that's one neat invention Lee made ways back.
Glad you made this video, I've done some research an not many videos went into detail like you. I've noticed people like to talk down on the lee loader because it takes common sense(not common anymore).
It's cheap and it does what it was designed to do. Thanks for watching 👊🇺🇸👍
Pretty cool DR! I can see how or why this is convenient and easy. No frills or whizbangs or gadgets but efficient. Pretty good for a guy on the move with some empty time on his hands. Thanks for sharing!
It's kinda fun, and a cheap way to get into the hobby 👍🇺🇸
Sure beats dragging your Dillon press around with you. I made some of those dummy rounds for each cartridge when I first saw your videos on those. GREAT idea. I seen some people use a flat steel or razor blade-type steel to level off the powder dipper. They say a business card works well but to be careful of the card bending and flicking powder all over the place. Recent video, my camera also stopped recording in the 60-degree weather for some reason even though there was still about 45 percent battery life. Got back home and it turned back on normally.
I've tried the card trick and it's pretty consistent. Once you get your technique down you can throw powder from the scoopers rather easily. That's a bummer your camera died. I always have something fail or go not so as planned so you have to just roll with it.👍🇺🇸
Wow. Never seen reloading done like this. Pretty neat
Not too bad! It's a cheap way to get into the hobby or have a portable set up for camping or whatever 🇺🇸👍
@@DummyRound Would you happen to have a list of items you use for this?
Lee Loader, chamfer/debur tool, case length guage and cutter for trimming, primer pocket scraper(optional), mouth expanding tool of some sort for pistol or cast rifle rounds, and your standard components that go into reloading, brass, primer, powder, and bullet. A digital scale and funnel help with more accurate powder measuring, but the scoops are plenty fine when you get a consistent technique. A bowl for powder is helpful. You can always add more, but that should be a good start.
I wish I could transport 1 of those at my work, but for now I will have to wait.
Nice video
Thanks! 👍 It comes in handy when I have down time.
Your .223 case has a purty mouth...
I thought that would be funnier and more appreciated than useless complaints about safety.
🤣🤣🤣
Great video brother!
lol they sure were purty! Thanks for stopping in, my friend!
Cool Beans, DR. I need to get my kits out. I have several, but have only rarely used them. Good video! 🤛🏻🔫🇺🇸
They have their uses and are a cheap way to get into the hobby. Thank you, my friend🇺🇸
The "Lee Loader" is a great bit of gear to have on hand. BUT, I only use it to re-load the brass from my own Rifle.
Picking up random brass or "Strays" as some members of my Club call them, can be problematic.
So, be very cautious. It's easy to get into trouble using the "Neck Sizing Only" tool kit of the Classic Lee Loader on brass that HAS NOT been "Fire formed" in the chamber of your own Rifle.
You are correct, brass that doesn't come from the rifle it is going back into will have the chance to be problematic with neck sizing only👍🤠🇺🇲
Nice!!
Thank you! Cheers!
I too just did 1000 Soft point. 55 gn. Shot .24” at 50yds. Sot sub MOA at 100.
Awesome, what powder are you running?
@@DummyRound accurate 2200. 21.5 gn. Ive had great results with accurate powders.
I had 1.6” groups at 200yds with a single stage mil spec trigger on a $20 bipod an $100 scope. 300 ARMS upper 16”. 😂😂😂.
I could not see the impacts and honestly expected nothing resembling a group. Any mistake in the trigger pull resulted in being 2 feet off target.
I Just put a 2 stage in last night.
The only nice part on this new build is the upper.
Cracked 10” steel at 200 with the same ammo 11.5” red dot and 3x magnifier
@@DisgustedGenXr Sounds like you landed on a good load! I don't have a lot of experience with Accurate powders for rifles, but their pistol powders are working well so far. I've been playing with #2 in 38 special here lately.
@@DummyRound i only load 9mm and .223. Just took on .300 BLK this week and my first run is apparently a little too weak to run the bolt. 208 BTHP 8.6gn H-110. Going for 9.0 next time out
Perfect
Thanks!
What are you using for the primer and bullet
Ginex Primer and 55gr Soft Point here. Thanks.
I just bought one of these. I notice the press flattens the nice pointy lead tip the Hornady 55 gr bullet head... is this correct? Wont this alter BC of the bullet?
Yes, it will certainly change it. Is that amount measurable? For me, it's hard to tell since I am the biggest variable👍🇺🇸
I’m thinking of getting this. Does this produce consistent accurate ammo? I have a nice rifle and I want to feed her hand loads and not junk factory ammo I see in stores.
Add a cheap digital scale and find a powder charge your gun likes and you're good to go👍👊🇺🇸
@@DummyRound for sure! I’m going to get this and some other tools
Sorry, just seeing your reply. I hope you enjoy your new hobby. Stay safe👌
Can you use these loads for an ar-15 or just for bolt action?
It is intended for a bolt gun, but you can single feed your AR15. You might get some to cycle through once if the brass originally came from your chamber, and it wasn't a hot enough load to fully form to the chamber.
I'm thinking to purchase this kit for reload 556 but I've read somewhere that it's not appropriate for semi auto because it just does neck sizing. Do you use this kit to reload for semi auto? Does it work fine?
That is correct, in that it will only neck size. IF it came out of your rifle, you MIGHT be able to get a reload out of it for your AR15. I have a Howa 1500 bolt action that I like to play around with.
Just get buy a case sizer as well and your in there bud, simple.
Great vid! No crimp?
No need, these are going in the bolt gun. Even then, probably not 100% necessary for an AR, if that was the goal. Thanks.
Didn’t realize they made those loaders for 223. I’ve got the 30-30 set
There's a few more I want to pick up!
👍🏼🤘🏼🤟🏽💪🏼♥️
Morning!
@@DummyRound I have a new MP 65g 22 mold headed in to me!!
That sounds pretty awesome. Looking forward to seeing it.
where can I get the tool you used to scrape out the primer pockets? whats that tool called?
That's the Lee primer pocket scraper, only a few bucks bit.ly/3Gty2ar (affiliate link) Thanks 👍🇺🇲
Get some.
Load em up👊🇺🇲
@@DummyRound Ever use a tumbler?
Usually?
@@DummyRound Ok. I’m considering picking up a Lee loader, but I noticed most videos don’t mention case prep.
What are you loading
Where by ? Bro
I was inside a work trailer somewhere in Colorado
Hotel room desk…..🤢🤪🤯
I HATE traveling for work, but I’ll have to try this next time I’m stuck in the room for a week at a time!
Give it a try. Maybe a straight wall pistol case would cause less commotion?
@@DummyRound 😂 maybe so.
Well enjoy the freedom you have when you’re stuck in the room any way you can.
Quicky
Morning!
Neck sized range brass may not work well .
Lol, Probably not, but it passed the gauge?
Range brass? Neck size only? Not safe. Fired from your rifle and loaded like that, i can except, but not range brass! Not safe practice!
Well, this will be their 3rd firing. It was range brass, then small base sized and prepped and ran through my AR, then just the neck size here for it's 3rd load. It passed the case gauge. Only have the few loaded right now. If they don't work, lesson learned. Thanks for the concern👍🇺🇸
What’s not save? Unless their chamber is a wildcat using 5.56 brass I’ve NEVER found range brass to fit any of my sloppy 5.56 chambers let alone my White Oak chambers without a shoulder bump almost always. He’s using a case gauge, so it either drops or not. Worst he’s out 50 pcs that won’t chamber. People need to chill on UA-cam comments bc if you’re using only Dummy for advice & technique you have no business reloading. I thought it was a very nice video for those not wanting to take the entire plunge on the occasional reloading.
@@f_mcdougall if he had stated that this was 3rd loading and that this brass had been full length sized b4 he loaded it the 1st time, then there would not have been a comment made. I would have agreed that it was safe at that time. Clarification and communication go a long way.
At roughly 35 seconds in I mentioned they were at least twice fired so I did not have to ream the pockets out.
As long as it fits in a case gauge and no cracks on the case there all good right? except for shortening them down with a case trimmer of course.
