*Mandatory Introduction:* Between the time when the oceans drank Atlantis and the rise of the sons of Aryas, there was an age undreamed of. And unto this, Conan, destined to wear the jeweled crown of Aquilonia upon a troubled brow. It is I, his chronicler, who alone can tell thee of his saga. Let me tell you of the days of high adventure!
"Know, oh prince, that in the years between when the ocean drank Atlantis and the Gleaming Cities, and the rise of the Sons of Aryus, there was a time undreamed of. A time when great kingdoms lay spread like jewels upon the face of the earth. Hither came Conan. The Cimmerian. Black haired. Sullen eyed. Sword in hand. A thief. A reaver. A slayer. With gigantic melancholies and gigantic mirth, to tread the jeweled thrones of the earth beneath his sandaled feet." This may not be exactly accurate to the source material, but it's pretty close, as I remember. There's reference to several of the Hyborian Age nations in the middle there that I skipped because I'm lazy. But you get the gist.
You know, I actually think that the the the dialog that Yonkosa gave to Conan is so well done, as it makes most of us feel pity and sympathy for a fictional elephant like creature who has been tortured and mistreated by that vile sorcerer, but how Conan responded to it really shows how good of a man Conan really is at heart. Yeah, he's no saint by any means, but he has a strong moral compass and won't back down from fighting against something when he knows it's in objectively wrong. Because men of lesser character would've maybe just tried to run or demand some sort of reward for it, but Conan did not, for he knew that this vile sorcerer truly deserved everything he had coming, and then some.
I simply can't get over the production value of this piece, not only is it incredibly impressive, but also stands as unfaultable proof that bringing to life an audiobook can work. I mean, it's better that the majority of Hollywood productions in the last 5 years or so! Everyone of you deserves huge respect for the voice talent. Can't wait for the next adventure.
Thank you so much Adam - its comments like that that keep us going so really appreciate the kind words. We are taking a christmas break at the moment and won't upload until mid January if not before then ^-^
@@fantasybound3001 To be honest, if you can't take a well earnt break over the festive period, to re-charge, indulge in a little revelry, and remind yourselves of the important things in life. What's the point? Enjoy the holidays, you deserve it.
This is probably the best audio version I have ever heard of the Tower of the Elephant. Truly exceptional. Thank you for sharing this. I enjoyed it very much
A SUPERB PRODUCTION….. 🥇🏆 Robert E. Howard was a marvellous wordsmith, whose notable command of the English language brought his soaring imagination to life, so that we could all visualise the excitement, the mystery, the many horrors & intrigues that he wove into his wonderful collection of tales… Your excellent combination of an accomplished narrator, talented voice actors, ambient sound effects & evocative music, has added a masterfully crafted aural dimension to one of Howard’s literary works, that goes much further than any straightforward audiobook narration of his stories can. That was an EXTREMELY immersive experience. VERY WELL DONE!
Yes I am - absolutely love warhammer fantasy, the lore is so rich! Thank you so much for your kind words - there will be some Warhammer fantasy content coming soon! ^-^
From 22:09 to 22:15 in this recording it sounds the author was thinking about a "shrubbery" of Knights who say Ni from Monty Python's Holy Grail and then James Bond ordering a martini "shaken" not stirred.
I wonder if you guys will adapt some more Conan stories, as well as take a swing at the stories of Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser, and the chronicles of Solomon Kane?
Hi Lee! we have a new conan story coming up this week or next week max. I have not heard of these ones - our team will look these over and see if we can adapt it - thank you very much for the thought!
Did I miss it? Where is the epic line, "From what Hell have _YOU_ crawled?!" Otherwise, this is fantastic! Great capture of not only one of the best Howard stories written, but IMO one of the best written period.
Came here after your participation with Vox In The Void. Love your accent. Amazing story! Loved every second of it. Do you by any chance happen to be a voiceworker for The Book of Choyer?
I know this Conan story very well and I really like the score. That being said I feel that the score overshadowed the narrative. Maybe turn the score down some
I read this story several times in my early years. Know that the narration of this tale does it justice and is worthy of merit.
This was a blast! Thanks for having me! Who is that narrator?....make sure to pay him more, he did a fantastic job! :)

I love this, is it from the books?
@@torq21 From the 1982 movie
The original from the books would be better.

O
I remember the paperback story, I remember the roleplaying adaptations, and I was impressed by this one, too.

Absolutely fantastic work. Best audio of The tower of the elephant. I’ll have to listen to the other Conan stories.
Awesome so good. Really happy to have found this can't wait to binge this whole channel. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Wow! This was incredibly well done! This was my first introduction to the Conan stories. The bar has been set very high.

Damn this is really good, you have done stellar job on narration. Keep the good work up!
Thanks, I wish they would make a movie of this. Have a movie with 3 45 minutes stories of Conan would be great.

Yes, and thanks for kind words! We are beginning on the next tale soon. Details will be on patreon for upcoming content for Conan/the channel😌

Thank for sharing your version of this great story. Although yours has more narration and detail then Baskerville Manor's.

amazing
This is a really good reading and production. Maybe turn the music volume down a bit in future-it drowns out the speech in several places.
Music and background could stand to be a lil lower but fantastic production
I know this Conan story very well and I really like the score. That being said I feel that the score overshadowed the narrative. Maybe turn the score down some
Forrest L. sounds just like Carl Urban.
