Always up for a catch and cook video. You should do that but look for your live bait to get a bluegill with and then use the bluegill to catch what you would cook.

I believe that was actually just a water snake, completely harmless.😀 They have a somewhat similar pattern to a water moccasin, but I don't believe that to be one. A water moccasin also has a much beefier head than a water snake, it didn't really look like that snake had venom glands. A bit hard to tell through video though. I love snakes! I keep many and like to go herping all the time to handle these amazing creatures! Edit: I saw the snake come back later in the video. That is definitely just a water snake! Nothing to worry about! No venom! It could give ya a little bite but it honestly won't hurt, I've taken many bites from many different snakes and that one is one of the least painful lol. I feel silly even saying it's bite is "painful!" 😀
scrolled down to see if someone made that comment. yeah, just a curious water snake. see these guys all the time by my pier. they like to see what you are up to and aren't super shy unless you act like you are going near them then they duck down and swim a bit further away. have them swim by, poke up their heads and watch us, then swim off, and 15 minutes later they are back watching again. can also sometimes tell from the way they swim that they aren't a cotton mouth or copperhead. those tend to swim with most of their body floating on the top of the water, where water snakes will swim under the water and pop their heads up and peak. Seen too many people kill them because they think they are venomous.

Any time you are in Southern IL, you can fish my private pond any time! 1.5 Acre and Ive pulled a few 7-8 pounders out. There are some HOGS in there!
