  • Tajima Tools make some of the best hand tools, from their caulk guns to their layout tools and even to the humble yet crazy sharp utility blades they produce. I haven't tried all of their tools yet (something I dream of doing) but the tools I have tried have won my heart and hard earned dollars. Precise, durable and innovative seem to be at the heart of Tajima!

    I was just looking at my collection of caulking guns. The convoy lite is actually my first or maybe second dripless gun I have tried and it is the reason why I went out and bought a bunch of other caulking guns that make a similar claim, but with a higher ratio this time. I have a bunch of Dripless brand and they work….only if the tube does not have any air bubbles. newborn has a few good ones too, but they also experience similar issues like the Dripless where it drips about 1 in. Then I came across the Ox drip free gun….P045910…and this thing works flawlessly. 12:1 ratio perfect for finish caulking, but expensive as hell. It costs at least 5 dollars more than the Tajima convoy super that has a similar ratio. The best part about this gun is the ability to turn drip on and off. Highly recommended.

      Thanks, someone else suggested the Ox guns. I will definitely be checking them out. Sounds like they have a good product. 👍🏻 Thanks for watching and commenting.

      Great tools. The Convoy lite really is nice and lightweight. I personally like the ergonomics of the others a bit more, but the Convoy lite is no slouch. 👍🏻

      Your welcome! Because of the quality of the gun, I think with some sealants it won't drip. But it isn't technically a non-drip gun. In my mind it is more designed around more viscous materials like construction adhesives, where you are less concerned about small drips. 👍🏻 Thanks for watching.

    Sometimes it’s not the tool, but rather the inconsistency of the caulk material

    There is definitely a huge difference in many areas...
    The feel
    The looks
    Features
    Operation
    Are a few of the differences between a lower cost such as cheap Walmart stocked gun verses paint store and professional tool company.
    I had a good one a customer kept it.
    I bought a hardware store dripless around 10 it leaked.
    Tried s other hardware store both carry the same brand tried one then another wasting 30 plus trying to find caulking gun.
    Found dripless Inc. For 16 Is plastic great for if to lay it down on hardwood floor.
    Feel effortless works excellent no complaints.
    In case it falls and breaks bought tajima at tool dealer. It looks tool nice to use it will be in my truck incase cost 30 w tax

      Glad you were able to find a gun that works for you. Nothing more frustrating than having a "dripless" caulk gun make a huge mess when you set it down. I have heard that the caulk also has a part to play. If it is packaged correctly in the tube then it is less likely to drip everywhere when there isn't pressure on it. Apparently some brands of caulk are better about this then others, so it might be something worth exploring. 👍🏻

      @@garnerreviews so true
      First time using hardware dripless after installing exterior door. As I caulking around it, made a mess the homeowner told me it didn't look like that when you came and won't look like that when you leave.
      True value has decent products this one failed my expectations.
      Ace had 2 of the brand true value carried.
      TV red
      Ace yellow another blue
      None worked wasted lot of product and a mess as well
      The dripless Inc ets2000 is improvement
      Found tajima convey is of higher quality, pull the trigger it depenses let go the rod retracts slightly .

    Hi I’m just rewatching this before pulling the trigger on a new tajima…but Ive just realised that both the red guns are convoy super 26 guns?
    What do I need to do to make sure I get the drip less version ? Is there an exact model number ? Considering They are the same gun ? Also do you find them hard to use with a large handle? Some reviews say the handle is massive?

    • @garnerreviews
      @garnerreviews  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Smoovin Decat, So you are looking for the Convoy Super. It looks real similar to the Convoy Super 26 but it is labeled just the Convoy Super. The model is the CNV-100SP. You can look on the tags that are on the guns when you buy them, and the model you want that is less likely to drip has a feature called AFS System (Auto Flow Stop System). I don't find the handle to large, but I am sure this is personal preferences. Hope this helps and if you have any other questions, let me know. 👍🏻

    I just bought the Convoy Super CNV100-SP. It feels better in the hand, and better made, than any other I've seen.
    But I'm not sure if mine is defective.The thrust block is rotated counterclockwise, with the top left corner extending past the top of the frame and the lower right corner nearly touching the trigger. Also, there is a lot of side play in the trigger. Have you noticed this with yours? I don't see it on other videos.
    Tajima's customer service is a bad joke. I first called the toll-free number printed on the gun's hang tag. The answering message informed me that the line is not monitored, told me not to leave a message, and directed me to contact them via their webpage. I sent Tajima a message via their web form, and included a photo showing the lower corner of the thrust block rotated as described. Tajima's first reply was that the problem wasn't clear from the photo.They sent me a link to one of their UA-cam promo videos that they hoped would help. I replied that the photo illustrated exactly what I described in the text, and that the video was useless to me. Tajima apologized for the inconvenience and suggested I return the tool under warranty (a whole 3 months, BTW).
    I never did get an intelligent answer to my question. Now I have an expensive caulk gun and rubbish customer service from a company that expects me to be their unpaid QC, and possible time and expense returning the tool (not in stock locally, so purchased online).

    • @garnerreviews
      @garnerreviews  6 місяців тому +1

      Wow, I am sorry to hear about your experience. I would expect Tajima to want to correct this as quickly as possible. It definitely sounds defective. If they are willing to exchange it I definitely would. I have had great results with my Tijima caulk guns and other products. Another brand that I could recommend that may be available locally is Newborn. Their products seem top notch as well. 👍🏻

      @@garnerreviews I bought online from Fasteners Inc. Their local store is near me, but it didn't have one in stock. I contacted Fasteners Inc's customer service with my complaint. They emailed me a return label, so all I had to do was repack the Tajima in the box it shipped in, print and affix the label, and drop it off at the local USPS station. Fasteners Inc promptly refunded my money.
      I understand a defective unit gets out of everywhere every now and then. But add to that inept customer service and Tajima's willingness to back their product for a whole 90-days, and I've had enough. I picked up a Dripless ETS2000 (guaranteed for life) at my local Ace.

    Do you have any suggestion on how I can fix my Tajima CNV-J900SP? I loved it when it was working but it no longer grips the rod with any force when you squeeze. Nothing appears broken. It seems like it should be the two metal plates just behind the spring that grip the rod but they are no longer doing their job. Do they wear out? It seems like such a sturdy gun and yet it appears these aren't built to last. Any suggestions?

    • @garnerreviews
      @garnerreviews  2 роки тому +1

      That’s a shame to hear. How long have you had it? I would try returning it or reaching out to Tajima. These should hold up well under proper usage. If you have had it for a long time with lots of use, it is possible that those plates may have worn out but I can’t see it being very serviceable. But I would not expect to have to replace it for a few years at least. Let me know if Tajima has anything to say.

    • @davidbenji1
      @davidbenji1 2 роки тому +1

      @@garnerreviews Thank you for your reply! I've had it for several years. After closer inspection, it's not the double plates that push it forward that are the issue, it's the very back plate that is supposed to keep the plunger from backsliding that is the issue. And you're right, it does not look serviceable. It looks so simple I want to figure out why it won't grab. I did reach out to them and I haven't heard back yet. I'll be interested to see how good their customer service is. Thank you!

      You can make any caulk gun dripless by poking an X on the back of your tube of caulk with your razor. It relieves just enough pressure so the caulk stops when you let go of the trigger. Just to be clear im talking about the round piece inside the back of the caulk tube. Been doing this for years
