- Is Type 45 Daring-class Better Than Arleigh Burke-class Destroyer?
The US Navy was the first in the world to develop a comprehensive ship-based air defense system, AEGIS, which included powerful electronically scanning radar panels fitted to destroyers and cruisers as well as a series of medium to long-range Surface to Air missiles (SAM). This was primarily intended to protect US carriers from missile attacks. Later, European nations adopted this concept and introduced their own air defense destroyers with comparable capabilities.
The Arleigh Burke class is the most famous American destroyer in this category, and the British Type-45 Daring class is the most famous European counterpart. Both the American and British navies claim to have the world's most powerful air defense ships. - Наука та технологія
Having seen the tech and its integration in the T45s first-hand I've no doubt they're a formidable air defence platform. What they lack, as far as I can tell, is offensive capability. The Royal Navy seems to have morphed into a defensive force rather than one that can take a fight to an opponent. It seems to rely upon its QE aircraft carriers (of which only 1 will be deployed/deployable at any one time) for attack, which relies upon its air wing. This doesn't give the Royal Navy much in the way of teeth.
Hard to say which one edges the other. America is notorious for covering up true capability until it’s used in combat. Either way they’re both on the same side.
As well as extra Sea Ceptor missiles (x24) the T45 will have x48 Aster 30 block 1. The Block 1 can intercept ballistic missiles.. there will be an upgrade to Aster 30 block 2 in due course. The Sampson radar will get an ABM upgrade and the Sea Viper C2 system will be upgraded. T45s will also have MSN anti-ship missiles. There is also a possibility that they will get DEWs. The placement of the SAMPSON AESA radar 36M above the sea means that the T45 Sees sea skimming threats before the USN ship. It also has two long range search radars on different bands to search with. Like the US ship it has a fully integrated suit of weapons and sensors.
And when are these upgrades going to be completed, not sure if all six have had the pip upgrades completed yet..😮😢

@@EnglishScripter you sure they all went up to Cammell in Liverpool..14 dock has been improved but as of January only 3 out of the six are available don’t think all have or even three had the propulsion upgrades yet..hopefully done asap and mistake never made again although I’m sure 26 be same but hey money for someone…👍🤭😂😂😂😂
Type 45 has a better radar set up, but lacks the missiles, luckily the Navy are going ahead with increasing capacity to 72 VLS and all Frigates and T45’s will get the new NSM anti ship missiles (some frigates already have them) so they’re finally getting some upgrades. Should have 72 from the get go really.
72 VLS makes them very capable ships indeed.
Both are badass but would like to see the T45 hit multiple targets simultaneously as stated

Well, I had the same view as you, and to me, the Arleigh Burke looked old-fashioned and the Type 45 looked sleek modern, and designed to be stealthy. Our new destroyer the Zumwalt has taken this to the next step and does look as if it comes from your conehead planet lol but it's definitely the best of the 3. I think the Type 45 is a great destroyer and I'm glad the Brits are on our side!
It looks 'modern', streamlined and of course built to have a very small radar signature to give it stealth capability. I was quite surprised by how outdated our destroyers looked in comparison and to make a joke out of our inadequacies by calling the Type 45 'conehead' is just dumb especially when you consider the Zumqualt destroyer outdoes the Type 45 in that department lol. Well done the Brits it looks great and with the 2 new aircraft carriers and the new frigates coming, things for once are looking good for you and that is good for us. We're brothers after all.
lol I just realised I'd left a similar message to this 10 months ago I'd completely forgotten. What it shows is that my views are obviously my own and they don't change much and I have a terrible memory.
If you want an extended radar horizon provided by the 35-metre high Sampson MFR and 48 sea skimming missiles intercepted at 4.5 mach, then get the type 45 ....for absolutely everything else the Arleigh Burke wins hands down.
Some of the ABs shown are older variants, and the type 45 is getting a much needed boost in fire power, but generally speaking, the AB is the stronger, more versatile ship... at present.
The biggest difference? The US Navy can put more than one destroyer to sea at any given time or place.

I thought the opposite are you sure you knew which one you were looking at? The Arleigh Burke class looked old and clunky. Apparently, they were commissioned in 1991 while the UK's Type 45 were built between 2003 and 2012 which might explain it. Also, I looked into the two navies the UK has a Type 23 frigate which compliments their destroyers. We don't seem to have any frigates at all. The Russians had a run-in with one of the type 45s close to the Crimea and backed off after being warned that it could simultaneously take down every Russian plane circling it - now that's badass.

@@chrisparnham Arleigh Burke is completely superior to the Type 45 in every way, especially Flight 3. I think we all agree on this, what the hell did the British design the Type 45 for? Is it a reception place for Muslim immigrants? Is there any 8500 ton ship in the world for more than 1 billion pounds without torpedoes, long-range / short-range quadpack air defense missiles, anti-ship missiles (will be replaced by short-range NSMs, but still inferior too much far from LRASM or YJ-18), anti-submarine missiles, land attack cruise missiles, can only carry 1 light/medium anti-submarine helicopter. It should be used as a receiving vessel for Muslim immigrants rather than a warship. Even a 4,000-ton Chinese or 2,000-ton Russian warship is equipped with heavier equipment than this.

Agree,... except..when it comes to land attack, anti ship, anti submarine, ( no ship borne torpedo weapon system ), anti ballistic and the sheer number of missiles carried ( 96 vs 48 ). Lol.
The 45 is a fine ship, but its a typical RN warship thats been neutered by bean counters back in Whitehall. They are too few in number and under armed. I served on a batch 2 type 22 frigate HMS Brave in the late 80s, and the weapons fit was suicidal. Oh, and when it comes to sailors, I did 25 years Royal Navy and 18 in the Royal Fleet Auxiliary and believe me, we've got our fair share of crap.

I don't know who told you. The type 45 had the best radar in the world. Cause if you did, I'm pretty sure the Americans would be using them.
Burke looks like a warship and is heavily armed, the type 45 does not carry much in the way of weapons, smaller load out of missiles, and looks weird

Arleigh Burke is very dated looking. Has more in common with a fishing trawler design wise.
