40 YEARS: SCOT SCHMIDT | The North Face

When Scot Schmidt joined The North Face athlete team in 1983, he was at the forefront of the Freeskiing revolution. Now, over 40 years later, Scot joins fellow skiers and TNF Athletes Ingrid Backstrom, Dennis Ranalter, Tom Wallisch, & Jossi Wells for a round table discussion on the impact Scot, and his outerwear line Steep Tech have had on skiing and culture.

Scot changed my life. 1984 ski country. My neighbor borrowed it to me and I moved out to Reno and went to college and then medical school and my brother followed me. Also going to medical school in Reno. We were skiing 60 to 70 days a year as college students and, even 50 days a year as a medical student. My brother still practices and lives in Reno. So many good memories at Squaw.

Cool. This man was my skiing idol as a kid! I would go around my not-so-snowy hometown in Southern California jumping off of random stuff and imagining that I was Scot Schmidt doing yet another cliff huck.😃
