Italy take on Russia in the preliminary Pool A match as part of the women's volleyball event at the London 2012 Olympic Games (5 August).
Volleyball was conceived as a less strenuous alternative to basketball. The sport became popular very quickly and made its Olympic debut in 1964.

@@trindadetm Brasil tenía buenas centrales esa fue la diferencia, Rusia tenían puntas increíbles y no me refiero solo a Sokolova y a Goncharova sino que también la banca era buena Kosheleva y Artamanova y pues Gamova, pero no tenía centrales como Thaisa o Fabiana.

If Japan won by 3-0, 3-1 or 3-2, Serbia would fail to make the top 3 and Thailand would make it as the best Asian team.
If Serbia won by 3-0 or 3-1, Japan would drop out with 1 point less than Thailand, so Thailand would be the best Asia team.
Out of all the 6 possible scores, only the case where Japan lost to Serbia by a score 2-3, would kill Thailand’s chance. This is because Japan would add 1 more point from losing 2-3 and replaced Thailand as the best Asia on the better set ratio.

Italy was beated by Korea during quarterfinal. However, Korea was a bit lucky during that match. Italy is supposed to be stronger than Kor during the tournament. I'm just saying.

unfortunately italy made the mistake of using almost all old players over 30 and paid the consequences as they lost to a younger team, this also created a gap when those players had to retire, as young players were too inexperienced, that's why Italy performed badly in Rio 2016.
