    Don't be afraid to change the pattern up either. The same idea works great for most of the larger mayflies- isonychia, green and brown drakes, march browns, etc.

    Tim I really appreciate this pattern and it has become my go to for almost all mayfly presentations. I have modified it to add a "wally wing" set of wings and a little CDC around the thorax to suggest legs. Last week I did an up sized and color appropriate version on a #8 hook to fish on the Hex hatch on the AuSable river in my home state of Michigan with very good success. This is such a great fly , its like a secret weapon!

    Excellent looking fly and the extended body made from a feather is much lighter in weight than foam.

    I love your vids. I'm new to tying and of all the videos on youtube these are definately the most descriptive and easy to understand. (no accent ha) If i could give any criticism it would be to add a material list to the video description. Thanks again!

    I’ve got a bunch of mallard feathers so I’m going to see about making a half dozen of these guys. Maybe with a Wally wing instead since it’s more of a mayfly wing shape. Like a spent oke

    Would calf tail fibers work as well as the rabbit's foot for the wing? If not, what other materials could be used?

    Is this supposed to resemble a may fly nymph?

    • @tightlinevideo
      @tightlinevideo  9 років тому +3

      It is supposed to resemble an adult mayfly or dun which rides in the surface film of the water.
