Gloriosa's villain song in this movie is so freaking good. agreed thats its definitely the best from these movies. also, the wordplay in it, since it is sort of both "we will stand for Everfree" AND "we will stand, forever free"
I personally did not like how Twilights fears of Midnight Sparkle were justified in the end with her almost being overtaken again. I feel like the arc was leading more towards a PTSD storyline where she was only imagining MS taking over, with her overcoming her fear not by overpowering MS, but by letting go of her past and forgiving herself for what happened, which I feel would have had a stronger impact
Yeah, I was so sure Twilight was paranoid for no reason and I got really annoyed when I saw a "Midnight Sparkle Glow" on her forehead when using the magic. Either focus more on Midnight Sparkle still being a part of her or show that Twilight's fears were wrong. Instead it felt like Twilight's fears were confirmed without making any sense imo.
Well, the thing is that if we look at the running time of the movie, it could have been longer so that the plot had better time to develop, and the idea wasn't so bad that it focused on Twilight, since she just joined to the group, plus Sunset is there for her now to guide her, after what happened in the 3rd movie. Although also it looks like all that shocked her a little more, since it was the first time she experienced magic (something unfamiliar to her). Well, besides when I saw this movie, I wondered how they would get along with Twilight in the group.
yes!!! especially because she at least had some level of morbid curiosity/ willingness to ‘unleash the magic’ in friendship games, but this time around theres no stakes or peer pressure to push her towards evil. so it doesn’t make sense that the simple action of using magic would make her evil
Idk it seems perfectly consistent with how equestrian magic works so I can't really fault it. Kinda like Luna with the tantabis or however that shit is spelled.
11-year-old me loved this movie because of its aesthetic and the fact that it was their first egg movie as part of the fandom (the movie they got to wait for its release, watch the trailers, and follow the news. You get what I mean). Now, I love it because of nostalgia. After re-watching the franchise, I have to agree with plotwise that it's the weakest. But it still has a special place in my heart, and I will cherish it with all its flaws.
I remember being pretty confused with the first one I saw being Friendship Games but I fortunately watched them all in order a few months afterwards and understood what was going on.
So glad to see more people talking about Equestria girls, I watched all the movies when I was younger but I don’t remember them, maybe just a few key details, so I rewatched all the movies a few days ago and ended up watching every single official piece of media equestria girls had to offer because I genuinely could not get enough of it, I was so sad when I finished it and all the videos of people talking about it online were either 2 years ago or negative, but as the die hard equestria girls fan that I am I did not like legend of ever free that much
8:59 Jekyll & Hyde the Musical mentioned?? Anyway, I agree with all your points I'm pretty sure most of the fandom agrees that this is the weakest one. I too wouldn't say it was too bad but it just wasn't anything great either. I actually like your suggestions in the end. If they went all in with Twilight's inner struggles and if Midnight Sparkle was an actual threat it would probably be better than what we got. Gloriosa as a villain was kinda wasted. No scratch that i don't think she could've worked that well anyway since her motivation while reasonable has many holes that just can't go unnoticed
@@TheWildCardhonestly mine too. I realistically know it's not the best when it comes to its storytelling but the songs are amazing and the vocal preformances in the concept album are absolutely peak
I like this movie, but it always felt like an unnecessary epilogue movie. A good one, but unnecessary. The songs were great, but nowhere near the same level as Friendship Games and Rainbow Rocks, and while Gloriosa is a good villain, she can't help but feel repetitive since we just got a "brainwashed by too much power" villain in Midnight Sparkle. Plus, her design in the campfire story was way better, let's be honest.
@@TheWildCardAnd they never really got off the ground. They're decent, but they were a clear attempt by the writers for the show to become it's own thing, but it never escaped its parent's shows shadow.
Your Equestria Girls vids are awesome! You are very enjoyable to listen to and these videos have made me want to seek out these movies to watch them all! I saw the first one a long time ago but never saw the rest! I believe I can find Rainbow Rocks here on UA-cam! 😁
You should consider doing a few of the specials. Forgotten Friendship and Sunset's Backstage Pass are every bit as good as Rainbow Rocks and Friendship Games.
Song was good though. I do wish they did a sort of finale movie that resulted in the dimensions fusing for a bit. Essentially the walls between the two break down, and even discord can't fix it immediately. Later ending with the Mean 3 getting free, but trapped in the human world in non magical forms. "YES we are free!!! Wait where's our magic?!"

I never thought of it that way. Cool!

I agree, that also would’ve been a great way to resolve the plot point of Midnight Sparkle.

Yeah, I actually liked the first one quite a bit (Seems that nobody agrees with that) but I just was not a fan of this movie.

Jekyll & Hyde is one of my favorite musicals.

ngl i thought that gloriosa and timber were adults, at least like 18 or 19 so i thought the romance between him and twilight was weird lol
Isn't Gloriosa an adult? I thought I saw somewhere she is (around 21). Timber is a teen tho.

To me it feels like it only exist to set up the specials and shorts.

Midnight in me reminds me of the other mlp song called lunas future in that one hearth warming eve in season 6 or 7

"YES we are free!!! Wait where's our magic?!"
Twilight fails to say rock quarry too
in the bloopers😋😊😆
14:31 Just like the blooper with Twilight also Tara try to say it
Is timber supposed to be one of the timber wolves?
That would be funny
The fandom dropped the ball by not using the Pinkie and Sunset blooper scene as a meme format.
So true
Hey do you know that My Little Pony release the instrumental albums for Friendship is magic and Equestria girls!?
I did, I also heard they used AI to remove the vocals on some songs apparently?
do you still plan to do silent ponyville even if its not as close to silent hill 2 remakes release?
I am still planning to cover it yes. No idea when though
@ schedules and deadlines for videos are hard i comepletely understand, will be excited to see it whenever it is done though!
14:31 you sound like blooper Twilight
You're the only one who caught that joke so far.
You're my fav person
Thank you
It is pretty boring for some reason part 4
Let's get real here: *Every* EqG movie and special is disappointing.
Cap, Friendship Games is peak.
Rainbow Rock will always have a special place in my heart sorry
