Thumb position is the easiest on the center harmonic of the strings so you can play some simple songs up an Octave.

Glad I came back to this vid as I'm starting to prep for thumb position now - read elsewhere to press closer to the nail and dang, ouch! Happy to take this approach instead xD

May I ask why do you curl your little finger of the bow hand?

Do you always have to be touching or firmly depressing the thumb to the fingerboard when not on a harmonic? Towards the bridge it gets harder to depress the thumb due to the height of the string off the fingerboard - and I'm wondering if it's okay to just have it slightly depressed. Please advise! Thanks
