Thank you so much for this!! I've been struggling to understand these since I first heard about them in class and your explanation helped me finally understand it.
This video is perfect! Thank you so much for putting this together. Its concise, clear, and comprehensive. Now if I can only recall this stuff on my exam tomorrow.
It did. I passed! It was a pass / fail examination for recent surgical residency graduates for board certification. No questions of PFTs but you video is great none the less.
havent seen such a great, simple, clear and perfect video like this! thank you sooooo sooooo much! you gave me hope to understand the whole thing after been almost desperate, this encouraged me now to keep studying!! there's a hope that i do it :) i'm thankful to you Mrs. Dr. Sadiqi
+yasser shouman Woohooo that is awesome!! I am glad you found this video helpful. Stay tuned I will be making more videos in the near future :) p.s. my name means "Hope" so it makes me really happy that this video encouraged you to want to keeping studying. Learning can be quite fun when it is presented in a manner where we can process it easily and make sense of it :) rather than an hour long powerpoint that leaves you more confused at the end lol
well, I got 2.7 in that Module, its not so good but one half of the test was paraphrased in a very complicated German. My German Colleagues found it also not easy, but i am very happy to get that note. in the other half ( where this Video is relevant ) i got 1.1, it was definitely helpful. Furthermore, i will still need this infos for the coming Semester also. In which Language does your name means Hope!! in Arabic your name ( Sadiqi ) means ( my Friend ) i bet your already know that! but Hope in Arabic means ( Amal ) :) have a nice day and thanks again
This is really good. i think you can include health care problems such as asthma and the vital ones and how it effects the curves and respiration on your respiratory physiology videos. I'm kind of a biomed student first year and this is all i need for my exam but would be perfect with problem solving. :D thanks x
Very good explanation! Please note: at the end you call the FRC functional residual volume by mistake, but FRC should be called functional residual capacity.
She did a fantastic job explaining the physiology behind the lung volumes and capacities but if anyone is still struggling to remember it I made a really short video showing a trick I use to make it stick and answer questions in no time.
*Best video* on respiratory volume and capacities
Vital Capacity (VC) - total amount of air that can be moved through the airways by a maximal inspiration which is followed by a maximal expiration
Tidal Volume (VT) - amount of air moving through airways during normal breathing
Inspiratory Reserve Volume (IRV) - Extra air that can be added to the lungs after a tidal inspiration
Expiratory Reserve Volume (ERV) - Extra air that can be removed from lungs after a tidal expiration
Residual Volume (RV) - Amount of air left in the lungs after a maximal expiration
Functional Residual Capacity (FRC) - amount of air left in the lungs after a tidal expiration
thank you for this simple explanation!
