Yeah I have choras I wouldn’t really describe them as bright rather sweet… they give you a great amount of detail before that fatigue really takes hold. I have my 826s paired with sealed HSU subs love them! Things like rim shots and percussion instruments like cow bells sound super visceral. I’ve had my Choras 2 years now with no problem hopefully your problem was just a one off.

Hey James! You gave us a great review. Sorry you got burned by the Focals. I expected way better than what you experienced. I had Focal in my old Land Cruiser and they were great. I've got a Freya+ in box but am waiting until I get my listening room all cleaned up so I'm really fired up about hearing what you've heard with it!
Funny thing is my custom stereo in my Silverado is a complete custom system and 100% Focal and is AMAZING!!! Dont get me wrong, they are an amazing company at their upper tier stuff!! I will have a set of their towers one day... :) Thank you for watching, its much appreciated!!!
Man, I was really surprised to see they worked out like this. On to the next one, right? In this range of price, may I suggest the Wharfedale Diamond 12.2. I have the litle ones, the 12.0 and they are built like tanks!!!! And sound amazing! To my ears, of course. Based on what you describe your ears like, sounds like we like a similiar sound signature. Thanks again for the GREAT review!!!!

You should try the Goldenear BRX bookshelf monitors, or Elac anything!
I’ve had all the ELAC book shelf speakers. None sound as good as the Chora 806 in my opinion. The golden ear BRX on the other hand may be a contender. 👍👍
Would love to crack one of these puppies up and see what's inside, let's see crossover and cab bracing but it seems they are glued shut.

That is a trim ring around the woofer, it is attached with double sided tape.
Yea, bad design overall. And to only weigh that much with the stand.... DAMN, cant even be a paper weight.

I was wondering how light they could be just as you picked up the speaker and stand together and started waving it around like a Jai alai wicker. Probably something simple as you said, sad they made them unserviceable.

Second video I've seen of the Driver failing on brand new speakers.
It was a sad day. Lol. But the Schiit Freya showed up yesterday so I’m good. Lol.
They weigh 16.2 pounds compared to the B & W 606 that weighs 15.2. And why would a bookshelf at half the price compete with a tower? Also curious what amp you were driving these with? They recommend like 25-120 watts.
We drove them with an Emotiva XPA-2.
How much do those B&W Towers Cost?
You would need to find them used on eBay. They’re a 2007 set of made in England B&W 604 series 3.

I have no clue, but DAMN they weighed almost nothing
UPS (Uniformed Package Smashers) probably dropped them repeatedly. Mine worked and sounded very nice, though not as good as the 3 way 726's. I did like them better than the Asian-made B&W. The difference between the chora and ARIA is $1000, and not much else. The ARIA are a slightly different more neutral mids. NOT worth the extra $$$$. I despise the high end JM labs/focal tioxid and beryllium tweeters and would never buy them. They sound totally unnatural and BRIGHT/HARD vs the aluminum/magnesium in the chora.

Sorry to tell you that!! But FOCAL send u the plastic DEMO ones with the respective stand also made from plastic!!!!! Coz de real ones wheight 17Lbs (each) and the stands 7Lbs (each) and for what i have seen i the vid u grabed that like a kids toy???? Is this a fake review??

...my friend audiophile ... you are wrong in putting Chora speakers made by Focal!
First the carboard the speakers comes with is strong enough to carry the speakers that suppose to carry the size of the speakers.. . The white polystyrene the speakers are in, protect them very well. Those are thick and strong. Try Focal 826D and that carboard are as solid as a coffin..
Second, YOU DEFINITELY done something intentionally wrong when left them to break them in.. you very much did not left them to the correct SPL level.
I am not a fan of Focal but is wrong to present the situation in such weird way you do it..

@@MrFryfish Bro... The speaker broke shortly after break in and audition, FACT. The speaker was much to bright and forward for my preference, FACT. It seemed a poorly built and constructed speaker, FACT. Cheers and have a great day. You are more than welcome to start your own channel and do your own review.. 90% of review-uri from audiophiles recommned others that; if these book-shelf speaker using a subwoofer. You haven't heard about this? So, I still don't think that trying to break-in the speakers at extreme SPL would have succed low enough bass, for your ears.
..And, that is somenthing expected to be known by an experienced audiophiles like you. 😽

Focals are made cheap for the money...... They don't give good value for the dollar.
I found this to be true, at least for the Chora line. I’ve heard their upper tiers are good.

The prices for Focal seem really high for Americans. I believe they are overpriced.
You can get this pair for €349 in France. How much do they cost in the US?

Focal is a shit . Especially the one sold outside of France. They sound very bad and they are expensive.
They used to be JM Lab speakers and in the second hand market in France you can find them very cheap.
I have Focal CMS65. Garbage. Low quality sound and cheap build quality.
I 100% agree with you. This was my first as last Focal product.
