An absolute gem, all three videos. I grew up (and still live) in Boston, and while Fenway is KIND OF a dump, it's a time capsule of baseball. I miss old parks like Old Comiskey. That's a lot for posting, man.
Thanks for this. I'm a Giants fan in CA. When it comes to Chicago teams, I always leaned towards the Sox. I even got behind them in the 2005 World Series.
This was a fabulous tour of the old ballpark. I bet that you never dreamed that your home movie would be available to the entire world as a unique look at the first of the great ballparks, Comiskey`s "Baseball Palace of the World". I took that tour many times in that final year but never took a camera. I am pleased that you had the foresight to film it and thankful that you took the time to share it . Speaking as a lifelong Sox fan and a guy who saw over 500 games there , Thanks again.
I was born in the 90's and grew up with the new Comiskey Park, so I was never able to go to the original. Watching these videos makes me feel like I'm there at the old one. I wish I could have experienced this classic ballpark in my lifetime, but I was born too late. Thank you for posting these videos.
Thank you for sharing. I happened to stumble across this video and I’m glad I did. I was only 7 when they built New Comiskey so most of my Sox memories are there, but I definitely loved old Comiskey. Glad I was able to go to a few games there though. Also, someone else mentioned it, but watching these videos took you back to a simpler time. I’m a “sit down and keep score, watch the entire game and every pitch” type of guy, but that probably stems from what tickets cost. If tickets still cost what they did then I wouldn’t mind just going for a walk around the old ballpark. Simpler times for sure.
I have seen all three of your Comiskey Park videos before. What you did, at the time, was provide a historic capsule of a special baseball place. These videos rekindled many of my own memories of the White Sox, Comiskey Park, and the great times I had with other Sox fans. Thank you very much.
Thanks for posting these videos! I seriously got chills watching the old park again. Don't get me wrong, The Cell is a great park to watch a game in but the old park just had tons of character. GO SOX!!!!
Great series of videos, brings back old memories...I just hit 51 and am a Sox fan/stadium buff/videographer and you did it the way I would have - walk all around the park to get various angles! I have mixed feelings about my Sox stadiums: I enjoyed Old Comiskey (OC) but looked forward to a new stadium - and realize even more now that it was time for OC to go. And although I have never been a hater of "Guaranteed Rate Field", I feel like it was a missed opportunity for Reinsdorf to create something REALLY special - especially considering a more retro design was presented by the designers early on, and a view of the skyline was also on the table but New Comiskey was oriented away from that view to control wind currents on the field...OOOOPS! But its still home to my favorite team!! Your videos gave me a fun look at the old place and thanks again to your (and your wife's, lol) efforts!!
Thanks Jeff, I definitely was wanting to get the “feel” of the OC experience - from walking in, to walking out, and everything in between. Hard to believe, but this is now 30 years old! Cheers!
my one and only time here (my dad is a Cardinals fan from S Illinois) was in 1984. sat just below where you were in the left upper deck. Amazed as a kid how small the green wooden seats were back then, loved the old ballpark nostalgia since my generation grew up around the cookie cutter ballparks from the 70-80s.
Thanks for the props.....you're right, I had no idea there would be an opportunity for Sox fans in places like Guinea to be able access this video! I just knew I wanted to have a record of that place, my first major league game experience. I only wish McCuddy's had still been around!
Do u still go to games often? I'm a beer vendor since 2000.Alot of my Co Worker Vendors are still around that worked at the Old Comiskey. Thanks for video
These Videos are priceless! We used to do the same thing around 7th INN-- "Let's Hit The Catwalk!" My company is working on a major project to re-create Comiskey... I can send more info upon request. Thanks!
Today was Nancy Faust day, in honor of her retirement, at Sox Park. She played "Love is to Wonder" just like she did the day you shot this video. I miss the old park. Seeing all this video is so cool. You did a fantastic job getting great shots of every part of the park. They bombard you with so many ads in the new park it's kind of obnoxious. Anyway you should check out the "Summer of Spud" video on my channel. It's about the 2005 championship season.
That's Carlton Fisk behind the plate for the White Sox. Really cool vid. Think about all the hall of famers that played on that field over the years. I see the park still had some of the original seats. Well that's it for the American League. The only park left in the American league from the early 20th century is Fenway. I'm a Yankee fan, but I hope Fenway remains standing for many more years.
Thanks for this,. I was there that year for opening day and the final game with a few sprinkled in between. I especially loved seeing the walkways, concessions and the different views. It was my favorite place as a kid.
Thank you for these wonderful memories. This was the first and only game my dad could afford to take me to as a kid. I sat in the RF section that you showed in the Second Video. My dad was a big sox fan he passed Sept 7th 2005 he never got to see them win it all. God bless you dad I love you.... Go Go White Sox!
Thanks for sharing this I still remember my first game at Comiskey Park in the 1960's sitting in the right field lower deck. many good memories rekindled
This is so great. I saw my 1st Sox game in 1986 thanks to the "perfect attendence" tickets and from that point I was hooked. I don't know if it was the same game, but MY last game at Comiskey was during this same series vs Boston. I'm still ticked that my dad passed up tickets for the last game against Seattle. Anyway, my dad, grandpa, and I would go to 5 or 6 games a year. This video brought back some great memories from those times. Thanks for posting.
@gptvproductions Thanks for the props. The ballpark experience was so much simpler and enjoyable back then. Now, it's all about driving revenue. Screw that! LOL! I'll be sure and check out your video.
As a lover of old ballparks (was at finales for Comiskey, Tiger & Municipal in Cleveland), I fully understand what you were doing here. And you did a great job of it. Cute wife, too!
Thanks Bud, I practically grew up at that park. Saw two no-hitters (Joel Horlen and Jack Morris), Fred Lynn’s grand slam in the ‘83 all-star game, and the best ballpark atmosphere anywhere. Still married to the wife. Still hot. Cheers!
Great footage. I was 7 when they tore it down but was lucky enough to see it. I just remember green everywhere, the arched windows, and the white facade outside. It's almost like being there. Thanks for sharing!
Wow thank you for letting me use your family's time machine!i hope everyone is still with us .i was able to to the last game against Seattle .i. Was 19 when it closed.my first was around July of 1976
Thanks for the trip down memory lane. The old ballpark was so much more accessable and fan friendly. The new one is nice but I still miss the old place. Thanks again.
remember the concession stand behind the third base dugout that sold corned beef sandwiches for $3.00? Grab one and a beer and walk down the concourse towards the left field foul pole and sit in the picnic area and watch the game. Miss that!!
These vids are so awesome. I'm a Yankee fan and I only remember seeing the old Comiskey on TV now and then when we were on the road and it looked like a really cool place to see a ballgame. Looks even better in all the clips I've seen here. Also, if you don't mind my saying, your wife was pretty cute.:-)
I was born 1992 i never been old comiskey park! I love new COMISKEY Park! I respect history of old comiskey park! I qm 28 year's old die hard WHITESOX fan qnd season ticket holder
Wish there was a 3 part video for all the stadiums that are no longer with us!! I always wanted to see a game there. Now I feel like I kind of did. Awesome video
David Sekowski thanks for the feedback. At the time, I thought the video would be a nice personal keepsake of my Old Comiskey visits, walking the concourses, visiting the picnic area, and the overall feel of going to the ballgame. Thanks to the Internet, the memories live on! I’m glad you enjoyed it! Cheers!
thanks for posting brings back alot of memories I remember going to games in 83 . Tat was a cool place. and the new park was so sterile with everything blue and concrete no character to the place until like '03 when they had the allstar game there. And now the place looks nice with all the renovations and it's awesome to have a '05 WORLD SERIES flag out there too. GOSOX
I've been to 18 major league ballparks...some of which aren't around anymore... old comiskey was my favorite of them all. everything about the place was baseball. i wish they used it as a classic park on video games.
@Kanjilearner That does sound very romantic and all, but truth be known, my wife kind of hates baseball.....She's more of the cocktails and food type! To this day, we go to Cardinal games, and she's looking to cut out around the 5th inning! Of course the way the Cards have been playing lately, I can't really blame her! ;>
@nathandm1917 Thanks for enjoying. At the time, I had no idea I would be able to share this via the internets since Al Gore hadn't invented them yet! :->
Commiskey Park is much better than the one they replaced it with. They shoud have just refurbished the Comiskey . I think Comiskey is better than Wrigley.
that's so cool that you could just walk around the park, sit in different sections...you touch the grass at Yankee Stadium its almost a federal crime now!
I wish i could of gone but i was still a new born wish the park could of bin remodeled i know Comiskey original color wasn't white all never know why the park was painted white wish it would of kept its original color
Comiskey park has to be the worst and screwed up layout I have ever seen no wonder why they demolished that shit hole. Also for it’s time it’s way nastier than wrigley field ever was huge difference. Go cubs!
These videos are a valuable documentation of the old stadium.
Thanks! My earliest and best memories of seeing baseball games were at this park. Still miss it.
An absolute gem, all three videos. I grew up (and still live) in Boston, and while Fenway is KIND OF a dump, it's a time capsule of baseball. I miss old parks like Old Comiskey. That's a lot for posting, man.
Dude, this is a gold mine. That was great thinking to film this stuff.
Thanks for this. I'm a Giants fan in CA. When it comes to Chicago teams, I always leaned towards the Sox. I even got behind them in the 2005 World Series.

Very cool video! Thanks for sharing. Brought back some awesome memories playing in that stadium! What a year we had! Outstanding! #GoSox!

I like how you went all around the staduim, showing its quirks, views, and angles from different seats.
I was there that night with two friends my brother and my father. This brings back so many memories, I really loved it. I was eight years old.
Thanks for the feedback - glad you enjoyed the tour!

Thanks..felt like I was really taking a tour of the place.
Thanks for posting this great video. Makes me homesick for Tiger Stadium.
Absolutely an amazing video!!! Thank you so much for posting it!
I was smiling thru all 3 parts thank you.
I've been to 18 major league ballparks...some of which aren't around anymore... old comiskey was my favorite of them all. everything about the place was baseball. i wish they used it as a classic park on video games.
For half the money it cost to build US Celluar Field, they could have saved this historic place. Like what was done w/ Yankee Stadium in the mid-70's.
Absolutely alonenjersey this ballpark was awesome and should have been saved
@@shellyweiers121 The White Sox home today reminds me of very little of Comiseky Park.
@duke1425 Thanks for checking out the video. So glad I dragged the Sony Handycam to the game that night!
Thanks for checking in. The video was shot 9/13/1990.
Wow, 10 years and 363 days before this country changed permanently for the worst.
Thank you very much for sharing. It brings back great memories. :)
I worked there for 4 years. Threw batting practice for the team. Great memories.
i think i saw the ghost of joe jackson. go to the light joe, go to the light!
say it ain't so joe. so long comiskey. thanks for the memories.
Great vid great memories of the old ball yard, and SOX chicks rule! Thank you!
@Kanjilearner That does sound very romantic and all, but truth be known, my wife kind of hates baseball.....She's more of the cocktails and food type! 1:43 Isn't that the center field booth Harry Caray used to announce from back in the 70s?
Also never realized the amount of blue inside the old park .so that color scheme carried over to the new one
Always enjoyed watching the Yankees play the white Sox ...Peters Pizzaro Horlen and John Buzhardt....Yanks could never beat him
@thebig1 Thanks for your feedback. I look forward to seeing your Astrodome footage. Never had a chance to see a game there...
@OceanPoet Thanks for your feedback - thats what I was going for....all those precious sightlines in what was a wonderful ballyard!
Fantastic stuff, thanks
You can almost smell the beer & piss. Love it!
Great shot of Nancy man!
Sout side! EP checking in
She was actually playing "take me out to the ball game" there, but you knew that.
Great job with the video.
hope you all had fun
@nathandm1917 Thanks for enjoying. At the time, I had no idea I would be able to share this via the internets since Al Gore hadn't invented them yet! :->
Thanks for the props....The wife is burning her David Wright jersey as we speak..!
Loved this..thanks! I went to lots of Sox games in the late 70s and early 80s....couldn't keep me away from it...what year was this taken, 1984?
1990. The new ballpark can be seen in some shots in the video.
You did a great job, and you have a very cool wife to just walk around with you and let you enjoy your thing lol
2:30 She didn't say peanuts LOL
Commiskey Park is much better than the one they replaced it with. They shoud have just refurbished the Comiskey . I think Comiskey is better than Wrigley.
I take it the White Sox were just one of the things that brought you and your wife together.
that's so cool that you could just walk around the park, sit in different sections...you touch the grass at Yankee Stadium its almost a federal crime now!
I wish i could of gone but i was still a new born wish the park could of bin remodeled i know Comiskey original color wasn't white all never know why the park was painted white wish it would of kept its original color
It was bin remodeled, they tore it down and put the pieces in a bin! And they painted it because paint is cheaper than tuck pointing.
They should of keep the old ballp ark.. DISCO SUCKS!!!
Comiskey park has to be the worst and screwed up layout I have ever seen no wonder why they demolished that shit hole. Also for it’s time it’s way nastier than wrigley field ever was huge difference. Go cubs!
