Interesting to note the novel use of a Solar Panel array on one of the 'wings'. Perhaps to power the 'Aid to Navigation' light on top of the white mast. Have you ever noticed this light on at night, It should be a solid white light ( not flashing)? Great video, thanks for sharing it with us.
Can remember walking along the pier all the way to the end. Can just vaguely remember amusements like slot machines. If ever there was a case for lottery funding its rebuild the pier.
I allways would just sit in the caffie window and look at this structure for hours and my mother actly got mad once bc i kept staring at it she then told me what is was and why it was crumbling i asked if they could fix it. Aþ the time the building was better than it was but now it looks like its beyond saving
It's incredible the sense of memory and history the structure holds to so many people. You never know wether it will be repaired or replaced in the future, all we can do is immortalise today's view for those to come.
Absolutely love this. Brilliant work 👏
Thanks very much!
My mother lived in Herne Bay for many years, then moved to Spain and now back at Birchington.
Herne bay truly is beautiful!

The pier is a great asset to the town and this forlorn remnant is sad to see.

It is a real shame that the canterbury council decided that it was to expensive to repair it in
the 70's.
It would have been well worth the expense.
