At 39:00 when trading with roland he had a steel pickaxe.
You didn't acknowledge he had it.

Granted over 1500 gold I don't think you had enough.

I don't know what the cruel trait does specifically but if you take them over won't your control override his cruel trait?
Especially if you run around gifting everyone items or something.
Frustrating! I won the fishing competition but wasn't able to turn in my tokens. I thought maybe I was doing something wrong but apparently my game was just being buggy
