weapon right here is a staple of the CoD franchise. A weapon/lethal/tactical/killstreak/mechanic that is annoying to both parties, to the person using it and to the person on the receiving end.
Let's accept it, if people think it is OP, it's because it is OP against the first person you cross. The user can't do much if more enemies appear, but if you were already killed by it, you don't care, you just were killed without time to react.
