I love your word(s) for the year. I have been working on shedding activities and people that are more of an energy drain than a joy. Next step is to say no to things that I know in my heart are not a fit. Time to put yourself and your joy first!

I just came across you. Great video and great projects. I too, am a teacher. I love quilting but have been busy. I have a quilt almost do e on the table but now i have to get my machine serviced before i get back to it. I am similar to saying "yes" to everything and everyone. Great goal- say "no thank you".

When I was a younger woman, I served as some kind of officer/contributor for everything that each of my 4 kids’ activities. My oldest is 18 years older than my youngest twins, so that was for a lot of years. I retired from teaching 5 years ago, to care for my parents who live three
hours from my town. So there has been a lot of saying yeses to others and leaving little left for myselfI have been forced to take the last 3 months off and will need another 3 months to recover from illnesses that I have ignored by saying yes to everyone else. Please take time for yourself. Don’t be guilty or embarrassed. You will want both
energy and that sweet smile of yours to love and encourage and enjoy your family for years to come.

Wow, that’s a lot of WIPS but I’m so impressed that you had 40 finishes and TEN quilts??? Had to laugh when you mentioned Hampton Beach, I spent most of my HS and college summers there. Wishing you a very happy and healthy new year, self care is a necessity not an indulgence… you take care of you!

Saying “no” is the exact same thing as self-care!! Do NOT feel shame for saying that! And as for the judgmental people in your life, it’s YOUR life and crafting whether it be stitching or quilting or whatever brings your heart joy, is ALSO self-care! No shame here!!! Love seeing your parade!!
