Hi Chuck, very nice to meet you. I just want you to know that you are the Norm Abrams of leatherwork. I learned a lot about woodworking from watching Norm and I'm learning just as much about leather work from you. I just love your videos. You are making my life better! Thought you should know.

Hi Chuck! Just a quick note.... I started working with leather about 1 year ago (lifelong dream and I waited until I was in my 7th decade to start!). I found your series of videos and have seen most of them. So I blame you for continuing to "fan" this passion I have developed for leatherwork. I made your "fringe purse" for my wife (hand saddle stitched to boot!) and I can't rip it from her hands! I expanded from simple leather cutting/stitching to now using a heat press for lettering to dress up some items with various hardware. I could be living a life of leasure, sitting on a beach somewhere but Noooo.... I have to work on a project! I have so much leather in my house now that it smells like a new car! THANKS Chuck! Keep up the great work!

Hey Chuck! So cool to see you here! You taught me how to get into leather craft in 2011! My dad had just died and left me his gun collection. I wanted to make some holsters and met you at brand x leather store in Atlanta GA. You took time to set me up with what I needed and showed me how to use each tool. So patient. A lot of the stuff in these kits are the items you recommended me over 10 years ago and are still used weekly on my projects! You are the man Chuck! Thanks for everything. Hope you’re doing well.

From Chuck: Seeing your comment made my day! “Brand X”. HA!!!! I miss managing that store because I miss working with folks like you. That was the biggest payoff. You mentioned weekly projects so I assume you are jamming with the leather! How cool is that. Best of luck to you always and thanks so much for this one!

Really wish the 2.0 existed when I started. Would've saved me the pain and money in buying/testing cheaper tools that I don't use anymore.
There really is a lack in the market for good quality beginner kits. I'll be recommending this to anyone interested in the craft.

Thanks for the enthusiastic videos. My experience so far is to watch you and look at a getting started plan. This video certainly helped. A point about your kits (remember I don’t have any tools yet), it seems for me I’d start with kit 1. My next step wouldn’t be Kit 2 as it has duplicate tools to Kit 1 I believe. I’d prefer an option for kit 1 then a kit 2 that contains the additional tools with no duplicates. Second point, looking at some of the beginners leather kits you offer, it seems like they recommend some tools not in either kit. Seems like there should be a way to get from Kit 1 to what is needed for the beginner leather projects.
My comments are just a pre-beginners perspective looking at a likely progression into the leather crafting world. Not meant as criticism, possibly a different perspective.
    Thank you

🤣 that totally cracked me up at the end. Don’t lose your pants Chuck!
So true though. So much potential for leather. Unless projects. I recall Chuck talking about a list of possible projects. I would love a video on that. Just in general what categories maybe to get inspired.
Also, I wish I had know these beginner kits when I started. I would have definitely ordered one. I’ll keep it in mind when people ask for sure. Rather a small amount of quality tools than a big kit with useless stuff!

I love this! Thank you so much for this! I have tabs open in another window for each of the kits while I try and determine which kit(s) I want/need. This should help make it easier to decide.

They are actually great starter kits, everything will get used and everything will last. The price is spot on too. Shame I am in the UK and would be done over with the postage. Otherwise I'd pick one up in a heart beat.

Great work! My only criticism is the lack of the edge beveler in the beginner kit! The dye kit is an especially great deal!

    Love these videos!
I was wondering if creasing is done before or after finishing the edges?
    I see some people crease:
    - Before the edges are beveled.
    - After beveling but before sanding/finishing.
    - After beveling and finishing.

Great Video Chuck 😊 those are really awesome kids. I'd love to buy kid no. 1 and some other stuff from weaver.
But the shipping costs to Germany are very high.
Do Weaver has a Distributor in the European union who sells for example the chisels?

    • @WeaverLeatherSupply
      @WeaverLeatherSupply  Рік тому

We have a distributor in Germany and France, Logis De Cordes but they don't carry all of our products. You can contact them and see if they would be willing to do a special order.

Same here. The only real beginner kits available when I got started were the Tandy kits. With the exception of the utility knife handle, poundo board and a couple of stamps, I've replaced pretty much all of it in 10 years.

No slicker or edge stuff though... other than an edge beveler. Was there a reason for the exclusion???

We wanted to keep the kit under a certain dollar amount and since water and canvas can also be used for burnishing we left those out as more of an add-on item. We'll definitely take note of this though and we appreciate the feedback.
