Thanks for taking the time to show this!
My pleasure!
Good job! Excellent video with great communication skills. So nice that you have a dad as a helper as well
Thank you so much! And yes, I am blessed to have him. 😊😇
It looks well waxed! I have a similar hive. I was worried about the edge joined wood that the boxes are made out of but haven't had an issues yet. The nails that came with the one I got were too large in diameter for the frames and caused cracking. I always prefer an aluminum lid over a galvanized as well since the aluminum one will never rust. I ended up painting mine because it started to rust under the brick on top. Good thorough video though Maybee should be proud and send you more to review.
Thank you very much Brian! Always appreciate your kind words and encouragement. This really is a nice hive, well constructed, and a breeze to assemble. I’m hopeful it will last for many years.
There is a frame assembly jig available from Betterbee that lines up 10 or 20 frames to make the assembly of the frames amazingly efficient. It saves me lots of time building frames
I’ve thought about getting a jig but I don’t assemble frames that often. Might be something worth investing in though. Thanks for the tip!
I wonder what effects the wax effects the glue in the joints
Agreed. Time will tell. I’ll keep you posted.
you think that glue will bond with all that wax? Thanks for the video! Starring at my kit right now.
That’s a fair point. So far the glue appears to be holding the joints quite well but the true test will be with time as the hive sits outside and is subjected to the elements. I will keep everyone posted. I hope your kit goes together well! Cheers!
Did they happen to send a price sheet for this set up?
The link is in the description. I believe it retails for around $180.
it looks like cedar to me.
It very well could be cedar based on the color. I wasn’t 100%.
