- In the early 80s, buying or even thinking of getting a car was very far from reality but this was made possible by Maruti in the Indian automobile industry as they made some absolute beauty's with an affordable price tag. One of their best seller was the Maruti Suzuki 800, the 800 was the most iconic and the best-seller for 3 decades and it was indeed a very promising name.
Almost everyone would have either driven this car or rather would have atleast sat on one of those. The car is still a pure joy to drive & driving one after a very long time really made me nostalgic. Its compact size, great reliability & low maintenance is still unmatchable.
The car right here is 13 years old which has been driven for almost 35,000 kms. In this video I will be sharing with you the ownership experience of this car; alongwith it I will be putting forth three strong reasons for choosing a used Maruti 800 right now. These reasons are especially for those who have not purchased a car yet & are planning to get a brand new 2- wheeler (either a moped or a bike). Sounds Interesting? My grandmother passed me her 2007 Maruthi 800 AC which I still use today. Let me tell you that this car is heaven when it comes to keeping one. The car by itself never has any issues, and even if they do, it's fixed with the most affordable options. I recently bought the headlight for just 100 bucks. The engine gives out 27km/lt for me and I don't think any car can beat its quick response when I press the throttle and fly down the road. Safety-wise, it's got no rating, but man this car is something else when it comes to handling. No luxury but pure to its legacy, nothing can beat a Maruthi 800 for many years to come. It's a legend that needs no recognition.
I am planning to purchase second hand 1990 model. Will it worth for buying. I have found 1990 model at olx which had completed 54000km. Please suggest me
I suggest don’t do it. If the car is beyond 2008 then okay, because he parts and everything associated will be very hard to find. Unless your going to keep it as a vintage car then fine, but if your looking at daily use, better find a more recent model.
My Dream Car Maruti 800
I have 1996 delux maruti 800. Its a superb car.
Proud owner of a maruti 800 2012 silky silver till now and having a great experience indeed. Engine response is very good and steering is performing pretty well. Initially the steering is tight but while moving the car, it is getting a light one. Braking is okay and the ac is pretty good. A very nice and pocket friendly car maruti 800. Too reliable indeed. Steering is very good in Maruti 800 bro come on ! It’s manual steering feedback is amazing . Maruti 800 is go to car for any new learner’s no doubt because of its size !
My maruthi gives 24 kmpl its a 2003 ac model clocked 1.5 lac kms. Maintainance is lower than a bike. If u just check the coolant and do oil change maruthi will never demand u anything. I have travelled in this to UP, MP, MH, TELANGANA, ANDHRA, ODDISA, ASSAM WEST BENGAL, KARNATAKA, TAMIL NADU, KERELA. No nonsense car only thing is that its a feature less car but never felt so. It does justice to the every rupee u invested. I wonder when people walk across and ask if i am planning to sell it, such a demand few have already put kerchief on it ask me to intimate them if i plan to sell. 😅. Till date i never thought of changing this car.

Why are you denouncing with its harder clutch, brakes and gear? It has no power steering and power brakes that's it. In those days power switch was not in use because human muscles were active and live not dead like today's.
Hi Shree Ram, I am not criticizing as to how bad the things are in the car but I just wanted to convey the prospective buyers to have a clearer picture as to what they can expect from a used 800. Moreover, I have even mentioned in the video, that things get sorted out after using it for some time.
