Got a new 352 in December of 1974. 3406TA, 12/5 13speed with 4:33 geared rears on 10:00-22 inch rubber. Loved it, my first new truck bought from OKC Peterbilt.
The main reason, as I recall, for changing out those original type shift knobs was the noise! Those things had check balls in them that were plastic I believe and after a bit of wear they would rattle constantly, a kind of buzzing sound that would drive you nuts!
Good lookin ride. I had a 77 with the NTA420, 13, with 4:11’s and 24.5 high profiles. Right from the factory it would rev to 2500, which tickled the underside of 95 mph. Loved it.
You're the "Lucky Dawg" getting to drive your "Big Dawg", Dane. Love how you've kept the Her mostly original. Many years ago I drove a 1968 Pete COE, Model 351 hauling produce out of California to the mid-west. The then almost new rig had a 318 Detroit with 4x4 trannies. It was a great truck as long as you were on flat ground. My first cross-country experience at the tender age of 23. Wonderful memories of the Pete COE so similar to your gorgeous machine. Looking forward to your future videos. :) PS: The first commercial truck I drove was a 1958 Pete COE, Model 281 (no tilt), with an NH 220 Cummins (175 HP), in front of a 5 speed main box with a 2 speed air shift rear end, and wedge brakes. This was a dual drive (3-axle) tractor with rubber belts that powered the rear (tag) axle. No air seat, no power steering, no Jakes, etc.. The air conditioning was "roll down the windows and go 55 mph". Old school days. :)
Hey Dane Scott I like you're 1974 352 Peterbilt Cabover I notice it you had the Truck on Facebook and, you were asking $10,000 for it plus the ad said it was, automatic I was, two years old in 1974 that, piticular 352 Peterbilt Cabover had a, 400 cummins Deisel with a,13spd transmission don't get rid of you're 352 Peterbilt Cabover love you're Trucker's Lounge videos Keep it up Dane Scott
I know this video is 3 years old. I truly hope you still have her.. You said Okie guy?? Long story I will not go into now but from 1980 to 1984, I was born in 74 and my dad worked for an equipment company called Northridge equipment rentals in Southern California. My best memories were when he would take me with him to deliver equipment. He drove a 1977 or 78 emerald green cabover Pete.. It was the absolute highlight of my childhood. I do not know the model or the year exactly. Had that classic paint scheme... You said Okie and I moved to Oklahoma in 1994. Before my dad passed away 4 years ago, His truck was something we would always talk about.. I know this is weird in this day and age but if you are still in Oklahoma and still have the truck, is there any way I could come and see it!.. I understand our world is different now but my best memories are in that truck with my father that was a hard working man.. I experienced so much in that cabover Pete. Regardless, thank you so much for purchasing, keeping, and giving that truck a home.. Eternal respect for saving her and keeping her. Best wishes to you no matter what.. Thank you for the video. It brought so much back to me and who my father was to me.. Be safe my friend.
Thank you Robert for watching. THATS the reason I do the channel. The connection we have to these pieces of American vintage iron and HOW we got connected in the first place. Unfortunately I sold the 352 three years ago as I was ready after 7 years for the next piece of history and have had many more.
Nice truck I’ve got a 362 peterbelt cabover with a 3406b in it and I’ve been working on it from time to time. So keep on trucking and let’s fix am better see ya on the next one have a great day see ya by .
I had owned a '79 Freightliner c.o.e. with my best friend many moons ago. We bought the truck around '81 or '82. The big cam 290 was rebuilt by my friend and his brother who were both certified diesel mechanics before going on the road.It was turned up just a little bit and ran fine. From your other vid on the trucking co., I forgot to mention the I-H conventional cabover CONCO looked strange w/ the cab offset to the driver's side like the old Hayes & Pacific logging trucks. This was because the engines took up the passenger space. If I remember correct- ly, the short nose lifted up, and the cab tilted forward like a c.o.e. for servicing.
I absolutely love this truck. Reminds me of one I grew up driving on my uncles farm in the 90s. He had the old Pete out back and I wanted to drive her more than any of the new rigs. lol.... Does yours have the air powered wipers ?
Hey Dane Scott what's, up how are, you doing? this Trucker's lingo put that, hammer on the ground and, keep that, hammer 🔨on down I'm Texas bound and a,Flyin 10-4 from Jason,L from RimRock Az.
My sleeper is almost the same as yours, I have a 4 inch mattress that’s not confortable and is too narrow, can’t seem to find a mattress that fits the space. I think I’m mine the width is about 33.5 to almost 43 inches by with six long. No one seems to have that size mattress aroyhere

Finally an old truck where the owner is keeping the old 13 speed shifter knob. Dad owned one just like it with a 350 cummins. Love the old cabin overs
Keeping the spirit of the original is key with me. 😬
I drove several 352's and 362''s. Owned a big window. I didn't care for COE's because of the ride but Pete was the best.
One of the sickest Peterbilt C.O.E.’s I have ever seen!! Excellent job brother! Heal that bicep.
Thank you! Much appreciated. It’s coming along ... and thank you for watching 😬
There are some really good looking custom rigs on the road.. but none can touch the class and beauty of this original looking Pete.
I agree, love the ole school rigs! Thank you, and thanks for watching!
Badass rig loving it. Man that cummins jake brake great sound.
I know right? When I was looking to buy it I heard that and said, "SOLD!" lol
Cool cab over

Is that the air conditioning system on top the roof or where is the a/c?
Yes it was popular to have the condenser mounted there at the time.
Sharp 352! I have one like it with its original 1693
Nice! Love the sound of a kitty Kat 😬👍
This is what got you started. LOL 😆
As a kid seeing these very cabovers sitting under the arched sign along the interstate in charlotte NC yes!😬👍

Ok, sorry took so long. Here's the measurements: 79 x 33' with rounded corners (fits perfect). Seems to be 6" deep. Hope that helps.
@@caboverkaylee1374 look up Original Mattress Factory on the web see if they can help.
