    My family and I are currently living in Seattle. I love the environment here - so green! But it's so hard to make friends here. I'm looking into moving to Pennsylvania because it seems to be pretty green and lush. I am very much into gardening. Hoping to visit the area in a couple months to check it out.

      If you’re already used to a bit of slower living you’re going to love it here 💗 lots of hiking trails, natural waterfalls, skiing, biking and historical sights! Gardening is very popular out here too and most people are a part of Facebook groups where they share gardening tips 🥰 I hope you enjoy it when you come this way!

    How is internet , I need really good reliable service, I’m a remote worker and my internet has been an issue

      Okay so what I will tell you is there are SO many dead spots in PA so if you’re going to move, I would always check service while you’re looking at houses. My house is dead smack in the center of a dead zone so without my wifi, my phone literally doesn’t work. But I don’t have a hard connection for a computer I only have wifi so I wouldn’t know what to say about just internet. My WiFi works perfectly though if that means anything lol

      Honestly, I’m not from Pennsylvania! So I might not be the best person to ask lol but I do love Reading, PA and certain areas of bloomsburg. I am super into the more crowded areas so this is a hard question lol, I feel like all the areas that still have things to do are also bombarded on the weekends so it still ends up being crowded but not during all times of the year. I live in the Poconos and it’s nice and quiet but still super touristy on the weekends. Sorry I couldn’t be more of a help!

    A lot of that is pretty standard for small towns. I'm from Chicago, currently live in Brooklyn, and I'm working on relocating to the Poconos area. My dad retired to rural Michigan and had many of the same complaints. At least you're still driving/bus ride distance from NYC or at least the better parts of NJ if you miss the food/nightlife. I recommend learning how to cook!
    I like outdoors stuff and look forward to getting out of the chaos of the big city. My only real concern is snow and bears. How often will I have to wrestle bears?

    • @lifewithasianicole
      @lifewithasianicole  11 місяців тому +3

      Best thing is, the poconos has made me realize how much I LOVE learning new recipes!! Coming from the city, I loved trying new cousins in places that would cook the cool things for me lol but now I can cook some of those so there is an upside lol. As for bears and snow, I can tell you that my husband shovels and by the time he’s done it’s snowing again 🙃 he recommends making someone else do the labor 😂 the bears are friendly in some areas, I have actual video footage of bears just walking right up to me and some that just sit even if I’m walking by lol. Just be careful on hiking trails because they can be a little territorial. But for the most part no bear wrestling unless you want them (and the deer) to stay out of your trash 😂

    Thank you a ton for this video. Helped me make an informed decision. What parts of PA are diverse ? I cant move to Philly so I need other options badly.

      Lehigh Valley, but parts of it have gotten very expensive due to NJ and NY transplants.

    • @lifewithasianicole

      Because the Poconos are so close to the city, it’s slowly becoming much more diverse. If you stay near Allentown, Bethlehem, stroudsburg and Easton it’s much more diverse than other areas! Also, the suburbs of Philly aren’t bad at all and you would still be close to the city! Hope this helps!

      Hi! I’m glad you like my video 💕 it depends where you’re at in the poconos but for the most part you’re seeing deer (like a lot) groundhogs, a huge variety of birds, foxes, stray cats, and lots more that lol. Hope this helps!

    • @lifewithasianicole
      @lifewithasianicole  7 місяців тому +1

      Hey! I will tell you that since I’m from the city, most of the Poconos seems much safer than where I’m from 😂. BUT I will share with you some places that I think are NOT safe. Allentown (although fun and more urban) is like car break in central lol and Tobyhanna is rough as well. Stroudsburg has lots to do but is still very college town feeling (closer to Main Street at least) and is rowdy during the weekends. Pottstown is another area I’ve been told to stay away from (although I’ve never been personally). Hope this helps!

    Business service sucks! in the poconos they dont keep appointments, I never met a contractor or mechanic who was not on drugs and they charge more than nyc. the gas is higher in pa than in nyc which is crazy...The food also sucks big time its only McDonald's pizza, chinese food and beer!!!

    You have NO idea what "lack of diversity" in restaurants is! Try Belfonte PA (near State College. Exactly 8 restaurants in the whole town and 6 of them are (bad) Italian food. We saw that repeated over and over in our trip across PA. The Poconos is a tourist spot. There are a number of different kinds of restaurant out there (none of the great) but nontheless different.

    • @lifewithasianicole
      @lifewithasianicole  Рік тому +1

      Hey! I hear you, that’s so crazy! Coming from New York it was definitely a change for me because I had options everywhere I turned. Only recently has the poconos started to expand their food diversity (even more than when I moved out the first time in 2014) but I hear you, clearly there are other places that are worse off than here! Don’t know if I’d be able to survive off of 8 restaurants lol

      Absolutely true. No good food in te Poconos. Countless miles driving…no walking convience. The city is now the Poconos because everyone from the city brought it with them. I’m sure it’s easier to live in the city. Jobs are not available either. Only 2 large employers.
