As someone who’s seen both ends of the economic spectrum, I can say with certainty that the difference in aesthetics is ON POINT - the sleek, shiny, minimalism of the “classy” rich as opposed to the loud, gaudy, overly blinged-out style of what the poor THINK looks like rich, or at least fitting the aesthetic of the nouveau riche… It’s honestly perfect. These filmmakers knew what they were doing!
This movie had the most creative robot designs & world building for a robot movie its an underrated timeless masterpiece im glad more & more people are noticing it
I like how in this movie, it draws a direct parallel to the "Right to Repair" bills people have been fighting for these last decades. And its also a cool film
It’s crazy they were able to make such a high quality animation back then most other animation even ones from Disney didn’t look this good. I do feel very old now though. Crazy this was 2005
Another reason for me to love this movie. The fact the movie is made of robots and metal is the reason for that. Back then those kinds of surfaces were way easier to make, for reflections, lighting, and realistic details. Perfect example is Ice Age 1 from around the same time. The animal fur and human models look really outdated, while Robots looks timeless.
Robots is one of those underrated gems, and it's such a childhood classic. I remember watching it many times before and it does hold a special place in my heart. Also, the scene at the Bigweld Ball is one of my favorite scenes :D
I don't remember a single thing about this movie except for that I used to think the red robot was hilarious as a kid. And now watching this back, I still think of his as hilarious
The first time I saw this movie was as a kid on a bootleg dvd I got from some random dude down the street. It was out of sync and, of course, extremely blurry, but I remember really enjoying it. I enjoyed so much in fact that I also remember having and absolutely loving the hell out of a Rodney doll my mom bought me from Target. Its so weird to see it again in good quality, and I'm equally glad it still holds up.

Two things i don't like about this scene is 1: Why are only Rodney and Fender infiltrating the ball? Why can't Piper, Crank, Lug and Diesel come too? 2: all of the background characters are just reused and cloned.
