watched it already from the time you upload it.. when i watch it the views are 300 something before it explodes 👍 you are really an inspiration for making high quality video 😊
Bro you just made the best video edit I've ever seen in my life. And then you say can't wait to show us what your working on next. Thats crazy man your such a inspiration.
Same I’m trying to remember what made me fall in love with videography. Tiktok and everything that I consume these days made me forget what I wanted to do. Maybe I was never sure though
I get a rush of joy when someone tells me my work inspirers them. Pushes them to create more. The feeling of that pushes me to put out better and better content. But Sam.. You're like the king of inspiration! I can't imagine how that must feel. AMAZING
For me, if we're talking about the video - kold does things I dream of, and that's why I keep coming back. I aspire to one day live life like this. From a cinematography perspective, it's the perfect harmony of creative camera work being perfectly synced with the music. When there's a rushing sound in the music, the video is rushing...etc. The transitions keep me tied in. Also, each scene is not necessarily related to the last one, and it keeps me guessing what's next.
ThatsPaco Hey it would mean the world to me if you could go checkout my channel, I do cinematics, short films, tutorials, presets, etc. I am doing a giveaway that will be live for one more day, so make sure you check it out, a sub would mean a lot! Thank you. -Brandon
sawyerhartman just my thoughts exactly. Especially the drawing transition. Probably one of my favorite shots ive ever seen. Hopefully im as good as you and the creator of this video someday
Hey Guys! Any small youtubers out there just wanted all to let you know i uploaded my first video. It would be very kind of you to check it out and leave your feedback.
At 4:27 we see two smiling brothers, one holding the other. In the next frame, Sam stands alone atop a skyscraper, head hung low. The words 'In Memory of Tim Kolder' appear. Seeing these two shots by side shows the deep love Sam had for his own brother, and how isolating it can feel to lose someone so close to you. I never noticed this until now. Sam, great storytelling. Wishing you all the best.
This is my absolute favorite video, I watch it every night before I go to bed because it inspires me so much and it a makes me so happy, just has that vibe you know? :)
Honestly, one of the best video I've seen on UA-cam in a while. The editing, the cinematography, the craftsmanship...all amazing. Truly breathtaking video.
I honestly think Jay's videos are better, in the sense of story telling. Let's be honest here, Sam's video doesn't actually tell us anything, they're just a bunch of well-executed cinematography cut together to make us, the audience, go "wow that was lit" but doesn't really give any depth as to why and for what purpose. I like to call this the "Michael Bay Effect." Which is probably why Jay's videos are much more popular than Sam's or any other "cool editing" videos you see out there because it needn't rely on heavy editing which also proves why Storytelling wins in the case of film making. Point? Have a good story to tell. Cheers!
I agree with Carl Mate ..Kolds videos have more effects and cool transsitions but he overuses them while Jay has a clean and professional look. Kolds videos are great but Ill go with Jay
I don't really think it's fair to compare filmmakers of different genres but if we're going to do it, shot for shot there is so much more depth in Sam's footage and if you factor in editing it's no comparison. Everyone wants to live Jay's life but the better filmmaker is clearly Sam
have you seen Jays new vid in Dubai? Compare cinematic quality to this video. This video has good editing but its overused too many effects too flashy too fast too random: the focus is more on the editing than the actual footage while Jay is very good at highlighting the good parts about the footage and as Carl Mate said: Jay is better at story telling and giving depth to the footage. This makes him better at giving the viewers emotions. When you look at Kolds footage you think "wow thats really really cool" but when you watch Jays movies he reaches your heart. Kold is more a compilation and Jay is more like a movie
I remember after watching this and how much it pushed me. This edit was so ahead of it's time back in 2016. Thank you for this. Thank for the push. You've truly inspired me to pursue video and turn it to a full-time job and starting my own video production company.
+Mr Kurnia I know, right?! it is a little bit hard, but the final product looks awesome. Nice job, mate! :) I made a video too, so you can check it out if you want! Greetings, bro!
I truly must say, this was one of those videos that just had my jaws dropping! You should be getting an award for the time and effort you've put into this video. I know how much effort and time that must be put into this. Your passion and your whole heart can be seen through this video! You are a true inspiration for me. I've seen you grown in your cinematography/filmmaking and photographs, and it inspires me everyday to be better in my own creations and a better outlook on life, as I've seen in this video, you really just live your life to the fullest and that is one of the most greatest reasons why I continue to watch you grow. And I know big things are ahead of you. Keep doing what you're doing, I absolutely adore your work and your aspect on different cultures and countries that are shown so beautifully in your videos and photographs. It has broaden my perspectives on life, and through my tough times that I've struggled, your work has truly gotten me over the line and made me smile and my goal to travel loads and seek adventure! I know that no one would understand me or read this long comment, but I just appreciate people that are so passionate in what they do as they are so extremely lucky to be doing that as their jobs! I wish to be as successful and creative as you are!❤️

Arul what misses in these videos are a real authentic storytelling .that is why Casey neistat is so much better and famous .if sam kolder can combine better storytelling with his amazing cinematography he would be in the top tier of youtube
That is the point not everyone needs to be casey. Audience have a choice and creators have an audience for every type of videos. I love these videos more than general vlogging of every day life..If I may quote Picasso "Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life"
VMKAROUND, One can watch hundreds of such videos(MY YEAR 2016) on one go. but can't watch as many vlogs at once. Casey is best in his work and Kold in his own, we can't campare.
VMKAROUND 365 I agree! Arul and Vivek Vishwanath, storytelling doesn't automatically mean you have to vlog. Here Sam puts amazing cinematography in one video, but there is no story he's trying to tell. The shots that follow onto each other don't have much to do with each other, except their movement for the transitions. I think what VMKAROUND 365 means is that if Sam'd actually include a storyline into his videos, instead of all the random awesomeness, he'd indeed be in the top tier of youtube. Doesn't mean he should or should not be like Casey or should or should not be vlogging. Either way, this video was next level dopeness. I'm sure he's in the top tier of inspiring young dslr filmmakers. Keep it up Sam!
March 2019 and this video still makes me fresh and energetic and makes me realise there's so much to achieve in life with such a small time.. Sam Kolder you are legend.. lots of love from India..
I’ve been a fan of kold since 2016 I keep coming back to this specific video as it reminds me of my youth and gives me so much comfort every time i watch. After 8 years I stumbled across again here and watched his latest video and discovered that he had burn out but he came back now. I just wanna say, keep going kold! I enjoy every content you make!

I think ive watched this video about 100 times now. It motivates, it inspires, and especially at 1.30 when the beat drops my hesrt just flutters and I AM READY TO DO THE THING.. whatever that might be. Thankyou Kold for churning out these beautiful masterpieces
I have watched this video over 100 times.Sam’s videos are so magical and inspiring. He is the reason why I became a creator. His artistic transitions and music simply captivates and inspires at the same time. Video gives me chills every time. I salute you Kolder keep creating.
@UCt4tR3ZcouSbtk_E6L_ebVA For sure Sam is one of those creators/film stars that create and captivate the true and real essence of life beyond all other negative stuff. Truly an innovator and inspiration to the platform. Love it.
Sam's going to keep changing his style leaving everyone else trying to copy him in the dust. Don't COPY Sam, but be inspired by him. There's a reason we call ourselves "creatives". Props to you Sam.

Wow, This video is a breath of fresh air. I was looking for something with 2014 travel video vibes for a while. something with music like "through the wastelands, through the highways". i wanted to find something similar to those videos i enjoyed as a kid in 2014, and this masterpiece is the closest thing i have seen in a while. A million thanks to everyone who worked on this video!
As a content creator this video was the turning point in my life to a big extent. Saw this the year I joined Uni and i knew this is what i wanted to do in life. Seeing the revolution in travel blogging and even after 5 long years I still come back here to get that motivation when I feel tired of the workloads just to remind me it will all be worth it. To make something like this in the future and we know our hardwork never went in vain. Thank you Sam Kolder. ♥️

Dear Sam! Your work is just speachless! You are big inspiration, and great artist! As one of many young filmmakers i want to say Thank You for sharing amazing masterpieces with us! Greetings!
I just watched this for the first time at half speed and it was still going too fast for me to process all the effects that were going on before the next clip started. Amazing work Sam. It's unbelievable, honestly.

really inspiring. watched it the first time years ago, and have lost count of how many times i've watched it but still getting chills from every scene. thanks for this amazing video sam!
Hey Jordan, I filmed a promotional video for a trance festival in cape town. It's on my profile "Easter Vortex 2019". I was hoping you could check it out and critique my content?
Honestly, I'm alittle emotional as I write this but, Sam, thanks for this video. I watched it towards the beginning of 2018. After seeing it, it made me want to pick up a camera. Honestly, I had no idea that that would change my life. Very quickly I dreamed about making videos full time. Fast forward to today, That's my job. Completely self taught. Anyway thank you for this. Your creativity inspired me. And changed the course of my life. Keep doing that your doing!
This video changed my life since fisrt time i`ve watched it. 6 years later I shoot videos for life and growing step by step thanks to this man, Sam Kolder.
sorry for saying but you're not even maybe a pro. the colors are not coherent, the recordings are cheap and blurred. i mean you even use shutterstock videos. you can't be serious about calling yourself a good movie editor.
This video is facking AMAZING! You bring so much emotions in to me.. It gives me a rush to watch this video, and when I saw the ending (In memory of Tim Kolder).. I thought wow... I feel sad for him, but at the same time happy. This is exactly what your (brother?) wanted man!! You are living!! Keep going this amazing art going! Thankyou for sharing!
im just coming back to this video but this is what made me realize life is too precious and short not to truly appreciate what we have and explore the world as what we know, what we have, and what we’ve experienced is just a small scope of the spectrum. he recorded his travels of the world to try and show us how much we’d be missing out of and maybe that wasn’t his intent and rather he just wanted to make a video to show his own travels. but for me, watching this helps me see the message that we all are so much capable than we credit ourselves to. maybe it’s just what i interpreted myself to help me make sense of where i am in life but nonetheless, thank you sam for putting together such a beautiful film that helped me find true value in this world we live in and for creating such a big impact on me and im sure many others.
okay it may be 3 am rn and im in my feels because it’s corona time but im thankful to have been able to see this even though it might just seem like a simple travel video to others.
Every time that i'll feel bad for myself for not doing enough with my editing, or every time I'm losing my motivation I would always go and watch this videos multiple times. It'll always amaze me like it always does. I'll forever be grateful that i've been a fan

I have watched this video over 100 times.Sam’s videos are so magical and inspiring. He is the reason why I became a creator. His artistic transitions and music simply captivates and inspires at the same time. Video gives me chills every time. I salute you Kolder keep creating.
Yes I agree it is just that!!!

This is what makes UA-cam a good place

I just watched this for the first time at half speed and it was still going too fast for me to process all the effects that were going on before the next clip started. Amazing work Sam. It's unbelievable, honestly.

Hey Jordan, I filmed a promotional video for a trance festival in cape town. It's on my profile "Easter Vortex 2019". I was hoping you could check it out and critique my content?
What I'm using UA-cam for 4 years and now I have found this gem. One of the best video ever posted on UA-cam
I was so close to cry during the entire video and literally started crying as I read 'in memory of Tim Kolder' 🙏🏼❤️

Thats your bio💙
This feel like magic.. watching your stunning video. I can truly say your work is a inspiration masterpiece. Thank you for sharing Sam!
This video changed my life since fisrt time i`ve watched it. 6 years later I shoot videos for life and growing step by step thanks to this man, Sam Kolder.
When you say you are a pro and great editor and you watched this video......
I feel you bro, I thought I am doing great until I watched this video, I realized that Im too far from better.
so true
legit
Marcelus Mickelson true, though sam kold has some amazing video’s to work with he’s also a amazing photographer
sorry for saying but you're not even maybe a pro. the colors are not coherent, the recordings are cheap and blurred. i mean you even use shutterstock videos. you can't be serious about calling yourself a good movie editor.
I find and watch this video everytime I feel anxious. It gives me motivation to keep moving on! Thank Sam 🙏🏻
RIP Tim Kolder
Jacco Kooijman tru
Jacco Kooijman literally bro, you summed this up so well! I couldn't put it into words 😳
i appreciate it mike
Joe O I tryed my best :) It's just what I was thinking directly after watching the video..
im just coming back to this video but this is what made me realize life is too precious and short not to truly appreciate what we have and explore the world as what we know, what we have, and what we’ve experienced is just a small scope of the spectrum. he recorded his travels of the world to try and show us how much we’d be missing out of and maybe that wasn’t his intent and rather he just wanted to make a video to show his own travels. but for me, watching this helps me see the message that we all are so much capable than we credit ourselves to. maybe it’s just what i interpreted myself to help me make sense of where i am in life but nonetheless, thank you sam for putting together such a beautiful film that helped me find true value in this world we live in and for creating such a big impact on me and im sure many others.
okay it may be 3 am rn and im in my feels because it’s corona time but im thankful to have been able to see this even though it might just seem like a simple travel video to others.
I cant imagine the time and skill it took to make this masterpiece. I aspire to create stuff like this one day.
Man, every now and then I always look back at this video and wonder if we're ever going to see a 2016 again. Missing the ol times
so true
I agree. I miss 2016 as well 😢
Hey Sam, you continue to inspire me! Another amazing video and in my opinion your best video yet! Rip Tim Kolder

Every time that i'll feel bad for myself for not doing enough with my editing, or every time I'm losing my motivation I would always go and watch this videos multiple times. It'll always amaze me like it always does. I'll forever be grateful that i've been a fan
