i love how if you lose to any of the previous fighters after defeating sandman or Super macho man the narrator will explicitly say their are the champion of the world, so literally its possible to hear "introducing in the red corner the champion of the world G L A S S J O E"
The inclusion of Dragon Chen really surprised me. It officially proves to me that Nintendo has been re-using their assets so much the origin of some characters may as well be in the 70s.
I’ve always found it interesting that Bald Bull gets that little bit of extra introduction: “…in the red corner…” Seems like even then he held a special place with the dev team.
its cuz he was the first punch out character ever designed!! probably also why hes in every punch out game AND arm wrestling, since they were made by the same team
It's easy to tell he's clearly the Dev's favorite character! He's tied with Mr. Sandman and Super Macho Man for being in the most games, 4. However, he had not one but *two* fights in Mike Tyson's Punch Out!!, but he was also the only character in the series in a spinoff game called Arm Wrestling, under the disguise of "Mask X". This wasn't just a reference, either, the main way to win the fight is to pull off the mask and reveal it's Bald Bull. It's also easy to tell the Dev's *least* favorite character. I'd have to say either Pizza Pasta or Kid Quick. Both of them debuted and we're never seen again after the first game. They're both extremely lazily designed and not memorable in the slightest, but at least Pizza Pasta was a tough fight, is ranked higher than him and runner-up to Mr. Sandman, and even has his own special attack, the grab. Kid Quick doesn't even move that fast, he's actually kind of slow. These two really feel like filler characters to say the game has 6 stages of gameplay.
