Beautiful bike build
Thanks for commenting, it turned out to be a good all-rounder and still going strong 😀👍
Wot? No mudguards? It mustn’t rain much on the South Coast. Lovely bike and great mechanical skills. Hope Julie has many happy miles and smiles with it.
I will give in and put mudguards on this one... 🤣 Cheers Nasir
Wheelers At Large goes all ASMR... Love it! Very relaxing.
And quite relaxing to do, it came together nicely👌 Cheers...
Wow now that was strangely satisfying to watch. Nice bike indeed.
Thanks Michelle... Julie's pretty happy with it too, just needs some purple 👌
As nice as CF and aluminum frames are, steel frames have a certain aesthetic quality that's hard to beat. Just beautiful.
It's a good looking frame for sure and we're hopeful that it stands up to the test of time. Cheers for commenting 👍
A true artist! What a beautiful bike!
It came together really well which was a bonus, a nice relaxing build. Cheers Ken
Just got this frame for myself, I intend to go for the sensah 1x11 groupset, I'm getting so much information from your video! Though I have to admit, I think you have a great voice in terms of insight, would have liked just a bit of voice over, maybe not a walkthrough but more like your thoughts on the frame, feedback on the components, tips and just a bit more B-roll on the finished product. Either way great vid, really helpful and made me feel more comfortable on my first full build, cheers!
Ah, you mean like a proper build video 😁 I have thought about it and maybe one of these days I will do a voiceover. I have the 11 speed for about a year and it works great. I went for the 12 speed this time as the price difference is much smaller than Shimano or SRAM 11 to 12 speed so thought I'd give it a go. Seems reliable so far. Cheers for the comment.
Wow, that was filmed incredibly nice!, such a beautiful frame and components and very pleasing camera work as well 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Thanks... 👍 It was hard to tell from the pictures so wasn't sure but happily it does look great straight out of the box.
By the looks of your wrenching skills, you have quite a few builds under your belt.
Just a few, and needs must as Julie doesn't seem too keen to build it herself 😆👍 Cheers Perry...
nice video and supernice build Mr Wheeler, enjoy the bike - good luck waiting for nice weather though, just get it muddy and smile :) There are lots of positive reviews about that groupset but the standard cable brakes are meant to be a bit weak unfortunately - on a lot of other builds they do get swapped out early on. Good looking bike though!
I can confirm the bike has been ridden and it did get muddy! 👍😂
@@julie-wheelersatlarge nice :)
Master builder. Awesome job.
Thanks Scott 👍
Nice one Mike lovely job.
Thanks Terry, this will be Julie's daily commuter so I'm interested to see how these parts stand up to the British weather...
Great video Mike. I'd like more like this. Sure you don't build that often but you obviously do weekly maintenance and repairs.
Thanks Paul, I've considered maintenance vids but I often just want to get it done so I can ride the bike 😁👍 we'll see what needs doing that could be interesting.
Nice build. I'm seeing more Sensah group sets out on rides now as well as more left field wheel choices. I get the impression that Chinese quality is coming up and is able to compete with more mainstream brands. Kind of reminds me of the rise of Japanese manufactures in the 1970's.
Yeah, I think the quality is good and the marketing will improve which is where the Chinese manufacturers need to catch up. Thanks for watching.
Chinese stuff is good as long as you don't buy the bottom of the barrel stuff. They have been the world's factory for more than a decade now so it won't be any surprise if they actually know to manufacture stuff well.
If Shimano Tiagra becomes affordable to a budget cyclist like me, i'd get it. But for now, Sensah presents better value of money.
@@sepg5084 I had Tiagra (mechanical) on the Toughroad and it was great 👍 The Sensah 12 speed was a small upgrade from the 11 where as upgrading to 12 Shimano or SRAM is 1000 or more and I was intrigued to give it a try... So far so good.
I wonder if Tiagra hydro might go to 11 speed?
The main stream brands are made in china
Fantastic skills on display, well done Mike.
Thanks, just a few little tweaks and bottle cage required to finish it off 👌
Brilliant, very informative and intuitive, thanks Mike 👍
Cheers Peter, I should do more of these but we're running out of room for more bikes 🤣
Beautiful bike and amazing skills, I am chartreuse with envy Mike!!🤢
It's a good looking bike Andrew but I'm not sure Julie deserves it, she's already fallen off it. What can I say 🤣
Sweet looking bike. At 9.7kg for a full build, it sure beats my old aluminium specialized bike in both looks and weight.
Thanks for the comment. It turned out lighter than I expected. Just added full mudguards so probably over 10kg now but a fantastic commuter or comfortable endurance bike.
Great job Mike 👍
Thanks Andrew, the bike came together well I think 👍
Thank you for video! What adapters this frame requires for flat mount standard brake calipers?
This frame came with flat mount as standard but flat mount to post mount adapters are available so MTB or Road calipers would work.
Love steel! I find it very comfy…
No complaints from Julie on that front, just a little moan about the lack of purple 😁
9.7kg is not too shabby for a steal build. Plenty of aluminium bikes out there heavier.
It'll probably be just over 10 with mudguards but it should be pretty capable. Really pleased how it came together.👍 Cheers
Sweet looking bike, nice job 👍
Thanks Jeff, was hopefull it would turn out well and so far Julie loves it 👌
At first look, that finish almost looks like titanium BTW
Nice bike Mike but do your neighbours oftern scream 😂😂
🤣 Yeah next door had some kids in the garden, I was hoping for birdsong but that's reality...🤣
I got here because I was looking about the frame... Honestly it looks gorgeous and I am curious about the steel light frame vs aluminium frame. I want the bike for city and training in roads. What do you think about this vs a road/gravel Aluminium frame?
Thanks for commenting 👍 This frame is more suited to all terrain riding as it's more on the stable side than responsive like a road bike. That said, we haven't tried it with skinny tyres which may change the characteristics.
@@WheelersAtLarge I am using 32C which I feel good enough for road but still comfortable commuting. 28C could work as well but I haven't tried them yet.
Hi may I have the list of components that you used. I am looking to buy the same frame and get it assembled for myself. Thanks
What a beaut!
It came together nicely, really pleased with it and it fits Julie really well too. I think we'll call this one a success for now...👌
Who made the frame and who sells them.
Fantastic build.
This is a GX5300 steel frame with carbon fork from AliExpress. Julie uses it for daily commuting and it's proved to be up to the task so far.👍 Cheers for watching
Great video. I’m using the same frame, the dealer says I can install a rear shelf, but I didn’t find a suitable one, normal shelfs will interfere with the frame, do you have a suitable recommandation?😢
Not sure but the connections look quite standard so you should find one that fits. The only down side is that there's only 1 set of bosses at the thru axle so that will need to take mudguards as well if fitted.
You're right, steel is real. Awesome build mate. That frame is beautiful.
I finally got round to rebuilding my Marin the other day.
Sometimes it's good to tinker with bikes, even with the filming I found this quite relaxing. Good to hear your Marin is back up and running Ian.
@@WheelersAtLarge I'm heading off with the caravan and bikes for a couple of weeks hunting down gravel roads, maybe even a tunnel to yehaw in 😀
Nice build! At 2:00, it looks like you're using the CVR Hardrock crank, but with a spider to fit a Stone 46/32 chainring? Which spider did you get?
It's a ZRACE Road Direct Mount Spider. Works well👍
Hi, is the frame painted or plated?
I'm looking at buying one of this and was curious
It's not painted but could be a thin lacquer? High quality welding and finish either way 👍 Cheers for commenting
Nice build, but just a point from me explain what you are doing
Cheers Andrew... I probably won't do that but never say never 😀
hello I'm going to buy this frame, so your video was very important for me. Then, I have a question. What is this frame size?
This is the 52cm which is marked as Medium but it is very slightly on the small side of medium. Would be worth comparing the measurements to a bike that you have and like👍
Nice job Mike. That's a good looking bike.
Cheers Dan, it's a good looking bike for sure... Julie says it rides nicely and is comfy too, so all good so far👌
Whoa that's some top quality bike porn that is - a cracking video of the build too.
Lucky Julie! Mind you, I'd just want to hang it on the wall and sit and stare at it rather than get it all mucky!
Sensah Empire has been getting some good reviews - Luke's channel Trace Velo is a very interesting channel to keep an eye on.
Great stuff!
Cheers Mick, Julie rode it in the Forest today and it definitely got mucky. I'm really interested to see how the parts cope with the British winter.👍
@@WheelersAtLarge Ah well, at least (unlike us down here) you're not on a hosepipe ban so Julie can clean the bike again easily. You do clean your own bikes, don't you Julie... 😉😛
Great video ... beautiful looking bike. I have just had a titanium all road bike built ... bloody amazing to ride. I hope Julie gets much enjoyment from it. Great job Mike.
Sounds great Martin, I've long wished for a Ti bike... Julie has ridden this one now and seems pretty happy with it, a lot more comfortable than her Merida for day to day use.
Great job, Mike. You have some crazy good bike repair/building/setup skills. 👌 Beautiful bike.
Thanks John, it actually went together nicely and we're very happy with how rides and looks...👌
Do you know if this frame can take a 1x setup?
Don't see why not... It's a standard 68mm threaded BB so 1x should be simple. Cheers for watching👍
Thank you 🙏
Respect, Mr Wheeler.
Thank you Stephen. Now if Julie could look after it instead of throwing it on the floor... 🤣
