My friend Ray and I used to visit Stan in the mid sixties in Chorlton, when he was relatively unknown. A great guitarist who taught Ray on the guitar. I was so in awe. We used to go to the folk nights at the Wheatsheaf in Manchester if anyone remembers that club. It was so much fun!
I remember. I loved the Wheatsheaf and I thought Stan was amazing. I'd never heard anything like his guitar playing but knew there was something very special!
thanks for posting that! I used to love hearing Stan play in folk clubs around Salford and Manchesr in the '60s, he's still living in Manchester but as far as I know doesn't perform live anymore, 'though he's still making music.
Shared flats with Black Stan Table 68/69 thereabouts. Brilliant to hear him practice everyday/night and hear songs being born. I learnt lots off him, stole his style a bit too. Great days. great bloke. Hope he`s still going strong. Nice one Stan.
Hi Neil, are you by any chance the Neil mentioned in Stan's song Jules' Birthday? "I never went there at all... I just knew it from Neils paintings on the wall"
Black Stan Table. Its a long long time since I heard that name. Lovely to hear his voice again, and his guitar playing. I used to sing with Stan round about 68/69. I hope hes doing ok.
This all takes me back to Alexandra Park/Road, Demesne Road ....... what ever happened to Robyn Dalrymple. And, not forgetting God Bless the unemployed which stuck with me in my mind to this day .........
I have not heard from Stan for 40 years! I have searched the web for him for old times sake but as you have found he does not seem to use social media. There was a thread on Mudcat.org to which Stan replied giving his email but that was over 10 years ago.

Hi Brendan, I don't suppose you have heard anything from Stan recently? I have tried to find him on social media but no luck
