I like the fact that in #3, the driver is, quite rightly treated with utter contempt, I don't have a lot of time for coppers, but in this case, the attitude is totally justified. Great thing is that it is done in a first person perspective, it really makes you feel like you have actually killed someone.
Good grief number 2 is terrifying, imagine on chirstmas day you have opened your presents, you are sitting at your dining table eating your chirstmas dinner with a glass of lemonade, you have the television on and you are watching your favourite chirstmas film or something nice and the advert break comes on and that PIF comes on without warning.
244chaser I too love that delivery. You just FEEL the cop's righteous anger smoking off the courtesy. It's the passive aggresive version of a great line from Graham Chapman in "Monty Python's Flying Circus" when he sneers "you tit!!!!". I almost hear it after the cop's tea offer
The number 10 scared me once, the version you put up was okay, but they had a slightly shorter version where the crash happens as the music is still playing and is cut out by a crash sound effect, it caught me out of nowhere and I guess that is the preferred version imo.
"But you've had two pints! That's a mandatory subscription to EASportsBig899's channel!" God I remember #2 too well, what a horrible PIF that was! I did not sleep that night I first saw it.
10) I like that it twists the narrative. You think the whole time he's gonna hit and kill that child, but instead he hits another car and kills himself. Nice. 9) Ahahahaha, what? It's so out of left field. Nicely done though, and it does work. 8) This one is a cheap jumpscare, but it works. Also I want a coffin-shaped glass now. 7) Hey, it's Red Asphalt. Effectively shows the consequences of driving drunk. Don't do it, man... 6) This one makes me giggle, it's so dark and demented. Plus, "fooooood through a tuuuuube!" This is a Christmas treasure. 5) This one's also great for the dark humor. THINK! does Christmas ads like these pretty well actually... 4) I like this one because it is just so heartbreaking. It doesn't need gore to get the message across. "He was my best friend." Goddamnit there goes the tears again... 3) What a gut punch. "I regret to inform you that the girl is dead." Jesus. Then "Cuppa tea, sir?" Very British. 2) This one's got the creepy atmosphere down pat. Jesus, it's like a fever dream. Those poor kids... 1) I like this one because it looks like a beer advert, then subverts it. I love it when my expectations are toyed with.
My one quibble is, of course, the no.1 spot. "Kathy Can't Sleep" & "Eyes" from the same campaign are more visceral to me. Of course, I too can't listen to Mungo Jerry the same way either.
Oh god those drink driving ones with the Christmas songs, those songs are ruined forever for me. I can't listen to them comfortably anymore without some sort of PIF flashback to them.
Good collection. I'm really sorry that #2 appeared persistently on your VHS tape & at that part as well! I would have had nightmares for weeks on end! I just always feel that Summertime will always be tagged onto something sinister. I still can't get over the VH1 one "FOOD THROUGH A TUBE!" lol. Overall great job, have a happy christmas easprtsbig899! :)
Eh, I bet they sell those coffin-shaped glasses somewhere in the heart of Ebay or Amazon. I wonder if they're round like a normal glass, or more flat like a canteen.
on a side note, do you remember the one about the Rabid Dog? it's where at the end the dog has someone trapped in a phone box? that scared the shite out of me as a kid
Does anyone know the song that plays at 5:38 ? Or is that just some Royalty-free song you found online? BTW, I loved this video. Watching PIFS is fun, for some unknown reason.
VH1 USED to broadcast good music in the 90's when it was first launched as it had things like Tina Turner, Steps, S Club 7, dire straits, five, westlife, queen and things like that, they even used to boardcast the Beatles and Elvis Presley but now the original presenters retired and it shows things like Eminem and rubbish like that instead of the good things that they used to show, the only place where you can find that is on vintage television or obviously on UA-cam.
I was watch despicable me 2 a few weeks ago, and I recognised that song from the In the Summertime PIF. It just makes me think that the song will forever be tied to sinister scenes. I love how the drinking and driving wrecks lives slogan was twisted around to suit that song. But unlike easportsbig899 whenever the pif comes on, I just sing along, I can't help it. It's probably because I've seen the PIF a few times but the writers asked for their song to be to be twisted when they said in the song "Have a drink, have a drive, have a look what you can find" you find dead bodies you fools!
Personally, I don't care for ads narrated by kids. They tend to mumble and don't enunciate very well. Too hard to understand. Kids with accents are even more difficult to figure out. (I'm American.)

13:52 Gotta hand it to the Brits. No one else could make "Cup of tea, sir?" come across as "You drunken, reckless, murdering piece of shit, you!"

Still consider In The Summertime as one of the greatest adverts ever

where can I find a coffin shaped glass because I would love to use one for Halloween

To easportsbig899 I think when you show the numbers of them you should have "driving in my car" by madness or Drive my car by the Beatles playing.
Oh god those drink driving ones with the Christmas songs, those songs are ruined forever for me. I can't listen to them comfortably anymore without some sort of PIF flashback to them.
Is that one of those vicious "keep left" signs Monty Python warned us about?
probably lol

Simbo Klice never seen a PIF like that before
What was that a PIF for and what was it called? I have not seen that one.
in the summertime when the weather is hot i crashed my car into a stupid phone line... and omg theres a bleeding guy
I think for your next countdown, you should do "Top 10 Australian PSAs"
Thanks for doing my suggestion
PS admit everyone danced to #5
1:35 that bass tho.
Technically 'In the Summertime' is perverted anyway, since it's about picking up women.
Oh I did not know that.
Fooooooood through a tooooooob~!
It's a sad thing when the VH1 comes up with a better PIF than the Crown.
I keep telling you, cars don't drink tonic! Try cider...
Is that a reference to the one from the 70s

It's a piece of music from a show called Robot Wars, but I don't think it has an actual title.
Oh, okay. Thanks!
Oh, btw, I found it! It's "Final Fight Version 1" from the Lost Archive OST album, by Robot Wars Battle Music.

Number seven and number five are basically "Red Asphalt UK".
If you think the tagline "please don't take your car for a drink" is silly Esso's tagline was "put a tiger in your tank"
The DOE should direct horror films on the side their pifs are frightening!!
Yeah! Good point!
Yeah, a horror film with all of DOE's ads combined
05:01 exploding cup from DOE
the PIF that's in an intro of "my top ten"
How's your car doing after the alcohol
I watched despicable me 2 in the cinemas quite a while ago, and that song came on, ruined the rest of the film for me to be honest.

+The Simon K Show same
Thank god I don’t like alcohol
