I like the way both of you are not afraid to try Malaysian dishes at the very humble local roadside restaurants. I think very few Japanese expats will do that even if they stay in Malaysia for many years.
I just had to say how much I appreciate your wonderful videos! Your warmth and humility really shine through, and it’s a joy to see. Kudos to you and your family for being such genuinely pleasant people!
The most well-known Tempoyak dish is *Tempoyak Ikan Patin* , from the state of Pahang. Negeri Sembilan (N9) is not known for tempoyak, instead they are known for *Masak Lemak Cili Api* , a turmeric-based gravy dish with high level of spiciness. Another state that has tempoyak dish is Perak, though not as well-known. Perak previously was famous for its durian orchard & produce, maybe more than 30 years ago. But around early 2000s, Musang King from Pahang started to make its name.

The culture of treating perfect stranger is a unique one. What that abang did, after paying the bill he continued walking out of the restaurant ( only later decided to chat and took photo). It shows many Malaysians are self less bunch.
Ichin-kun sleeping from starting until video end. Haha. Btw, I also love Patin Tempoyak. After this you can try Pais Patin Tempoyak. It's really delicious.
i m of those who dont like tempoyak..but i like durian…fyi now is durian season but the durian is from Kuala Kurau , Perak..many selling them in Penang and Kedah..it is nice variety too.
Oooooh fuyooooooo..patin masak lemak tempoyak is the best. By the way, it's tempoyak gravy, not curry as it doesn't use curry powder. Syabas you guys tried it.
10:32 actually that is a cultural custom or common thing in a country called Malaysia. This matter has been around for ages and there are still individuals who maintain it to this day to whomever they want whether it is a tourist or a local, what is important is sincerity. There are also people who do not know who paid for them because when they want to pay at the counter, the casher informs them that they have already been paid. 😊

Tempoyak isn’t signature dish for Negeri Sembilan. The correct is Perak & Pahang which is the most durian harvest in Malaysia. While Negeri Sembilan signature dish is masak lemak cili padi (spicy yellow curry in coconut milk) & itik salai (smoked duck)
I didn't know if i suit tempoyak taste or not cause i haven't try even i was Malaysian, cause the tempoyak not from my state, so it's only certain shop in my town would sell tempoyak, i curious with the taste

It's not the actual catfish..we called keli if it is catfish but the one you eat is patin. It's not the same. Patin is much larger than keli and it's only catch from the river.
Tempoyak is the special dish from Pahang , Perak and Negeri Sembilan. However ,tempoyak dish from Negeri and Pahang has more chilli , whereabout Perak version is more less /no chilli😊
